Since I’m an Indonesian from Borneo, for me the Filipinos are the most similar to us in Southeast Asia. We have so many things in common, from languages to food. BTW you’re wrong about a lot of things, pork is really is not that hard to find in Indonesia outside of Bali. Here in Borneo we have a lot of local porky specialties, some of are similar to the ones found in the Philippines. There are Indonesian provinces with strong non-Muslim traditions as well 😬
But of course I’m biased. Of course an Indonesian from Sumatra will feel closest to Malaysia, someone from West Timor would share a lot of things with Timor-Leste, while someone from Papua see people from Papua New Guinea as brethren, so it really depends on where in Indonesia you’re from 😊

I'm an Indonesian who spent high school and college years in the Philippines. I love both countries. Btw Indonesia did not entirely reject Dutch heritage. Indonesia uses 3000 Dutch loanwords, the Dutch law and eat some Dutch influenced food (well mostly snacks). But yes, Indonesia did not absorb Dutch culture as much as the Philippines does with Spanish culture. IMO, first it's probably because when the Dutch came, the region, now called Indonesia, comprised of many kingdoms, large and small. Some had very strong cultures due to existing religions like Islam, Hinduism or Budhism. Second, the Dutch came to the region mainly for economic reason (to extract resources), unlike the Spaniards who come to the Philippines for all the Gs (Gold, Gospel and Glory). In fact, the Dutch prevented most Indonesians from undertanding Dutch language.
Thank you so much! Because of this video, I'd like to travel in Indonesia as well!

one I notice from both countries, the ppl from both countries actually have similar dialect and accent - the language is totally different, but the way they speak is similar ...
This is interesting for me, bc Bahasa (Indonesia) is historically rooted from Malay language, but the accent of Indonesians are different from Malaysians or Singaporeans ...
believe me ... if you're a foreigner who doesn't know Tagalog and Bahasa at all, then you have to hear Phinoy, Indonesian, and Malaysian speak in their own language ... you would think Phinoy and Indonesian are the same, but not to Malaysian
but ... when you start to understand the language, you will know that Indonesian and Malaysian are actually speaking in the same language 😁👍

pH and Indonesian is very different accent.
Filipino is more soft compare to Indonesia.

But we have Bisaya in Philippines and it's my mother tongue language.
Which is the most similar accent in Bahasa.
But in Tagalog(Filipino) it's totaly different.
Also Filipino language is the most sexiest accent In Asia according to Google😅

Please do ask the foreigner to compare accent of ppl in Jakarta and Manila - since both are capital city where mixed ppl live ... they would think like I said
Speaking of local accent, in Indonesia there's also Javanese that known for their super soft accent ... Javanese accent speak Bahasa wouldn't be considered as general accent ... it's local accent, the same like Balinese, etc
Here I'm talking about general accent which mostly in big city like Manila or Jakarta ... then compare this to ppl who live in Kuala Lumpur 😉👍

Both Indonesia and the Philippines have lots of beautiful natural resources. They look like heaven on earth
Short🧙muslim🧕capping😂
I'm from The Philippines. And I love our cousin neighbour country Indonesia. Greetings to all Indonesian. We love you all!!!
You should check Lake Toba, Tapanuli in North Sumatra Indonesia. Here we have 91% Protestant population, great Batak cultures, and of course magnificent nature of Lake Toba in the world's biggest supervolcano.
Philippines: 7,641 islands. Wow. This video was more informative than other Indonesia-Philippines comparison videos.
BOTH COUNTRY NOT GOOD ,THEY NOTHING COMPARED WITH MY INDIA SUPERPOWER 🇮🇳🤗THIS WHY IM SO LUCKY LIVE IN SUPER INDIA THE CLEANEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD 🇮🇳🤗 , WE NEVER SCAM! WE GIVE RESPECT TO ALL WOMEN THEY CAN WALK SAFELY ALONE AT NIGHT AND WE HAVE CLEAN FOOD AND TOILET EVERYWHERE 🇮🇳🤗🚽, I KNOW MANY POOR PEOPLE JEALOUS WITH SUPER RICH INDIA 🤗🇮🇳🤗🇮🇳🤗🇮🇳🤗🇮🇳🤗🇮🇳🤗
Yes in the past, 7107 was the common number of Islands until 2016
I do agree with your explanation, i just add info that Indonesian people like their local language than other language, mostly Indonesian people can speak at least 3 language: their own local language, another surrounding local language and of course they speak bahasa Indonesia... but many Indonesian people can speak more than 4 language just example: I am Javanese but i can speak Javanese as my local language, but also i speak madurese language, bahasa Indonesia, and also I can speak English and Arabic and little bit Japanese language...
i love Indonesia!🇮🇩
we have a similar geographic make up, the same tropical paradise and climate. the same physical features.
but Indonesian islands are Majestic!
if you have ASEAN blood, you'll be proud of Indonesia!🇮🇩🇵🇭
Nah Geographically, Culturally, Ethnically, Linguistically, etc indonesia has no similarity with Philippines they are related to Papuans, Australia Aborigines, Melanesians, etc while Filipinos are related to Chinese, Native Americans, Iberians Europeans, etc
I love Indonesia!!! 🥰 -from the Philippines
three islands side by side
Bali : Hinduism
Lombok : Muslim
Komodo island : Christian
Suku komodo...or Komodo people are muslims
Komodo itu mayoritas islam, tpi pulau komodo masuk ke dlk provinsu ntt yg mayoritas kristen . Sama kyk toraja mayoritas kristen tpi masuk dlm provinsi sulsel yg mayoritas islam
The reason why I haven't go to Philippines because it's too similar to Indonesia 😂
But I see they have beautiful beaches. Maybe someday I'll go there.
You are very wekcome to visit brother🙏
Visit and see the differences
Similar? Indonesians are small, dark, Muslims and the streets are full of garbage and football riots so how are we similar??🤨
I think there are a lot of differences. But I understand what you mean, I always want to see countries that are completely different from my own.
Nice vlog
NSA for you
. watching from Olongapo city Zambales Philippines 🇵🇭
Hampir seluruh sisi kedua negara memiliki kemiripan yang sangat berkerabat. Zaman sebelum era modern orang-orang kedua negara sudah terbiasa untuk saling berkunjung jadi miripnya kedua negara seimbanglah
I like your comparison way...Congrats...and Thank U...
5:23 He said Nasi Padang. Not nasi panang. Actually it's not really hard to find pork dishes in Indonesia outside Bali Province because there are many other Provinces and Ethnic Groups in Indonesia that are not muslim majority. You can travel to North Sumatra Province, Almost All Provinces in Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo), East Nusa Tenggara Province, Maluku Province, North Sulawesi Province, All Indonesian Provinces on Papua Island, Nias Island, and Mentawai Island and you can find more Indonesian pork dishes with diverse recipes and varieties in those Indonesian Provinces and Islands that outside Bali Province.
How about in Jakarta?
@@wavemaker2077well you can find pork dish at Chinese restaurants in some areas in Jakarta especially Chinatown like Glodok or PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk)
@@wavemaker2077 actually, if you come to Chinese area in every cities (although it's muslim majority) ... you can have pork dishes
Or for example there's one Mall in South Jakarta (which majority is non Chinese) ... the Mall offers food court that serves pork dishes with notification "non halal" ... ppl can eat there if they want to, pretty much nobody will judge or forbid
Batak and Manado restaurant usually serve pork(and even dog meat)on the menu. and the number of those restaurant in Jakarta keep increasing.
@@FreyjaWion also bat soup😂
Birds of the same feather flock together. The reason to love Indonesia. 🇵🇭
I am from Indonesia.. in order to cook very delicious food we use many herbs.. especially if we deal with meat it is burdensome to cook the recipe but it is worth it your effort
the power of micin
Thank you.
Seems both people from both country are very nice, kind people.
And, that is all we need in this world.
#Peace!
Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Malay Singapore, Malay Thailand, and East Timor can understand each other.
source: trust me bro
Indonesia is Austronesia not Malay
@@user-dj4lz6gz2inot all Indonesians are of Austronesian race,, the Austronesian race includes Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi, while the Javanese, Bali, Madura are an Austroasiatic race,, eastern Indonesians, such as Papua, Maluku, ntt Melanesian race
Not really
That's true 😂 Malay, Indo, Brunei basically can sit together and talk with their language.
I had a friend from Philippines and had a same job with me but they are so friendly 😊
Sure littleman
I agree fully. For example cost of living. I could feel it after only a few weeks here in the Philippines that it is more expensive in the Phils. More open minded and western influenced, yes more so in the Phils. That is both good and bad. Similar in Indonesia but over all more traditional. The Muslim culture is more conservative than the "Christian" culture over all. Both are kind and friendly but I experience more respect in Bali (which is 90% Hindu) than here so far. They go out of their way from the time you enter a market, even in a common 7-11 type store in Indonesia, especially Bali than here. I think foreigners are less a bid deal here than in Indo over all. Of course they are respectful and kind in both but I give Indonesia the edge by a fraction😊. That said, I love both and will be living her in the Phils for at least a year or longer. Both are amazing as is Thialand.
BTW, the happiest, most genuine and friendliest people I ever met were in Fiji.
Both are different as well
I loved the way you compare Philippines VS Indonesia, ❤you touch beauty of each country, from archipelago, culture, food sports etc 💖 Thank you 💖
Why compare ? Indonesia is our Big Brother ... 💚💚.. Big respect !!! From Manila, Philippines
We are Indonesia and Malaysias father
Badminton is also popular in the Philippines. Every decent school has a badminton court or would put a makeshift court during intramurals and foundation day.
Also, they’re both the top trash talkers in mobile legends and other pvp games.
I honestly like both nations, vibrant, kind people, good nature and all. But if i had to pic one, it would be Indonesia for me.

Lol majority of foreign travellers literally stated that Philippines🇵🇭the best country in the world. No travellers has ever said your country Indonesia🇲🇨is the best haha
How sad😢
@@Psycho-th8vb
That's why Philipines visited only 8 million tourists and the other side Indonesia visited 18 million tourists.
Yeaahhh... Pinoy always the overproud ones
@@Psycho-th8vbit's only your opinion haha
🇲🇨❤️🇵🇭
When we Filipino's go to Indonesia alot would think we are locals and vice versa.. Love both country also Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and the likes.. 🇵🇭
Great video Gus, anyway shout out to my Filipinos brothers and sisters, let's improve our country to be better, and I have a dream where ASEAN would be as good as EU, It's a big dream I know, but I have faith in us and the rest of ASEAN countries, peace!
Wow! Nice. Maraming salamat, dude!
2:53 correct me if i'm wrong but i think Acheh is the only part in Indonesia that fully implemented Sharia law's .
Yes, that’s true
That's more accurate
Actually no ... Sharia Law in Aceh is not fully implemented
Sharia Law in Aceh is a Province Law, and every province has their own law ... but
The highest law in Indonesia is the State Law ... meaning, everything that is governed by province law can't violate the state law ... plus, province law has limitation that can only govern social relations between citizens with minor punishment handled only by city police
while all crimes with punishment more than 1 year in jail, are regulated according to the state law and handled by State Police
for example, crimes such as killing, stealing, scams etc ... all are regulated under the state law
ganja dan sabu sabu shariah law in aceh 😂😂
Thanks sir for your appreciate in our country Philippines god bless you
