I have played euphonium in several good bands and conducted a few top bands but I can't get enough of Peter I can't put into words just how brilliant this man his tear to the eye I note a lady comments on the vibrato demonstrated it will do for me this man is the greatest soprano cornet player in the world magnificent to even don't to say anything about this man is rediculus I don't know if he's still playing I hope so genius have to say I love flowerdale sadly I'm not involved with brass as my company does not give me time but I listen to this man everyday it brightens up my day lete tell you in no uncertain terms Peter is the finest soprano player in the world and will never ever be beaten sorry but that's how I feel
Congratulations Peter, you nailed this beautifully with great intonation and control throughout with the great support from the band. Very nice playing from the heart, this is what the brass movement is all about, great control great feeling and great story about this special song....CATS.
If you doubt whether playing an Eb cornet is as simple as playing a Bb cornet a fourth higher, I don't think you understand the issues, and therefore are not competent to comment. This is very well played, and deserving of praise.
@@bobpotter6430 You're right. It's not as easy as playing a 4th higher. Of course anyone can play an Eb cornet, but it takes skill, a good ear, and a healthy dose of respect to play it well. I started with an award winning US brass band on Bb and moved to Eb because of need. It's a different animal, more coloratura than the solo parts. It's like the difference between trumpet and cornet.
If may be so bold, his 4th space E and Eb and 4th space D are horribly out - so flat! That said, it's the wonky intonation of his horn, not him for he is a heroic player!
Of course Peter Roberts is a legend, but l am not really loving the fast vibrato in places, doesn't suit the music. He plays in the old style, which has good and bad points.
Wonderful , Beautiful ,
Tear Time , Thank You ❤
Empty seats in the hall to listen to Peter Roberts playing a soprano cornet ?? Years from now so many will say ' I wish I could have been there ' .
Some of us are already saying it
We used this at my dad’s funeral he okayed Seprano cornet so it was very fitting now this reminds me of my dad. Thank you

Great playing, lovely tone!!!
These sorts of bands are what Lennon and McCartney were thinking about ... I believe ... when they wrote SGT. PEPPER'S Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Bravo, very beautiful
First saw Peter play this with Dodworth Colliery at a steelworks social club in Scunthorpe.

@@bobpotter6430 no 1, it's a joke
No 2, Ive recently started to play the soprano cornet and it's really not as hard as people make it out to be
@@bobpotter6430 I don't think that was the point of his comment anyway...
@@johannesstoll5896 Exactly. He was responding to the guy who posted the video who seems to think that it's a trumpet.

Wunderschön
If you want to see an angled embouchre, check the guy on the first cornet chair at 1:18! Is he a Jon Faddis fan?
infinite performance you all
lol, never seen Peter Roberts play a trumpet ;P
I asked Peter once "do you ever play B-flat?" His resonse, "Why would I?" :)
Que aqui em 2022

Awesome playing but what does Peter keep chewing in his mouth is it one of his secrets?.
yes he always chews gum when playing
@@MrDavidoneo Keeps the juices flowing.
❤💪🫶👍💙
Is this the guy who sings let me taste your honey?
Brassband
3:20 is he chewing gum here? :D
Yes he is. Always has apparently.

Get an ear!
Covered up by vibrato ;)
Nonsense

I would rather listen to his style of playing than some of todays ' razzers and blasters ' . But each unto their own I guess .
Get an ear…
Are you kidding ?
Get an ear. It certainly does suit the music. Do you think blasters like Doc Severensen would be better. I doubt it.
