OMG!!! Irony of Ironies. I just pulled my 2011 Ford Fusion FWD 3.0 in the garage to change the driver's rear wheel bearing. I fired up RUclips to search for some pointers, and low and behold.....today's video is exactly what I'm doing! Been subscribed for a while now, but this might be the first time I have been able to apply your knowledge. I wanted to tell someone about the irony, buy my wife and kids really didn't care. LOL

It happens , for me once in 42 years as a mechanic . ... Years ago I did the chisel flip . Just too lazy to walk the four steps to my tool box for a drift . Felt a quick sting in the side of my face and didn't think much of it . Next morning my cheek was out like a chipmunk and I was off to the hospital to get the chip dug out of my face . Glad it didn't hit my eye. Made me a believer in safety glasses .

I feel like the tire mounting machine should play the ice cream truck song when it rotates. Having a bad day? Mount some tires. But on second thought, Eric may have to leave and get ice cream each time, so there's that.
The only thing that would have made that bearing setup easier was push-in pistons on the calipers.

Speaking of bolt torque I ask my dad how tight to tighten head bolts, he said “get them as tight as you can the tighten them another half turn”. I did break the first head bolt off. He lifted the head off and used his pocket knife to remove the broken of bolt. This happened many years ago. I always enjoy your videos, keep them coming. 👍

I live in Virginia but I had a 2011 Ford fusion that made it to 321,000 mi before the transmission sent it to the salvage yard in March. Besides normal maintenance the only thing I really had to do to it was replace the driver side CV shaft. Even at the end of its life the engine still only burned about 4 oz of oil over a 10,000 mi oil change which I was really impressed with. And I know several people who share the same story about those Fusions. They were great cars.

Mangos are great, mate! We have had mango trees planted on the footpaths(AUS for land between gutter and fence line) here in Sunny, rust free Brisbane, QLD for many years. As a kid we'd climb them and pick the ripe ones, then go home and eat them over the edge of the bath, so the juices ran down your arms then dripped off our elbows into the bath.

Nothing to do with the cars, its the people and lack of care. Hose your car down when you get home on the chassis in winter, have it undercoated and protected good with either a spray on liner or some non-flammable protectorate. Good to go. Also try and drive as little as possible on roads right after they were treated, never drive along the curbside lane where the salt brine collects.

Because of you and your videos and everything I’ve learned from you I now work in a garage in England and I have just one question, how on earth do you make changing a tyre look so easy? I’ve only been doing them for a few months and I still haven’t got the hang of them!

Great demo on doing that wheel bearing! I can't believe you couldn't talk them into a new disc rotor, that one looked like the rings around Saturn with all those groves...

My thoughts exactly. Eric, how could you let that slip by you?

The pads are already the contoured to the rotor. Why ruin a good thing? :)
