    Welcome back to another trip report everyone. Hope you enjoy this video on United's Polaris Business Class with the Lounge tour and onboard product. The Polaris product has dynamically changed as a result of the pandemic and many of the elements everyone loves have returned, but there are many cuts as well and this review should hopefully give you a look into that. Hope this helps! Cheers!

    Great video! Just the right length and packed with useful information. And by the way, thank you for NOT speeding up the take-off and landing as I have seen in other videos - the takeoff and landing for me are the most exciting and interesting parts of the flight. I am looking forward to being on the Newark to London flight in business in June 2022.

      Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed and yes enjoy the layover. As soon as you enter the lounge, I would immediately check the wait time for the dining room and the shower if there is any wait because those can be crowded and easily more than an hour wait during peak hours.

    I flew Polaris Business Class in December 2021 to Brussels and April 2022 to Paris. Both times I went through Dulles. I loved the Polaris Lounge at Dulles. Next month I am flying Polaris Business class to London and I go through Newark. Great video on what to expect at the Polaris Lounge in Newark. My favorite thing was flying back through Brussels. The United Club was smaller but they had self service Stella on tap.

      I too like the Polaris lounge in Dulles better. It’s easily the prettiest but also Newark service becomes slow in the peak hours especially in the dining room. We’re talking wait times north of 45 minutes for plates

    I’ll be doing the same flight in this aircraft in the other direction next month and I can’t wait! Thanks for the reminder to choose an odd-numbered window seat. I was trying to decide where to sit, but since I know I’ll be tired from a 6am flight into MUC, I’m betting I’ll be sleeping. The window will work better, I think. I can’t wait! It’s my first time in Polaris!

    The lounge tip seems to be to select from the self-service buffet items. There were quite a few. I wonder what happens to all the uneaten food in these buffets at the end of the day.
    The seat looked comfy, and although the dinner wasn't up to the former Business Class standards, you did seem to enjoy the breakfast. You also had good service from the FAs.

  • @nicksullivan480

    Good job. Same experience in early December with the restaurant rthere. Pedestrian service. Burger was good when it arrived. But when it did I only had five minutes to eat it before boarding opened. Stone cold fries. I was planning to only eat there and not on the plane (i never do that). Scratch that. I put it down to staffing issues - like they're running on half the staff including no doubt in the kitchen. So im not blaming the staff per se (tho frankly they could be a bit more friendly and efficient) as much as its the management. Hopefully they will ramp it back up soon as it was one of my favorite things pre covid about flying long haul on United

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  2 года назад +1

      Yup similar experiences. Problems I’m seeing is that apparently people are dropping left and right due to COVID in that lounge. I hope they recover fast, but if that’s the case, in a few weeks time that can’t be an excuse anymore as everyone will have gone through and finished having COVID. The staff isn’t infinite that it’s a new person every day. So let’s see in a few weeks how this lounge plays out.

    Nice video. Well, at least you had a better meal at the lounge. We experienced their OK narrow lounge in SFO for the first during our trip to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines 4 months ago.
    For our trip to Greece this year, we are planning to take Delta. Now I'm checking United's different planes. We have not experienced their international flight yet but Delta we have several times. We are just worried about their flights being delayed most of the time. Will see. Maybe we'll try United as we like to do. If there's Aegean Airlines from the US then we will take it no matter what.

      United is simply being cheap at this point, there’s no COVID excuse that can be used anymore. There’s no world in which COVID can be used as an excuse anymore

    Really good video. The camera work was a very good overall, but did get a little shaky at times. To be fair it's really hard keep a camera steady on any flight. I would like to have a bit more narration with the video on the flight. Your written review on your website is fantastic.

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  2 года назад

      Thanks very much for the comment. Sorry about any shakiness, likely from my go pro footage as my hand is pretty good about stability from my iPhone.
      As for the narration on the flight: this is probably the number one thing I’ve consistently grappled in my head about ever since I started incorporating voiceovers into my videos in 2018. It makes it more efficient to talk about meals and food, but many people also love the integrity of the flight sounds to make it feel like they are on board too. This is nice to have, but people want information, and it’s easier to hear a voice rather than reading text. Really have to make a decision on this one.
      Thanks very much again, glad you enjoyed the written review and I try to make it as detailed as possible including details that usually can’t be feasibly included in any video.

    Nice video, but after seeing this meal service I'm not sure why you would choose United over an international carrier for this flight. Even if your Mileage Plus status is your biggest concern, there are other *A carriers plying this route where you could have a much better inflight experience. For me, the roll in a plastic bag pushes to a line I am not willing to cross.

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  2 года назад

      Your concerns are very very valid, and if this were a leisure flight, I would’ve probably taken lufthansa, but there are a few reasons I chose United. It wasn’t for my MP status because Lufthansa would’ve equally contributed as you said, but here’s the thing.
      1. The timing. The Lufthansa flight wouldn’t get me into Munich in time to catch a meeting I needed to catch in Munich that morning which United did get me there.
      2. The Lounge. This flight is scheduled right after the end of a typical work day, so it’s hard to beat going to the Polaris lounge after work, taking a nice shower, and filling up on food completely there.
      3. The bed. For me, food is important but the seat is even more important, especially on a sub 8 hour flight. Lufthansa has one of the worst business class seats out there. The food is great, but the seats are so exposed, and narrow and the Polaris bedding beats Lufthansa’s bedding by a mile.
      There are definitely better airlines than united no denying that, but United’s route network and timings are impeccable and a vital reason for why they are chosen by many.

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  2 года назад +1

      It doesn’t. The only argument that can be made is that it reduces the exposure between the flight attendants and the passengers.
      But this excuse will not fly. Planes have a better filtration system than virtually any other building on planet earth, COVID doesn’t discriminate between passengers and crew you are equally and more likely to get COVID from your fellow crew members vs your fellow passengers, if touch is a concern then it shouldn’t be because all crew wear gloves anyways, and AA has gone back to full pre COVID service so what’s the excuse there? COVID only spreads on UA but not AA? So no there’s no complying with COVID safety anymore, COVID will be around but the threat of it on united is no less or greater than the threat on other airlines that are doing full service

    • @ASIDBOB
