Yamaha is criminally underrated hifi company. The reson you don't see them much on social media is because they don't fund so called "influencers/reviewers". They never did and likely never will. I have tons of Yamaha stuff in my home, from the little A-S501 to the big boss A-S2200 and many amps and CD players in between. I simply love their genuine and natural approach to the sound, they build their gear to sound the way they want the music to sound to the listener unlike many others that build amps and players for the sake of componentry and gear.

The sound is addictively balanced. Classical and jazz are especially liquid. They benefit from a more powerful amp than the one in the set. They are expensive at $15K but thousands cheaper than luxury brands using carbon fiber or aircraft grade aluminum instead of Yamaha's piano gloss birch plywood.

Could a video have been more disappointing than this??? No. As you said, you don’t see many if any videos on Yamaha’s flagship line…and what did you give us…things we could have read about on Yamahas website but absolutely no reference at all as to how good or bad those 15,000 dollar speakers sounded…which I was waiting for with baited breath!! I own a AS801 which I love driving my KLH Kendalls! But I used to own a pair of Yamaha’s insanely good NS-555 3-Way Towers. They were a steal at less than 600 for a pair. You need to do a follow video actually reviewing what you “heard” with much less goofing around!

" that source of the audio signal coming in to the amplifier has no direct connection to the electricity going out from amplifier to the speaker"
Its merely a high amplitude replication of source signal coming in to the amplifier.
There are no other ways to replicate original source electric signal in amplifiers, other than the method of analogue & digital amplification principles .
Be it valve or transistors, be it analogue or digital,
No other method of amplification possible!.
All we can do is..use better components, tighter values and tolerance and strict filters , silver/gold cables, cleaner power supplies etc.

Now when I clicked on the video I was not searching for audio babble snake oil sales man but man this hole section, in fact almost everything he says about these products does not feal me with hope… and any one spending 50k on this setup is never going to tern around and be like “yer maybe this was a bit more hyped up than what gets delivered”
and what’s with the host? He is not giving us any interesting information he just keeps commenting on how big things are “look at the size of that “ like that has any bearing on how well produced these items are. “I don’t think the video does it justice of how massive these speakers really are” Its your video, you made it, why did you not just show us how massive these really are? Not even a comedy banana next to it. and I still love how much the sales guy had to make sure when compering the NS-1000’s drivers with the new ones not to say the new ones are better that’s really kind of funny. “What we found with the xylon once it’s formed, it has very similar features as the beryllium” yer not the same, not better, just similar, Its similar in that it creates sound waves, comedy gold.

Then I guess U R lucky to have missed the $1,000,000.00 Dollar Room at AXOPNA ....Ahahahahahahaha Oh! Look its the Future Fi Fix for the Late NS-1000M Speakers...from Yesteryear...with the Beryllium Tweeter and Mid Range....Very Clever idea on the Port release... Very Clever. Yes, the Turntable idea for Straight Tone Arms is not new I had a Pioneer or Technics Back...and I mean Back in the day... Ran Great for 2 years. Its drawback back then were Cartridge Choices. And yes even though there were back then I think only two Straight Tracking Tone Arms was B and O. But No Interchangeability. And I don't doubt for a second it sounded great. I can relate Price wise on of for everything with the exception of the turntable. And Yes I understand their design goal and it makes perfect sense. But that's not to say If I the Ging Wah to throw down I wouldn't. I just think its a ridiculous price period for ANY turntable not matter the materials etc. And I doubt the R and D to design it was than laborious and I bet the materials in and of themselves are not "Rare Earth" so... ITS NOT a Meteorological Microscope ^ Ton Granite Slab floating on a curtain of air...ok... lol...

Agreed. I've heard the 5000 series in a store, and while it's a superb system, it just made me realize how fortunate I am to have obtained and restore a Yamaha C-1 VFET preamp, and NS-1200 speakers (all-out attempt with Wharfdale). Just felt like another example of "don't make 'em like they used to" in effect. :/

I don't trust mass market brands when they start making high end gear. Its almost always way overpriced for what you're getting. For me, its very important to know who's designing my gear. You have to hope that Yamaha has designers that are equally good at making speakers, amplification, and source components.
To be fair, I haven't heard this system, so I can't have an opinion on it. My comments are in general, That said, given my experience with other, similar equipment, I would be surprised if I couldn't put a system together that sounds better for half the price, or even less.

Uhh Yamaha and Sony were making high-end since the '70s, just not always for the North American market. I mean Krell wasn't even a company yet and Mark Levinson was in it's infancy. In 1978 the flagship Yamaha 80lb receiver cost $1,500 USD which is $7,000 USD today. The preamp section was taken from their C2 separate preamp, had a real headamp that if I remember correctly put out 5 watts and if you mistuned the radio station as soon as you let go of the dial, it would automatically, electronically pull and lock the station for you. Most of the flagship monster receivers of the day were just powerful, but the Yamaha was so much more refined as well.

@@LennyFlorentine I don't have to trust anyone. You can if you want to, but that's a personal choice we all have to make for ourselves. As for "boutique brands", they're not all the same. For example, if you're looking for a new amp or preamp, Nelson Pass, Jeff Rowland, Charles Hanson, John Curl, Stewert Tyler, Ron Sutherland, Steve McCormack, Harry Westfield and Dan Dagastino are just a small handful of designers I would trust, and there are many more. Who's designing for Yamaha this week? Maybe the better question is, do they even have a designer, or is it being outsourced to some company in China? I like to know these things. Some people don't care, and that's their choice.

The thing about claiming you can put together a system that sounds better for half the price is that I've heard that sentiment a thousand times before and it never turns out to have any merit. If you're going to just base value on sound quality, it's possible ( less than half price is pure fantasy ) but it requires less build quality, fewer features, less performance capability and less power. I can tell by your statement you don't have much experience owning really high-end gear, even this $50,000 system is actually entry level high-end today. We live in a world where $100,000 amps sound much better than $20,000 amps. Lastly judging gear at a show demo or dealer is virtually useless. Over 30 years ago I auditioned a flagship five figure speaker from the number one dealer in the country and it sounded atrocious. Based on the reputation of the brand and the flagship status, I purchased them anyway. In my home with carefully chosen electronics (auditioned in my home) they sounded wonderful. A lot of dealers don't spend the time to maximize the potential of what they sell as it takes many, many hours to do so. BTW Yamaha has been making pianos since 1900 and wind instruments since 1965, for whatever that's worth.
