This is so awesome Cory!!
You both are awesome!

Cory wong presentig his guitar: *does a professional video with Fender*
Joe Dart presenting his bass:"when you're playing in a show and you find that you bass sounds to loud or to quiet, we putted an unmistakable, can't miss it volume knob"
Cory : panic button for the fourth postion
Jack Stratton- What is that controlling?
@@jeevakrishnan4500 hahahahahaha
you think Vlance Armstrength is shifting into the active bass boost granny gear in the French Alps?
I was waiting for an "only fourth position" setting
Such a well deserved signature model
I like Cory Wong, He is a great guitarist and one of those ppl who become a legend in the future!
He already is a legend to a lot of people - it’s just a matter of time until he becomes a mainstream legend!
@@geralr yes and he is humble
"no matter what guitar you play you're gonna sound like yourself"
wow just stab me through the heart why don't you, dooming me to sound forever like garbage
Well then learn how to play better.
As you improve you will be the future-current version of you.
hearing cory using effects was something that i wasn't ready for
You can check out the details of his pedalboard in a couple of other RUclips videos.
ascended from the fourth position into the fourth dimension lmao

@@snicker576 YEs, I lOve lowerCase
That guy named after vulf's song got a signature
That 4th position panic button is genius. I bump my selector all the time so it would definitely get a lot of use if my Strat had one.
Imagine loving a guitar so much you name your kid after it.
Joe Dart on the Joe Dart and Cory Wong on the Cory Wong
And Mark Lettieri on the Mark Lettieri
@@thefinkiewicz When will Nate Smith get his own set of Nate Smiths
Amazing! Looking forward to trying that Cory Wong Stratocaster+Quad Cortex combo!
Cory Wong is a beautiful sounding player, inspirational, I’m glad he got a signature model.
Wow congrats to Cory man. What an amazing guitarist, composer, performer, dad, and just all around great guy.
Does it come with the duct tape on the switch selector ?
Lol. No, just the panic button that will switch it the electronics to the 4th position if you accidentally get to the fifth.
@@ThatOtherRaccoon I thought you were joking because he’s almost strictly a 4th position player. There really is a panic button
Loving the decoy amp in the back. This is just as much an ad for the Cory Wong Neural DSP archetype as it is for this (incredible) guitar
maybe he is just using effects from the quad cortex and not the amp sim?
@@JStillwell-wm3ln Look at 4:35, do you see those blue blocks on the grid of the quad cortex, those are likely cab sims. So most likely you're hearing only the quad cortex
Fender insists on decoy amps. That's why Mayer left as well cos Fender got insecure at him using his two rocks and wanted their shit on the stage and not his other amps
@@stephm0 H! We plugged Cory's pedals directly into the Super-Reverb Tonematser. We did not take an out from his quad into anything else. In fact, we had a few Fender amps on set that day and he chose the Super-Reverb himself. You're hearing a mix of the mics and the DI from the amp.
@@johndreyer6821 hey you have a pretty sweet job! 👍
Nice Quad Cortex on the floor!
I have wanted a signature guitar ever really, but there are so really cool modern features to this strat, that I’m just completely sold on, plus that matte blue is so nice!
I can see a lot of people re-wiring the 4th position emergency switch into a switch that turns on the neck pickup. Then in the 5th position you can have the neck/bridge pickups on and in the 4th position you can turn on the neck pickup and have all 3 pickups on.
This strat matches Cory so well, they're even wearing the same clothes. Amazing!!
I luv this guy and finally he got his first sig model
Congrats, Cory! Seems like a beautiful and thoughtful instrument! Look forward to hearing it in action :)
Sounds beautiful! ❤️🎸
It makes me happy when we finally get these new sig models and it's guitars worth buying.
Congrats Cory!! Well deserved!!
Hey guys I went to my local shop and tried this guitar , is lovely. I did noticed that on position 4 the hum is basically 100% canceled , are you aware if this guitar has what is called RWRP "reverse wound reverse polarity" in the middle pick up ?
Fender Stratocasters are the most beautiful in red or blue, but sadley those are the rarest colors.
Fender, please make Mexican Player or 60's version of this and Mark Knopflers red strat!
I've been wanting one for over 20 years now!
the ability to jump back and forth to fourth with a button is very convenient
I'm honestly surprised that Cory Wong and Nile Rodgers can exist in the same universe. Cory is like a pre-re-incarnation of Nile
I was fortunate enough to play one of these yesterday during Sam Ash closing store. Gosh, what a nice guitar. I don't think I could ever afford it, but what a dream guitar.
Wow, Minneapolis? I remember what I saw recently in 2021 when Mr. Prince Rogers Nelson stated in interview with Mr. Larry King I am just paraphrasing, that : do not need to go outside to create music in LA NY, etc. because : " Minneapolis always get it done ", I wanted to say that because it seems great music and those iconic guitars like the one you showing now and you from Minneapolis? Very beautiful guitar.
I wonder and when I am ready if I can order this under the Fender series this exquisite guitar :
Cory Wong guitar in blue like the one I see and left handed made or it's one of a kind so hard to make?
I practice when I can, left-handed and also have a viola left-handed too.
Thank you for this amazing upload and stay healthy Mr. Wong.😎👍🎸🎵🎼🍁
That elastic band thing is new to me. Thanks Wong!
Interesting thought on the smaller body design 👀 reminds me I should have bought a highway one back in high school
Bought my 66 yr old wife,a highway one yr ago.I,m 70.She won’t let me touch it
@@teknomanning sounds like you chose a smart gal 😂😂 they chip paint when you look at them wrong!
@@IIllIIllIl yes they do! I bought it used , in the teal green. She’s a better player than me😊

Does it come with the mime shirt too
Amazing
5:43 I love this
Sold. I need that pick up lock 🔒
Cory is my guitar hero!
Does anyone know what he's playing at the beginning?
Sir Cory Wong, what pick gauge do you use for rhythm/lead playing? .73/.88/1.00/1.15mm? Medium/Heavy?Thanks
Is that first riff from a song? It's stunning
Cory is changing the strat game
Subtítulos en español!! Genio Cory ;
My favorite contemporary player. You are great. Is that a Fender Super Reverb amp behind?
It is a great guitar.I would love it if it had a maple board too.
I cant believe Cory said fretboard makes a difference in tone lol anyone who thinks maple is too "bright"....ever heard of a tone knob?
@@robertr8421 Good point. Feel? Yes. Look? Yes. Tone? Lol not really mann... And it's nothing that tone knobs, string types, play styles, and amp settings etc etc can't compensate for.
is the pickguard regular size? (the body is not, so i wonder if i could change it for another one)
ever found this out?
Nice dude , nice guitar.
Love this guy and this guitar but at this price I gotta catch the Squier run.
Isn't his famous guitar a $300 one he modded? I'm a bit surprised this one comes in at two grand.
@@bevinroue5788 highway ones were like $600 new 20 years ago, with inflation and the upgrades and the signature premium it’s not an unfair price. But yeah still too rich for my blood lol.
sweet tone
What if I already have a highway one strat?
The guitar was named after the guy that was named after a Vulfpeck song.
Cory Wong on the Cory Wong playing Cory Wong
This is even more specific than the Tom Morello sig. Only Tom's has some really awesome features. This is a beautiful Strat and probably just for you if you're a Cory Wong fan. Didn't even know who he was until about 6 months ago. This makes me want to go home and play my Vintera 50s Start modified.
Finally!
Does it have the same push-pull than Élite ?
I really thought you were playing Brand New - Jesus Christ in the intro for a second lol.
We need to get the Wong sig and the Joe Dart Jr in the same room stat
Waiting till I get a Commes des Garcons signature Cory Wong striped T-shirt
Is the body a little bit smaller or thinner ???
That intro thing was very not Cory song but holy crap that was beutiful
funk machine😎
I was scrolling down too fast and misread this lol
compound radius doesn't affect intonation though
He probably is referring to how the hand when pressing down notes can slightly bend the strings a bit, specially when playing in the upper register, with this Cory maybe keeps his hand in the exact posture he needs to play easily so the strings don’t bend much and the notes are perfectly in tune (or as “in tune” as they can be)
Anyone knows what’s the song at 13:31? Much appreciated!
Airplane mode off his record Elevator music for an Elevated Mood
FOURTH POSITION
play by feel!
Looks very close to my Strat, except this one is way cooler.
Quad Cortex spotted =D
Congrats Cory! Its crazy that he bought the original strat because it was cheap and something he can afford now fender recreated it and its cost too much for some of us ironic huh!😅
Fender these days is no longer the working mans guitar. Many of their strats now are 2500 bucks or more. Back in the 50s and 60s you were able to snag these bad boys for about 300. 90s? About 500-1000. Today? Get fucked today lol. Go the partscaster route if you ask me. Sure you gotta put in the work and research but it's wayyy better and wayyy cheaper to be your own custom shop
@@soyborne.bornmadeandundone1342if you adjust for inflation it’s about the exact same price
Now give his bass player a Precision Bass.
Would love that but he already has a signature bass with ernie ball music man
Maybe in the future if the band is still active. Not all musicians change time from time.
@@an.esc_1105 I almost forgot about that. If you’re talking about Joe Dart, he was featured in some demonstration videos with Ernie Ball Music Man. I saw him play a 5-string and a 6-string bass, which I never knew he’d get his hands on one of them.
Cory Wong is a fantastic guitarist but I think this is ambivalent. You can get a Fender Highway One between $800 and $1000. A set of SD Cory Wong Pickups on it and you save €1000.
true, but a highway one doesn't have a contoured neck heel or compound radius. They're not really similar guitars if you look deeper.
@@racerx3065 Go back in history and look at what some of the greatest guitar players in the world started playing on, That said all the cute little point's about the guitar doesn't matter None of those are gonna make you sound any better. Not a single one.
@@gatormcklusky5850 huh? we're talking about physical differences here?
@@racerx3065 True but the dude did say that his old high way one is STILL his fav guitar.
"Feels home to me" His exact words.
So honestly... This guitar is only for big fanboys and big shots who can toss cash around easily.
Want the true cory wong feel? Get a high way one... Or even a murican special (it's successor) which is also super duper close to a high way one.
@@racerx3065 Yes but those differences are so slight that no one serious gives a crap lol. Like Gerald said. Hendrix used a vintage style 60s strat for the most part. It didn't have the bells and whistles of wongs sig AT ALL and he rocked harder than anyone. Let's get real! Same for frusciante. Same for jeff buckley when it comes to teles. See our point? These small changes don't matter that much and for a extra grand? Psh you kiddin me? LOL!
Like I said in my earlier comment. If you're a collecter, trader, or just big shot blow hard who can toss cash around like nothing. Fine. But if you're a average joe who's interested in wongs sig? There are better ways to capture his feel, look, and sound, THAT DON'T INVOLVE WASTING THIS MUCH MONEY! You can pretty much say this about all sig guitars lol.
And like Dave janssen just said... This thing costs 2 friggin grand lol. Much better off getting a highway one or even better, a super custom mjt partscaster or something similar. Sure you gotta build it yourself but it's kind of like computers... Building your own is ultimately better. You just gotta put in the work.
Now they can use all of the unused Bonnie Raitt strat bodies, I'm pretty sure they were even the same color
Bonnie's was a blue burst if I can recall it.
Are the Seymour Duncan Pickups available serparatly?
Did you ever figure this out? I was wondering too.
@@rize7577 no it‘s Not :(
@@marcohollaender6787 ah, well thanks for responding.
The fact its not permanently stuck in the fourth position is making me suspicious
What’s the LAST. song he plays here? It’s driving me crazy. I keep thinking it’s off Bright Sized Life or a Weather Report progression. But I can’t place it .. thanks! . Oh,… thin skin good. An ultra heel with nitro .. sweet, automatic position knob ..yes but not 4 for me,.. smaller body .. can we have a comparison? Pickups hmm?
Used to be able to grab a highway 1 strat for 600$ all day.
Cory Wong playing Cory Wong on the Cory Wong. What's not to love about that?
🎸❤️😍
Firewood!
Did Cory say a slightly smaller body?
Does he mean in oversize not thickness? If yes then I am interested a slightly smaller strat body is a great idea 💡
Me too
that right hand is a metronome
That volume knob prevents a free-flowing strumming especially for funk rhythm. You can't maximize a Fender Strat unless that volume knob is relocated. 😊
Fun Fact: He is left handed
What's the amp he uses? Seems a g system on the floor.
It's a Neural DSP Quad Cortex
I love this….but does anyone feel the price is a little high?
Agreed. You can just buy an actual highway one
Did he talk about the pickups?
They're his signature Seymour Duncan pickups.
@@joshundrwd cool
What is he playing in the beginning ?
I want to use that
That sounds spacious and majestic
he was using a neural quad cortex
Is it worth the price
It looks basic and elegant at the same time, timeless I should say
lovely small body !!!
Yellow
LOL! Only Fender could get away with making Corey say that having to put elastic (No hardtail for you, Corey!) on his guitar is a plus AND not let him talk about the pickups so nobody hears him say the words Seymour and Duncan. Also, for those who thinks it makes a difference, the "lacquer" is not nitro. That said: the D****** pickups sound very nice and the "D" neck with the compound radius (Also on the Ultra) is easily in the top 2 or 3 necks Fender has ever made. As longa s I'm nerding. less wood on the body combined with the chunkier neck means a different neck/body weight ratio which in turn means a slightly snappier tone, IMO. If this were a hardtail, I'd buy it, but I guess I'll just throw the PUPs in my Ultra and head down to the elastic aisle at Sofro.
Sweet a more expensive highway one strat
It's a great customisation of it.The carve, pickups, compound radius, heel curve, locking tuners, switch and whatever else.Plus it comes with a deluxe moulded case too !!
It would be perfect if it had a maple board for me.
@@StratsRUs just order a highway one model and mod it yourself...I'm a bit of a strat snob since I own a 1960
Gotta love how you have the Fender amp prominently in the back, but the Quad Cortex sneakily sitting just out of frame for most shots
No hate, just found it funny, and absolutely great on him for getting his own signature, and great on Fender for another great addition to the family
Sooo much talent! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
The Cory Strat Wongcaster
and a quad cortex on the floor with wampler compressor...lol
why not build just a hardtail strat?
Exactly what I'm doing lolz
I bought one of these and called Fender to get a new pickguard because I damaged mine. I can’t just order a new one from some other company because the one on this guitar is not shaped liked a normal strat pickguard. Fender support told me tough luck, we can’t give a replacement. Meanwhile, they probably have stacks of these in their shop. $2000 bucks and no support. Thanks a lot.

This gitfiddle is so Wong that it's right😉
