Great video and good attitude for getting stuck-in with such a daunting task! I noticed you’ve got a vacuum can on your dissy. Just wondering where your vacuum take-off is on your idf’s? And what vacuum signal you’re getting through the rev range? 40idf’s are notoriously bad for vacuum. Could this contribute to the poor idle/ flat spot? I’m running a similar set up on my 67 type 1 with 1776 and i’m contemplating a 123 ignition to try and achieve better control over mech and vac advance curves.
Thanks. I'm using the brass vac port that's in the side of the carb that's normally capped off with a small screw. It seems to work. I've been tempted by the 123 distributor. I'd be curious to see how you get on with it.

How is the upgrade going on IDF carbs? was the upgrade worth it?
It threw the tuning a mile out. I'm still trying to get that sorted out. There'll be a follow up video on that.
@@Endfloat Thanks.
Number 1 reason with IDF idle jet blockage is your air filters and/or filter assemblies.
Can you recommend and alternative?
@@Endfloat Be sure and get a set of good filter base & tops preferably non stamped steel/metal.
Settings on the camera off? Only 360p quality available.
HD is still processing. Give it a few mins. I put it live as soon as I was finished editing which I don't normally do.
No problem just making you aware
Thanks! I appreciate that.
I should maybe get off my arse and do something with my own beetle than worry about if a video on RUclips has hd or not🙄
@@markwalsh8411 trust me, I'm often guilty of the same thing!
Are those Spanish 40 IDF Webers?
I don't know to be honest.
@Endfloat
The stamping is at the bottom of the carburetors flange, next to the throttle plates.
@Endfloat
I like to do the same modification to my carburetors some day, but I don't want to screw up.
@@vintage76vipergreenBeetle I don't remember seeing anything that would suggest they are Spanish carbs.
@@Endfloat Okay, so you have the Chinese copy Weber carbs.
