    Great playing Cooper, as usual 🤙

    When you think about it, Corey Wong is probably the most famous contemporary guitar player besides John Mayer and besides the Country genre.

      @Ri-Ci 3 года назад +4

      Cory’s got a ways to go. I think they’re a generation or two apart. Cory is really just getting started, plus he’s a self-published musician who’s figuring out how to break into mainstream on a non-traditional route, it’s been exciting watching him do a flurry of albums and finally getting his first Grammy nomination this year. John Mayer is the last of the traditional record-backed singer-songwriter stars who still does amazing performances, but I get the feeling his best is behind him, he’s not really looking to break any ground by touring with Dead and Co, he’s comfortable just doing the same things he’s had success with for his older fan base and he’s not adapting to the changing landscape. Meanwhile Cory is releasing an album a month and collaborating with a wide swath of musicians that are pushing his skills farther while primarily living in the social media and Bandcamp realm. Mayer’s influence is Clapton, while you can almost picture Prince playing beside Cory. I think Cory is the most exciting guitarist of the up and coming generation of self-publishing, do-it-all musicians who are challenging the traditional record label business model. There are loads of guitarists on RUclips who are bucking this model and carving out their own niche like Rob Scallon and loads more who are just getting started like Chris Buck. The guitar space is getting hot and crowded again and I welcome it.

      Cory Wong is like Nile Rodgers for millennials. I enjoy listening to it. I like the baritone + guitar sound of Vulfpeck but I'd never say he is the most important guitarist of 2020's. That's all. As much as I hate John Mayer's douchy voice, his guitar playing chops are miles ahead. One thing is strumming some chords, the other is to play Hendrix-y lead/rhythm while singing and executing it flawlessly.

    • @geralr
      @geralr 3 года назад

      @@accidentals_hacks i don’t think that John Mayer’s chops are better than Cory’s.. they’re just different styles. Try listening to “The fearless flyers” - all of the things they record are live in a band (as opposed to isolating every player). Getting that rhythm and timing right is very difficult. This is not to say that John is better than Cory or vice versa, they’re just experts in their own realm.

    The hair band is 100% for the springs in the back :) Cory wraps the band around the springs to dampen/mute the resonance; it was messing with his percussive style.

    If you play like Cory accidental kicking the selector OUT of 4th position is a real thing. It’s simply a challenge to AVOID kicking it out of 4th position while playing with such a funky right hand technique. Hence the feature on his sig guitar

    Yea, twelve (12) minutes of talking before any playing, great concept for a demo. Followed by 4 MORE min. of talking after Cooper plays short while - that's 16+ min. of talk in an 18 min. guitar demo, new YT record - congrats Alamos. Much of the yaking could've been stated with overlays on the screen while Cooper was playing, right? Then he could've played longer - a very good thing.

    It's a freaking strat. With a 4th position panic button. Slightly
    smaller than a regular strat. Not some vintage strat -- a budget 22
    fret strat, the lowest in the line of USA-made strats turned into a
    signature strat. Why? I respect Cory as a musician but I would never
    fork over money to get the same exact stratocaster that has been sold
    for decades. Other strats have unique features, like even the GIlmour
    strat with the short tremolo arm and an ability to add 3 pickups. Or
    Malmsteen strat with a brass nut and scalloped neck. I guarantee you,
    nobody will ask you "oh my gawwd, is that a Cory Wong signature?
    sweet!!!". Stupid.....

    • @elgwengarimondsazon5581
      @elgwengarimondsazon5581 3 года назад

      you're right, its not a vintage strat. its not supposed to be. why do you think its modelled after an American ultra strat? by your logic then the ultra series are "budget" strats too.

    • @accidentals_hacks
      @accidentals_hacks 3 года назад

      @@elgwengarimondsazon5581 so a highway 1 or whatever strat is what he plays. So why have a signature that is identical to that pretty much, but 200 dollars more because it’s a signature strat

    • @elgwengarimondsazon5581
      @elgwengarimondsazon5581 3 года назад +1

      @@accidentals_hacks it’s more identical to an ultra strat than his highway one. pretty sure all the looks of the guitar is just so that it looks likes the strat he usually plays because it’s his signature. i agree $2000 is expensive. but at the same time. it’s the same price as a guitar that it’s currently modeled after, the american ultra strat.
