Beautiful Hair and Beautifully stated. We do ALWAYS want what we don't have. Thank you for representing low density Sisterlock Sisters. 😊 Im usually ok with my hair until i take a picture of the top of my head and ugh reality sets in that my hair is thinner at the crown. Even with that I'm getting use to it and accepting it more.
Yeah I know what you mean. It bothers me when I see my spacy crown but hey, it is what it is. There is someone else who probably wishes they had hair at all so I'll just be grateful lol.
"Everybody wants what they don't have." So true. I'm looking at videos of how people with thin hair look with dreadlocks/sisterlocks trying to see if I should do mine even though I have thin hair. Thanks for the upload!!
You are welcome! I haven't been disappointed. It hasn't given me thick hair, but what I have is so much easier to care for. I wish you well whatever you decide. ♥️
Thank you! I went for my consultation this morning and all I could think about was, if only I had thicker hair, if only, if only...🙄 bout drove myself bonkers! But you’re right, “accept what you have.” It seems so simply yet it so profoundly true.
You can do this and you will love it! You wouldn't believe how many women stop me and say "I wish my grid would stay visible." I remind them that if your hair is thicker, you won't see it for long after a reti, and if your hair is thin you'll probably always see it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you girl!! FINALLY someone with exactly my kind of hair. I also have fine strands of hair and my hair is also thinner at the crown. I just got my sister-locks established 2 weeks ago and am looking for someone to give me some realistic advice on what to expect on this journey, so thank you!! I’m subscribing right now.
Thank goodness someone else can relate. I'm only 1 month in and I have been wearing a wig because of my low density fine hair. But I'm trying to do as you said embrace what has been given to me. Thank you
You can do it Roxie! The cool thing is before long you'll be getting all kinds of compliments and though you may not like everything about your hair, other people will lol. It's humbling and reminds me that we're all fly in our own way. 😊
@@jamkwt yes I did. I have never covered them to help them hurry up and do whatever their going to do lol. I would say the back of my head is settled but the front is not. I did some basic styling but nothing special. In my one year video I compiled my year one styles. Check it out. I basically just wear it down or with slight waves from when I braid and band after washing. I leave the braids in to help prevent slippage. Also after a reti I don't mess with it for a couple weeks so it can loosen up before I mess with it.
Apparently I have thin strands but lots of them so my hair is fairly dense. I love the grid and I think it’s lovely that you can see it and do more pretty styles with it, I’ve noticed that those with thinner hair can do so many pretty styles and showcase their grid. I’m glad you’ve shared this video, so many women worry about their scalp showing but you’re right, we should embrace what we have ✊🏿❤️
Thank you for making this video and for the pep talk. I've been thinking about getting micro locs for a few years now and my thin/fine hair has been my main sticking point but you and ladies like you are breaking that wall down.
I've been using the positive term Highly Textured Hair for many years now. It's good to hear you using the same term instead of the negative derogatory names often used to describe hair of this texture. By the way your hair is beautiful.
My hair is very similar to yours. I'm contemplating getting sisterlocks. I was nervous because my hair is very fine and spread out. I see that it can still be very beautiful
Hey there, thank you for sharing your journey. I too have low density hair and even when I'm 6-8 weeks post retie you can still see my grid very clearly. I have had my locs for 4.5 years. I only started having some concerns last year about thinning because I was on a lot of medication and had anesthesia 5 times due to surgeries. But I'm getting it back healthy but I have accepted that I will always see my grid no matter what I do. I cut about 2-4 inches off about 2 weeks ago and now it's a little more noticeable but there my babies and I love them 😉😉💖💖
I am glad to hear you are now in a season of getting back healthy and strong 🙏🏽. Yeah, I've accepted that I will always see my grid too. I think deep down I was trying to convince myself it was going to go away and I decided to stop tripping 😂. Acceptance and just enjoying what we have is key!
Thank you for sharing this! I got sisterlocks back in 2015 and kept them for a year before I gave up and brushed them out because my hair was taking forever to loc. I regret that!! I want to get them installed again but I am worried because my hair has gotten so thin (due to vitamin/iron deficiency and poor diet). I am encouraged by the idea that they will look a bit fuller eventually.
@coilygurl I have definitely seen them thicken up a bit, though at the roots thin hair ladies usually always have a visible grid. The roots never look thick to me. I think you are doing great to work on your nutrition needs and take your time. If it makes you feel any better, I am 14 months in and the front half of my head is no where near locked. There is barely any budding. 🤨 The sheer fact that I just shake and go daily helps me be patient because at least I look put together and don't have to comb my hair 😂. I'll just wait forever for it lock I guess.
Thank you! Okay, it's been two weeks. How did your first hair wash go? You doing ok? One thing my consultant told me that helped was the product is what is cleansing your scalp and hair so you don't have to do a lot of rubbing to clean your hair. I was doing too much at first and caused lots of slippage 🤣. I'm trying save everyone I can from doing what I did 🤣🤣🤣.
This was a very helpful video for me. I've been debating about locking my hair but I wasn't sure because I don't have really thick hair I've got average density also. Thanks! your hair is beautiful.
I just completed my install yesterday. I was told I have low density hair. My hair is thin so my locks all are very tiny. My hair in the temple area is thin and short. Not really too much camouflaging I can do. I am trying to embrace it and just pray that it will fill in some over time.
I actually like the parts but with me it's been three years and everyone who see it be like oh you just got your locs 😔 am like dang will they ever get just alittle thicker but I love them
Your hair is beautiful !!! Love your confidence and you are right we need to embrace what we have! I just got mines established on May 18th and I can’t wait til it start filling out more but overall I’m happy. How long have you had your Sisterlocks?
Hi Katrina. Thank you for the compliment! 🤗 I have had my sisterlocks for 14 months now. I really love the ease of it and the versatility, though I don't do much. I try to leave it alone as much as possible so it can do it's thing. Congratulations to you!!! Welcome to a new level of hair freedom lol.
Hi, have you tried rice water it is known to thicken your hair maybe it might work for you. Just do your research I'm 8 months into my sisterlock journey.
Thank you for sharing..thin hair is thin hair no oils will get it thick. Mine is soft and thin at the sides and back.I recently started my sisterlocks and I'm loving it. 😊
My mother and sister genetically have little to no hair on their side edges. It's nearly bald. They basically just swoop their ponytail or wear their hair down. They also just rock it, it is what it is sometimes 🤣.
The Stovers thx for sharing that. Because I have real thin hair round my edges , but like to know more about how other ppl rock their locks with thin hair . You’re right we just had to learn to embrace the good with the bad , rock what you have .
I have extremely curly hair and my hair does this as well. The best thing to do is keep it stretched. To do this I braid it before washing and I leave the braids in to dry my hair. If you already have bunching I recommend you stretch the locs and start to braid them down to help. Once your hair is fully loc'd your loctician can help you groom to get better uniformity in the locs, but that can't be done before the locs are mature or else you risk damaging the hair.
My strands are fine as well, and I am getting my locks established on tomorrow. I am glad I ran across your channel. Please check me out to see how mine turn out, have a great evening.

This is one of the first videos I watched because I have thin strands too. Sisterlocks have made my hair look more full.
Yes! I never had this kind of fullness before. Then to have the fullness with no detangling required!♥️!♥️!♥️
I’m soooo glad you shared this!!! I’ve been trying to help women understand this for years! Embrace what God gave YOU!!
