Thank you Thinking Monk! I don't really believe in talent... Anything cool requires maybe 10% talent, 90% hard work and persistence! So, if someone has zero "talent", they could still get 90% 😁
You've inspired me to cut the coils on my 79 f100. I love those wheels, sure wish I could find that setup here in West Virginia!! Keep up the awesome work! Cheers
I really like the stance of this truck, I’m currently working on my 1969 to look similar. Could you tell me the wheel and tire size you’re running on this truck. Thanks!
Drive it around for awhile and hammer a few bumps with it. I think you are going to see everything settle a bit more once all your suspension parts find their natural resting place. The general rule is for every inch cut the body goes down two. This is an approximate because different vehicles have different load rates on the springs and different spring compression rates in the springs themselves. You are right to be cautious how much you cut at a time. I personally would be ok with one more cut of 1/2 a coil but I would not go anymore than that. This will bring you real close to neutral camber as well it looks like. I used to own an F-250 very similar to yours that I installed F-350 springs in but to get the camber right I had to cut 2 complete coils in. I drove it for 10 years after that with no ill effects. Remember Ford's old ad.....Built Ford Tough 🙂 The 1967 - 1972's lived up to that.
Hi Diff. Voorstel.
Lol that’s what I was afraid of! I have a pair of coils that have been cut. I’m pretty certain only one coil was removed buuuuut you know how that goes! Oh well, I’ll do another 40%ish of the next coil n hope for the best.
Its real.pooular hear in america to swap in a crown vic front subframe will drop the front up to 6 inches and also gives rack and pinion steering lot of videos on utube love your videos trying to catch up on them.but how about one on your background how did you get into the ratrod scene
Hi from Florida. Johnny here , just want to share with you my ray rod. It’s an 1989 f150 2wheel drive . Cut the roof 6 inches took 16 inches out of the frame. Had my brother helping me that day . We are both in ate 70’s he’s older than me but in much better shape. Last day I worked on it I was having bad chest pains , called it quits got cleaned up took myself to the emergency they kept me and in the next few days I ended up with open heart surgery 5 clog arteries. Been back home now for 7 weeks and wanting to get back on my truck. I have one problem. I lowered front and back but the fords as you know have that damn 2 piece front end. Now as rule of thumb I took out 2 coils came out perfect. Just one big problem negative camber. I’m stumped. This is a Budget build, any suggestions?? I’m thinking of looking for a straight axel off an older for???not sure if that will work. Oh I dig your style very kool
That was many years ago and I’m sure he is in another world, I am only in my ate 60’s. I did see someone that makes I-BEAMS with a lower end that seems to have solved the camber problem without cutting the coils. I don’t know who he is but it was johns something ⚡️
@@johnnymac1580 did some research on caster camber bushings and order a pair for dropped front ends. so when i get them and install them I will let you know how it goes. i think this is the best way they are extreme bushings, will go positive camber 4.0 degree ordered from deepeye truck parts
Nou waar de f@k moet ek so chassis in die hande kry! 😂 Nee, ek weet, daar is baie opsies, maar ek wil spesifiek sien wat ek kan regkry met F100 chassis en suspension. You're the man Div!

Pleasure man. Be brave😅 Good luck!

Thanks Doc! Pleasure man. It is quite a learning experience to do the vids. From one Ole Guy to another (I think?)😂

Thanks Tony! Will try my best man 😆
It might be in another video but what about a heavy front bumper. To weight the front down a lil more.

The tyre size is 295/50/15.

Sal dit nooit oor my hart kan kry om daai 46 Chevy te sny nie! Net te skaars. En vir my 'n beauty nes hy is😅
I think you did the right thing cutting it twice, unfortunately it was twice the work ⚡️
That's how it goes sometimes, gotta do it twice to get it nice!

Yes, ek het 'n video gesien van 'n ou wat dit gedoen het! Maar donner, dis darem baie werk...😅
I just made my decision, I told you my dream was to build a AC Cobra.. I'm going to do it Rat Rod style with fake patina! 🤪
That would be something man! Will probably be the only Rat Cobra on the planet!
Do you have any recollection of how tall your springs were after you finished them???
Oh dear, no. Took of a coil and half in the end

Yes, unfortunately those crown vic suspensions are not available here. Guess, I will have to do a video one day as you asked😅
you could have a bigger wheel in the back? but still locks good
It is an option, but for now I prefer to have same size wheels all around. We will see...😆

I new a man that found someone that heated the I beams and bent them to solve his problems, from another Johnny in Fl.👍
