First time watcher- loved how you approached this review! I bought the set too, and looked at the lipsticks and went "noooo" because they did look more brown than they actually are. BUT when I watched the Melt videos on the set, they actually used them as blush instead and that blew my mind. I was skeptical until I tried it and now I'm in love with that use of it.

Same. The rust eye shadows are so universally flattering to a wide range of complexions. They're wearable for soft pretty looks, grunge, and dramatic looks.... then we get two lip shades that are not universally wearable. They're odd and niche.

Dark matter, lovesick, she's in parties and the rust stack plus the 27 and gemini palettes are in in my MELT shadow family ~~ as well as the OG Noods trio lip bullets ~~ when MELT goes back online and the world can begin to repair, that MELT rust palette is coming home. I sooooo want the vida and muerte, but the rust palette I will actually wear, use, love. In the mean time thank you for the beautiful swatches and demo....and good lord that eye gel "liner" ♥ especially on your blue eyes!
I keep feeling like the Twenty-Seven palette might be the next one I "have to" add to my collection. It looks so gorgeous. And I agree - I think the Rust palette is more "everyday" wearable.
I saw a sneak peek of this pallet and knew it would be your jam. I have never used any melt product. And I am debating on this on or Gemini. For my first pallet from them. Ugh I am torn. That's for your video. Love them.
Oh god, that's a hard one! Gemini is my fave palette of all time, but I feel like Rust is more versatile and easier to find day-to-day looks with. Let me know if you choose one!

I am so with you on the stacks packaging from Melt. I have 2 stacks because I liked the formula. But even in the giant tin holder they came up with to make up for the fact that eyeshadow doesn’t belong embedded in stacked hockey puck slices, it’s still annoying to reach for and as a result I rarely do.
I’m so glad I’m not alone on my hate of that packaging. So many people seemed that they loved it so so much, so I thought I was going to be the only one.

Loved the video. I just got the liner today. The palette isn’t stocked @ Sephora yet, but the liner is. Anyway the liner color looks gorgeous. I was also bummed b/c I lost 1/8 of the product to the lid and sides of the jar. I live in Fla. so the liner was very liquidy. Anyway thanks again for an such a great and in-depth review.
That’s a bummer so much of the product was lost! Hopefully you’re still able to use what was on the lid because such a little bit goes such a long way.
Damn you, Melt Cosmetics. If any company understands my aesthetic and hits all my packaging buttons... Melt has me hooked. Now... if you could only buy one- would you get this, or the Amor Eterno? Both are beautiful and they are so different from each other.
Ooo, that's a hard one because they're SO different. This is a fantastic basics/smokey palette, but the Amor Eterno is bold and colorful. Personally, I think I'll get more everyday use out of the Rust palette.
Hey Linda, I have a question for you. First, do you have the Smoke Session and Millennial pallette? I know you have the Vida pallette but the reason I ask is because with some of the shimmer shadows in the pallettes are like chunky, hard to pick up with the finger and with a brush. Idk if you've experienced the same issues. It's a bit disappointing because of the price point but idk if just cause I'm not applying them correctly. But like I've said, I've used my fingers, I've used fluffy brushes, I've used flat brushes, I've used flat brushes and spray them with some spray...and it's still hard to apply. I hope you are able to respond, I would appreciate it deeply! I'm just so stumped and idk what to do. I will reach out them after this if I can't figure it out. P.S. Your look in this video came out gorgeous! That lip color looks good on you so don't worry, you totally 🤘🏽 it!
Hi Gaby! I do not have the Smoke Sessions or Millennial palettes, unfortunately. I do think that the shimmers in the Gemini palette were quite chunky, and these felt VERY different to me. With the Gemini palette, some of the colors would up falling out of the pan completely! I'm the same as you with those - I wish I had better advise! And thank you so much!

Honestly, there are so many different shades of brown in her that I would recommend it to nearly anyone. I feel like Rubbish would really bring out hazel eyes.
