I'm a Filipino and I SUPER Love Indonesia so much because of many reasons:
1.Indonesian Language that I learned on Duolingo
2.Puteri Indonesia and Miss Indonesia which I admired candidates
3.I like to visit Bali, Jakarta and many other cities in Indonesia
4.I want to find new Indonesian friends/Filipino Community there in Jakarta and in case to find my true love there, lol
5.I want to eat Indonesian food like Nasi Goreng and Rendang
6.I want to ride Kerata Api in Indonesia since I don't ride train here since birth, lol
7.I like cheap to stay there in Jakarta or elsewhere
8.I try to sing Indonesia Raya aside Lupang Hinirang(Practice Makes Perfect) because this is my favorite national anthem

Since I’m an Indonesian from Borneo, for me the Filipinos are the most similar to us in Southeast Asia. We have so many things in common, from languages to food. BTW you’re wrong about a lot of things, pork is really is not that hard to find in Indonesia outside of Bali. Here in Borneo we have a lot of local porky specialties, some of are similar to the ones found in the Philippines. There are Indonesian provinces with strong non-Muslim traditions as well 😬
But of course I’m biased. Of course an Indonesian from Sumatra will feel closest to Malaysia, someone from West Timor would share a lot of things with Timor-Leste, while someone from Papua see people from Papua New Guinea as brethren, so it really depends on where in Indonesia you’re from 😊
Cheers to both Indonesia and the Philippines! 🇮🇩 🍻 🇵🇭

I'm an Indonesian who spent high school and college years in the Philippines. I love both countries. Btw Indonesia did not entirely reject Dutch heritage. Indonesia uses 3000 Dutch loanwords, the Dutch law and eat some Dutch influenced food (well mostly snacks). But yes, Indonesia did not absorb Dutch culture as much as the Philippines does with Spanish culture. IMO, first it's probably because when the Dutch came, the region, now called Indonesia, comprised of many kingdoms, large and small. Some had very strong cultures due to existing religions like Islam, Hinduism or Budhism. Second, the Dutch came to the region mainly for economic reason (to extract resources), unlike the Spaniards who come to the Philippines for all the Gs (Gold, Gospel and Glory). In fact, the Dutch prevented most Indonesians from undertanding Dutch language.

believe me ... if you're a foreigner who doesn't know Tagalog and Bahasa at all, then you have to hear Phinoy, Indonesian, and Malaysian speak in their own language ... you would think Phinoy and Indonesian are the same, but not to Malaysian

I do agree with your explanation, i just add info that Indonesian people like their local language than other language, mostly Indonesian people can speak at least 3 language: their own local language, another surrounding local language and of course they speak bahasa Indonesia... but many Indonesian people can speak more than 4 language just example: I am Javanese but i can speak Javanese as my local language, but also i speak madurese language, bahasa Indonesia, and also I can speak English and Arabic and little bit Japanese language...

5:23 He said Nasi Padang. Not nasi panang. Actually it's not really hard to find pork dishes in Indonesia outside Bali Province because there are many other Provinces and Ethnic Groups in Indonesia that are not muslim majority. You can travel to North Sumatra Province, Almost All Provinces in Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo), East Nusa Tenggara Province, Maluku Province, North Sulawesi Province, All Indonesian Provinces on Papua Island, Nias Island, and Mentawai Island and you can find more Indonesian pork dishes with diverse recipes and varieties in those Indonesian Provinces and Islands that outside Bali Province.

I agree fully. For example cost of living. I could feel it after only a few weeks here in the Philippines that it is more expensive in the Phils. More open minded and western influenced, yes more so in the Phils. That is both good and bad. Similar in Indonesia but over all more traditional. The Muslim culture is more conservative than the "Christian" culture over all. Both are kind and friendly but I experience more respect in Bali (which is 90% Hindu) than here so far. They go out of their way from the time you enter a market, even in a common 7-11 type store in Indonesia, especially Bali than here. I think foreigners are less a bid deal here than in Indo over all. Of course they are respectful and kind in both but I give Indonesia the edge by a fraction😊. That said, I love both and will be living her in the Phils for at least a year or longer. Both are amazing as is Thialand.
BTW, the happiest, most genuine and friendliest people I ever met were in Fiji.

Actually no ... Sharia Law in Aceh is not fully implemented
Sharia Law in Aceh is a Province Law, and every province has their own law ... but
The highest law in Indonesia is the State Law ... meaning, everything that is governed by province law can't violate the state law ... plus, province law has limitation that can only govern social relations between citizens with minor punishment handled only by city police
while all crimes with punishment more than 1 year in jail, are regulated according to the state law and handled by State Police
for example, crimes such as killing, stealing, scams etc ... all are regulated under the state law
