- ALL NEW! First up are a Christmas themed plug for Sears amd one for Raisin Bran, followed by promos for Three's a Crowd and Who's the Boss, then the close to Benson (With a Voiceover promo for the epic Monday Night Football season finale between Dallas and playoff-bound Miami) and promos for Ripley's Believe it or Not and the ABC Sunday Night Movie.
Perhaps one of the most underrated, underappreciated shows in my lifetime. God bless Benson!
Back when TV was TV
yes, it was easy for TV to be TV, there was no internet yet.
kingsofcobra yes indeed
Loved the bumper. Thanks for including it in the video.
"Benson" is videotaped before a studio audience.
ERNIE ANDERSON v.o. @ 1:08. It's 1980's ABC television. Good ole days.
Airheads is one of the most underrated comedies every line is pure gold
"Benson" starring Robert Guillaume, will return in a moment."
Thank you for the assurances, yes.
1:28 - "Monday! Dallas battles to keep its playoff hopes alive when the Cowboys face the playoff-bound Miami Dolphins led by new NFL touchdown passing leader, Dan Marino on ABC's NFL MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL at 6:00. Then on CALL TO GLORY. Raynor's in a middle of a hot international incident when a Russian defector bid for freedom makes headlines. Now stay tuned for WEBSTER."
Dolphins vs. Cowboys Monday Night Football.
they also helped with Nurses, the underrated but short-lived spin-off of "Empty Nest" and "Golden Girls," as well as "Golden Palace," the shorter-lived continuation of "The Golden Girls" sans Bea Arthur.
Empty Nest was on NBC from October 8, 1988 to April 29, 1995; 7 seasons don't fit the short-lived status quo. To me, TV shows that have lengths below 5 seasons are what being short-lived means.
ERNIE ANDERSON GREAT ANNOUNCER
I LOVE HIM
I have plenty of VHS tapes that I'm considering converting and putting on RUclips. I hope it's not too difficult.
it was strictly A Witt-Thomas-Harris. ABC reran daytime reruns of Benson around 1982 or 1983. Columbia Pictures Television (now a part of Sony) picked up syndication rights aorund the mid-late 1980s or so.
1984
It was strictly produced by Witt/Thomas/Harris themselves before Touchstone came aboard to help them with Golden Girls, Empty Nest, Blossom, and Brotherly Love.
Thom Sharp in that sears commercial!
Ernie Anderson VOs classic !!
This was produced by CPT.
Not a production of Columbia Pictures Television. During the series' original run, it was from Witt-Thomas-Harris Productions, hence the in-credit at the close. When the show went into syndication, it was distributed by CPT, which is why you'd see its logo (or that of Sony Pictures Television) at the end of each episode.
1984 that CPT did.
CPT didn't produce it.
Webster
How come no Touchstone Television logo after the end of the show?
Touchstone had nothing to do with that show .
no wb logo
But Benson is, BTW, a Sony Pictures Television presentation thereafter even though its a Witt-Thomas-Harris Production presentation in the original ABC telecast.
