- Just thought I'd narrate my personal history with Lady Butterfly. I feel like she doesn't get enough love. Hope you enjoy!
Please check out my companion video containing my no-damage-taken run at the first seven bosses in Sekiro, including Lady Butterfly! • Sekiro Bosses: No Dama...

Let me know your "aha!" moment in Sekiro in the comments! We've all had it--that boss encounter that suddenly makes it all click :)
another fantastic video, sekiro is a near masterpiece regarding combat. I look forward to more sekiro videos in the future
Yep, sometimes I'm focusing on defense and deflection so much that I do not attack aside from contras to their attacks.
I’m not sure when my ‘aha’ moment was, but I distinctly remember being ‘in the zone’ during one of my runs with Emma. Beat her with only taking 1 hit. It was a beautiful song of *clang* *clang *CLANG* *clang*
funny thing, lady butterfly was my first boss in the game, i didn't even beat the tenzen yamauchi before her, gyoubu felt like he was moving in slow motion lol
FightingCowboy unlocked the game for me
While Genichiro was the "Aha moment" for me for sure, Butterfly (slaughtering me for hours bc I did her pre Gyoubu 💀) was the beginning of me clicking with the game. I wish I could put her in A, but the cloning is so annoying on challenge runs so I'll keep her in B which is still very good!
Awesome video keep it up!
Oh yeah it's a totally different animal if you can't thwart her for summoning the apparitions for sure!
@@jermergerg Yeah, you get one snap seed and that's it, just not very fond of the clone attack, it just wastes time and resets the posture, I will say tho the butterfly follow ups you have to quickstep after deflecting are one of the best mechanics in the game, if she dove more into that and less into clone waiting game she could've been high A to S.
@@deliriushunter you can stop her from summoning by just sticking to her, at most she would summon just once or twice.
I feel exactly the same. It's so true that you get the 'aha'-moment and the game just starts playing by itself almost lol. This was the second actual boss I beat, I think I went to Hirata Estate because I didn't see the path to Gyobu where you have to jump down after the samurai general.
Before Lady Butterfly I was playing very scared and the way there was hell, I was barely attacking anything and the spear shinobi hunter took me ages to kill, I was just trying to beat him mikiri only haha. Once I got to her I noticed you can just get 3 hits in, she deflects, and now it's your turn to stay defensive and deflect. I felt so dumb about the way I had been going through the game until that point. The deflect timing also felt more natural to me than anything before, I guess it could be because it's similar to your own attack speed (I could be wrong, haven't played in a while).
Always wondered if I would have had the same experience if Lady Butterfly was an actual tutorial boss like Gundyr, or would I get the same feeling at a later point. I think I had played like 5 or 6 hours before Lady Butterfly but after that feels like I flew through the rest and finished the game in about 20. She was like an angel that saved my playthrough lol.
I love this story! Thanks for sharing it!
Jermergerg: Lady Butterfly taught me how to play Sekiro.
Me: Lady Butterfly made me quit Sekiro.
hahahaha
Fighting while listening to Kickstart My Heart by Mötley Crüe helped me click with the combat.
