Greg Means from PJ Pockets is an interesting guy. He knew about bet spreads for counting cards, but he did not understand basic strategy indices as well as he should have. Didn't stop the guy from calmly and professionally excluding card counters from their blackjack tables.
You can never clean out casino's enough, they are only your friend when you lose. Dare to win and they will do anything to deny your winnings. Great episode again. 🙂
'Sir, we're going to have to back you off at this property. We realize: the blatant IYF ads of weekly to annual winners, jackpot recipient posters, the front & center cage easily seen from any angle, paid 'happy & lively' player shills, planted winners & chip-tray carriers, planted 'big-win storytellers' spread throughout the floor, various sounds of money, amplified reaction sounds, vocalized wins, slot sirens, and luxury cars strategically placed or parked near entrances, all gave you the idea of winning at our property. Mark got sick of blackjack in due part because he pushed the limits insanely, sneaking into casinos illegally after getting kicked out, jumping bets from minimum to maximum every casino he entered, basically Mark was being super aggressive and getting kicked out more quickly. BTW that segment where they lost $50k and won it back plus $15k took place in California, not Vegas. Overall, this video was done mostly very well!
Whats funny is when I first saw Colin interviewed about his team, that was my first thought, but I've never heard him mention that the team name came from the Simpsons. I feel like he would have...
Not too surprising, this is the kind of thing you need a lot of trust to make work and that's not easily maintained with a group larger than about a dozen or so.
1:57 "A fool and his money are soon parted" isn't in the Bible in those exact words. It's: Proverbs 21:20 “There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.”
I once went to Laughlin NV with church people. It was weird. I had never gambled. I tried Craps, and began winning, but got scared because I had zero clue what I was doing. So I tried Roulette and won each time. Two men came, one checked the bottom of the table with the wheel, the other told me I needed to leave. I asked why and he refused to answer. I guess I won too often. Haven’t ever done that again tho. I understand what these men have done, the math and probability/statistics, but …
Given their moral stance about casinos destroying communities, and due to them being upright Christians, I stupidly assumed they'd be giving their winnings to charities...
It basically was a full time job as well as a big risk. As far as I know Christians don't give their entire salary to charities. They played to make money for their investors, in other words their community. I didn't see any luxuary cars, watches or other such stuff in the video.
It depends a lot on the specific sect of Christianity, but most don't explicitly label gambling as a sin. Gambling is fine if you can afford your losses and everything else is in order, in other words, a healthy financial situation. It's sinful when it's costing you other important values in your life or risking yours or other people's well being due to gambling.
casino staff that brag about spotting card counters, like "Oh you think you can outsmart me? I'm so much smarter than you, ill get you," are the scum of the earth. narcs
Blackjack dealer here for many years. If a floor supervisor allows card counting to take place without informing the bosses then they can be reprimanded and possibly even terminated. I hardly think that counts as them being the scum of the earth. Now, as a dealer, if a counter is bringing me along with them, i.e. tipping, I am not going to say a word to anyone. But if they are just going to keep that money to themselves, then I'm narcing on them the first chance I get.
Well counting cards is still gambling since it still is completely dependent on the possibilities. There is no guarantee of earning in the short run or the long run it's just probabilities favoring you in the long run. Yet you may still lose with a slight possibility.
Everything in life is a gamble. Why do you keep working your job? (assuming you're employed) Because there is no guarantee of earning money in the short run or the long run; it's just probabilities favoring you in the long run. You could be fired the next day you go into the office
Its not a gamble at all. If you have a 1% edge over time that 1% edge will accumulate. Numbers dont lie, if you have a edge its impossible to lose if you manage your money correctly.
@@Real-HumanBeing they used something to take advantage of another thing thats taking advantage of others, this is purposely tweaking the words of god to your advantage. im not christian and i still know this is sin based off what was said and prior knowledge
Not wolves in all cases. Sometimes, people are just weak and selfish. We're sinners after all. They may be honest much of the time, but then temptations lead them astray. They might become honest again.
@RossTheNinja it has nothing more to do with how some of them act/behave, especially Colin. I've known quite a few people with Asperger's and he "checks all the boxes". It would help explain some of lack of self-awareness that caused tension on their team.
" A fool and his money are soon parted" is not from the bible. It was coined in the 16th century. These "bible school scholar christian kids" are just like all of the other pious christians...they have little knowledge nor regard of what the bible says.
I don’t see how this works in the real world. For card counting to work, it means the casino has to deal through most of the multiple deck shoe. They won’t do this. The mathmatics work on what has not yet been played. If there is most of the deck(s) unplayed, card counting doesn’t work. The advantage is with the house. Am I missing something?
