Fantastic commentary, really makes for a very informative and watchable video. I was rather stunned first time I went to Europe and experienced the rail travel there. Switzerland was so stunning and efficient (and cold). First experience of Germany was its just a big scale version of the ubiquitous Marklin had as a child, but it all felt a bit flash for a scruffy backpacking kiwi. Did peasant class in a train Bangkok to chang mai think it was with no windows and wooden planks for seats. fighting the chickens for a window seat, consuming way too much Pepsi because you have to be very brave to drink anything else. Really enjoying your channel :)
Thank you! Swiss railway in general is very impressive, they know how to do it right. The german railway is very different in regards to smooth and on time operation. They want to change that but it will tacke decades to do so...
This was great to see again. Some years back we stayed twice for our vacation in Bergün in the REKA Village and from marts til october a free ticket for the RHB was included in the price of the accomodation. Only for the Glacier and Bernina Express a small extra charge had to be paid, all the regular trains in the complete net of the RHB were free of charge for the entire time of our stay.
Great to hear your story. I only had 1 week to stay there and I used every minute to explore the railway line. Lots of train rides and some train spotting at stations and along the line. It is fascinating to me how they where able to build those lines across the mountainous areas!

Great video. I have been to Zermatt by train twice, but in summer. It is beautiful scenery and the trains run efficiently. You should at some time go to North wales, where the Ffestiniog ( pronounced ; Fest - tin - ie - og ). A narrow gauge railway with double ended steam locomotives. You possibly have heard of it or been there. It runs from the coast to the town of Ffestiniog where slate was mined.
Hi, thak´s for your advice. I might be looking into a yourney to wales at some point. The weather during my trip was not that good at first but in part 2 of this video series (coming soon) you will be able to see that we had superb weather as we where riding the Bernina Express one day later.
Wow, one of the most interesting videos I have seen of this line, great perspective.
Thank you, I appreciate it very much! Stay tuned for part 2, a ride with the Bernina Express.
Fantastic video and commentary. Thank you!

These trains always reminds me of our local trolley system. Similar shaped cars and colors.
I still may pick up a starter set from Kato in N scale.
What kind of trolley system do you mean, where are you located?

I opened a window here in the USA on Amtrak to record and do the same thing and they threatened to kick me off if I I did it again 🤦🏼♂️SMDH
I guess it is not allowed in switzerland to but the train staff seemed to accept it. Maybe I was just lucky...
