Yeah, Remake 2 Ada's VA was much, much better. The change was due to unions, I think. Her remake 4 voice is very telling of how inexperienced she sounds. Because every other VA had much better voice direction, so it definitely has to be the actress.
The Amber was extremely important, it contains a Plaga that even inactive was able to drastically increase the strength of other Plaga victims, and if fully awakened could vastly outperform Saddlers own Dominant Plaga.
So like a literal queen mother Plaga? Like the hierarchy in the Alien(Xenomorph) franchise. The lowly drones serve the elite guards and they're all in turn serve the xenomorph queens. The queens, in turn, serve the queen mother xenomorph

Just started seperate ways last night, extremely impressed. Ada feels fast and plays well, music is better than the main game IMO. The Voice Actress doesnt bother me either, could use a tiny bit more emotion tho. Well worth the money, especially since it feels longer than RE 3 😮

Definitely hoping for more DLC at least for Mercenaries. Capcom needs to give up with their crappy online modes and focus on a huge Mercenaries mode with co-op, packed with characters and costumes, and maps from all the games.
I think we're getting that in RE5R. I read that the Luis section was a test ground for a companion, so yeah... I hope because of how positive it was, RE5R is fully co-op, like the OG.

I feel like it had a better atmosphere and feel there, but even on the island, it still gave me a feeling of nostalgia to go through it with Ada. To everyone who tries to say the Remake is "soulless", those crushing stone pillars indicate otherwise to me. Even those who bring up "cut content" never remember that little part from the original. They could have easily forgotten it and nobody would have batted an eye. Points to them for going the extra mile, those things got me a time or two trying to find those hidden Novistadors. I let out an audible "No way." when that drill trap was unleashed. I wonder if they have a way to retract that thing... I would have said the Salazar Statue chase was Leon's "boulder punch", but knowing exactly how to position himself and maneuver around deadly laser patterns does sound like the more accurate comparison. I'm not too upset on there being no Krauser boss fight in Separate Ways. Unless she encountered him before Leon fought him, that would have absolutely ruined his heartfelt last moments with Leon in the Remake. I'm fine with Pesanta/U-3 filling the Krauser void. Overall, reusing cut concepts from the original Resident Evil 4 for Remake's Separate Ways was a solid idea. Not that the original Separate Ways wasn't fun and immersive, but up until Chapter 4, around 70% of it was an asset flip of the main game.

The design team knew what they were doing, and the passion showed. There were moments where I strutted around prepared to handle anything and even quoting TVTropes - then slip, they'd rip the rug out from beneath me! I don't know how long I was screaming with joy during my first fight with El Gigante THAT SHIT WAS EXCEPTIONAL! I even wrote down a line to add to my youtube review: on the other channel: "This is how you recycle boss encounters (and Elden Ring sucks Blaidd's balls xD") I do have to wonder about whether or not a fan had a decent childhood if they're going to call the gondola segment goofy: It's less than a minute but it's rather quirky and dear to the heart. Besides, if we want to look at it from a professional POV, any game dev would endorse it because it mixes up the flow of gameplay and introduces a unique circumstance to fight through. And I squealed with joy before that's in fucking Ch 6 and I had given up on seeing the Gondola from the village xD
Great video. One cool little easter egg is at the end fight. After th cutscene where Leon cuts the rope holding Ada if yu stay and pull a sniper out. You can see Leon fighting like you. Including using the exact weapons you did. I saw Leon pull out a RPG and shoot Saddler.
16:00 didn't Saddler also do that machinegun hand attack in OG Separate Ways? I remember there being a little cutscene playing showing he's glowing orange like he's fukin Super Saiyan and then charges up for the attack
I am certain I saw it somewhere that RE3 remake and Separate ways were made by the same group of developers and that they usually work on DLCs, so Threemake being a RE2 remake DLC would really have been spot on. xD

Honestly, I didn’t find her performance too bad. Her personality in RE2 remake with a different VA was pretty cold as well (not as icy but still). I figure that’s just the route Capcom are taking for the more serious remakes, a detached spy who still has a slight soft spot for Leon. Also, maybe the IRIS is a fake eye, since she got hurt in Revelations I think. Idk, maybe she just grew on me after playing the DLC all the way through and trying to beat the game alongside her. Also, I’m a huge Salazar fan and my hot take is that he’s better in the remake, despite him having less screen time. Great video! I love your balanced approach to every character in the series.

While RE4 OG will always be special to me, It’s really nice to see the series changing and still coming out with continuously good quality story games in a market full of rushed releases. One of the only series I’ve played where you can play lots of the games, have fun, and rarely run into any bad ones.

Speaking of The Merchant and Ada, I like that he'll actually upgrade your weapons for you now. That was sadly a Leon-exclusive option in the original Separate Ways.
It's definitely in the realm of possibilities, although the community voted for me to work on spin-off games. After that, I'll make another poll on where to go from there, which would be soon.
Honestly a RR5 remake would work hear me out. 1. Better gun play and without quick time events. 2. Actually horror since especially if playing single player and even a unique one for co op.
I think you're forgetting that Wesker is exactly that, Albert Wesker. He has a superiority complex over everyone and any slip ups he dislikes, especially for someone he employed. Sure he's more flexible in the OG, but for someone who literally says he doesn't need anyone else, if anything his OG is out of character. His voice could be better, and i have full confidences that it will be. I think great things are to come in the future.

Ok, after more reflection, I just want to add that it's awesome to see that keeping the faith in Capcom for this DLC was worth it. I would hate be in the board room when they hear you drop the line that equates this "10.00" usd DLC (honestly, they could've justified charging more!) to the OVERPRICED RE2 dlc that is Re3make. My god. I'm wondering who's getting fired, in fact... We totally agree on Wesker. From hour 1, I was like : "Oh, he's a generic boring villain now." End of game: "Fuck." I will absolutely have to disagree with your take on Ada, however. The fact that you didn't AT ALL attempt to read between the figurative lines and try to get into her head or even process her body language shows how the nuisance of emotion, nonverbal communication, and human struggle and mental health is lost to this current generation. This is why we always need books, and these RE games need much longer and more in-depth docs, too. Ada is a professional spy struggling to reconcile two lives and her empathy for others with this shitty shadowrun and a VERY REAL THREAT of her and even LEON being murdered by a maniacal psychopath. This is NOT a time to flirt with someone and distract them - that leads to FUCKING UP AND DYING. This current continuity is not the B-movie media we grew up with. I've been saying this since R2make. If you remove your nostalgia and enjoy the game for what it is - stop dissing good media for appropriately changing with the times, you'll love it more. Anywoos, I would put Ada is S-tier; she has easily overtaken Jill (Thanks, capcom, for shipping our beloved Jill's story to the B-team!) and I was tearing up during the credits last night, dude. We don't need another remake of 1, the story would still flow fine, and they'd need to remake 0 too if they did. Code Veronica should have been remade as that directly ties into the remakes.
Honestly with wesker I kinda agree with the point of him not leaving anything to chance. Sure in the original he knew ada would get the job done. But I like that after awhile he decides to say get the job done or I will deal with it. And I think after krasuer died he just wanted the amber as extra Plaga research so kept Ada on the hunt. But once she betrayed him he went well I might not have the sample but I got all I wanted. So overall I see problems but I don’t think this wesker is awful. I see him more as a Wesker who wants shit done and doesn’t fuck around but I get that to others that’s not Wesker which is fine.
This separate ways dlc indeed was a great dlc and definitely better than re3 remake. I really like whta they did and even i gotta say there was room for improvement or better scenes but im satisfied with how it is. I do wish this ada had more flirty and relationship or chemistry ways with leon like she did in the other RE games featuring leon and ada.

Let's face it the way Ada was poorly portrayed in the main game and now in Separate Ways she's depicted as an outright C yoU Next Tuesday The gameplay is solid the U3 boss fight may just be my favorite boss fight in the game. Leon should've kept all his content and Ada got all her own new content.
Separate Ways kind of makes Ada's "Leave the girl. She's lost no matter what." remark even colder than it was in the main game. After having suffered a similar infection thanks to Pesanta, you would think she'd be a bit more understanding of Leon's plight.
@JunKazamaFan don't get me wrong the DLC was fun to play and a more than reasonable price. But how anyone can deny that Ada's depiction in this remake is just butchering her character is beyond me.
Now Luis is A or B. The other Verdugo is pretty bad honestly, his bossfights are fantasy hallucinations and he's really spongy. U3 2nd form is bad, really bad. In the og you kill the "human" in u3, the plaga takes over and it becomes more agressive, but in the remake the human like form is gone and it's a huge centipide now(2nd form), boring. Also if he can easily infect people, what is the point of injecting the plaga like they did to Leon?
I could be wrong, because they didn't expand on it, but I don't think that what Pesanta infects Ada with is the same as what Leon and Ashley have. Ada never shows that she's under Saddler's control. Perhaps it's just a fancy way to hunt prey, like some insects do?
@giwi4 absolutely he is. Which was the main reason why I didn't want to add him to the ranks. However, I like the laser room, especially now it has that dope death scene too, so if they had to create something to make the room worth it, then I can live with that.
This was the best DLC I've ever played, and I'm a Dark Souls fan. Ada's VA did WAY better, and she's so awesome to play; not to mention the different menu screens/music, special weapons, how awesome it is to see her side of the story while the base game unfolds, and how fucking fun she is to play as with her melees and grapple hook gun. I hope someone mods RE4 Re to make the main game and the DLC to be able to play concurrently.

Honestly a RR5 remake would work hear me out.

I think you're forgetting that Wesker is exactly that, Albert Wesker. He has a superiority complex over everyone and any slip ups he dislikes, especially for someone he employed. Sure he's more flexible in the OG, but for someone who literally says he doesn't need anyone else, if anything his OG is out of character. His voice could be better, and i have full confidences that it will be. I think great things are to come in the future.

Ok, after more reflection, I just want to add that it's awesome to see that keeping the faith in Capcom for this DLC was worth it. I would hate be in the board room when they hear you drop the line that equates this "10.00" usd DLC (honestly, they could've justified charging more!) to the OVERPRICED RE2 dlc that is Re3make.

I will absolutely have to disagree with your take on Ada, however. The fact that you didn't AT ALL attempt to read between the figurative lines and try to get into her head or even process her body language shows how the nuisance of emotion, nonverbal communication, and human struggle and mental health is lost to this current generation. This is why we always need books, and these RE games need much longer and more in-depth docs, too.
Ada is a professional spy struggling to reconcile two lives and her empathy for others with this shitty shadowrun and a VERY REAL THREAT of her and even LEON being murdered by a maniacal psychopath. This is NOT a time to flirt with someone and distract them - that leads to FUCKING UP AND DYING.
This current continuity is not the B-movie media we grew up with. I've been saying this since R2make. If you remove your nostalgia and enjoy the game for what it is - stop dissing good media for appropriately changing with the times, you'll love it more.

We don't need another remake of 1, the story would still flow fine, and they'd need to remake 0 too if they did. Code Veronica should have been remade as that directly ties into the remakes.
Honestly with wesker I kinda agree with the point of him not leaving anything to chance. Sure in the original he knew ada would get the job done. But I like that after awhile he decides to say get the job done or I will deal with it. And I think after krasuer died he just wanted the amber as extra Plaga research so kept Ada on the hunt. But once she betrayed him he went well I might not have the sample but I got all I wanted. So overall I see problems but I don’t think this wesker is awful. I see him more as a Wesker who wants shit done and doesn’t fuck around but I get that to others that’s not Wesker which is fine.
This separate ways dlc indeed was a great dlc and definitely better than re3 remake. I really like whta they did and even i gotta say there was room for improvement or better scenes but im satisfied with how it is. I do wish this ada had more flirty and relationship or chemistry ways with leon like she did in the other RE games featuring leon and ada.
The new Wesker's voice actor isn't bad. I mean it doesn't "feel" out of place in respect to the character. His voice is still menacing enough.

The gameplay is solid the U3 boss fight may just be my favorite boss fight in the game. Leon should've kept all his content and Ada got all her own new content.
Separate Ways kind of makes Ada's "Leave the girl. She's lost no matter what." remark even colder than it was in the main game. After having suffered a similar infection thanks to Pesanta, you would think she'd be a bit more understanding of Leon's plight.
@JunKazamaFan don't get me wrong the DLC was fun to play and a more than reasonable price. But how anyone can deny that Ada's depiction in this remake is just butchering her character is beyond me.

The other Verdugo is pretty bad honestly, his bossfights are fantasy hallucinations and he's really spongy. U3 2nd form is bad, really bad. In the og you kill the "human" in u3, the plaga takes over and it becomes more agressive, but in the remake the human like form is gone and it's a huge centipide now(2nd form), boring.
Also if he can easily infect people, what is the point of injecting the plaga like they did to Leon?
I could be wrong, because they didn't expand on it, but I don't think that what Pesanta infects Ada with is the same as what Leon and Ashley have. Ada never shows that she's under Saddler's control. Perhaps it's just a fancy way to hunt prey, like some insects do?

This was the best DLC I've ever played, and I'm a Dark Souls fan. Ada's VA did WAY better, and she's so awesome to play; not to mention the different menu screens/music, special weapons, how awesome it is to see her side of the story while the base game unfolds, and how fucking fun she is to play as with her melees and grapple hook gun. I hope someone mods RE4 Re to make the main game and the DLC to be able to play concurrently.
