Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1980 in Richmond, California.[1] Spanning a career of over 30 years, Exodus has gone through numerous lineup changes, two extended hiatuses, and the deaths of two former band members. Guitarist Gary Holt remains the only constant member of the band, appearing on all their releases. Drummer Tom Hunting is one of the founding members, and departed from the band twice but has since returned to the lineup.
Testament is an American metal band from Berkeley, California,[1] formed in 1983. They are often credited as one of the most popular bands of the 1980s thrash metal scene.[2][3][4] In the 28 years since its inception, Testament has had numerous lineup changes, and guitarist Eric Peterson has been the only constant member, although the band currently also features two of its original members, Alex Skolnick (guitarist) and Greg Christian (bass). Chuck Billy replaced former singer Steve Souza in 1986, prior to the recording of their first studio album, The Legacy, and has been a member of the band since.

I was fortunate enough to see exodus open for testament this year. Fuckin kick ass show.
Both of these bands are absolutely amazing...this has to be the most difficult decision of the day for me...I guess I'll just have to listen to both of their catologues all the way through several times and see which one hurts my neck more

both are favorite bands of my. Exodus is more agressive, Testament more melodic. Both 2 of the biggest Thrash metal bands ever. As a guitarist i prefer to play Testament songs while their riffs and solo's are more melodic and kick-ass to play.

Testament is and has been on a much higher level. They would crush the Big 4 with ease. I would add, nothing wrong with Exodus either. Seen both in a club concert front row just a few years ago here.

And they still had a bigger mosh-pit going. Really shows you how well they and their music connect with their fans.
Great video man. Although seems like sort of an uneven match (Testament). Overkill v. Exodus might be a little more even. Or Destruction v. Kreator... or how about Evile v. Warbringer?

If you want to hear aggresively magical riffs and virtuoso leads.. Testament is the right choice!
if you want to get down the street, drive fast, do some drive by, and some road kill, Exodus is what you have to choose!!

Both bands are awesome. But since I've seen Testament live, I have to go with them.
Exodus is pure raw violence. Testament is more technical and not so fast. I would prefer to be on the concert of Exodus, but better to listen is Testament.
I dont look at this as a VS, i look at this as DESTRUCTION!

my personal opinion:
Vocals : Testament > Exodus
Guitar riffs : Testament = Exodus
Guitar solos: Testament > Exodus
Drums : Exodus > Testament
By these standards Testament win this one and it makes sense 'cause I really like them more. Either way Exodus is amazing too.

These two bands should be doing a world tour besides, overkill and kreator...the underground big four of trash metal......all 4 bands have survived like the other big 4 making great albums playing around the world in every gutter available....what do you think!!!!!
The drumming in the Gathering was done by Lombardo of Slayer who filled in for just that one album. I would take Exodus and Tom Hunting's work over the rest of the Testament albums.

Testament is bigger than Exodus, therefore they get more funding for their shows, therefore it's always a better live show. Easy comparison since they both play identical styles of music.

Technically Chuck is an original member of Testament.Before that they were called Legacy.
I would go for Testament but Exodus is also great.

I like testament abit more, but I put those 2 bans in the real metal category that mainly occupied by 80's thrash metal bans.
Tough call. Alex Skolnick is awesome. Gary Holt is an animal and the other guys really good too. So, it has to come down to the tunes. Ill have to go with Exodus. They just have so many more great tunes IMO.

I love'em both but Testament sounds a little more powerful.
As a Speed metal freak for the past 30 years, Exodus take the price only cuz they invented Speed Metal. Kirk Hammett copied their style and brought it over to Metallica and we know what happened. There would not be Testament without Exodus. One of the orignal speed metal bands. Listen to BONDED BY BLOOD and you will agree with me. THANK YOU MOPTHERFUCKERS.

Well I think you mean thrash metal, and we all know thrash started With Dave Mustaine and the riffs he wrote for the first thrash record Kill em' all. Kirk and Exodus were simple following the trend that Metallica had started. Testament came along shortly after all that. As far as the debate goes I favor Testament, but Exodus always kick serious ass live! It's a strait draw.
personal,i think exodus sounds much better and is more heavier than testament.both have great guitar players,awsome drummers.chuck billy owns rob dukes.I really don't know why tom hunting is so underrated-he is at least at the same level with gene hoglan,dave lombardo or paul bostaph,this guys are best metal drummers.

Song for song?..listen to Funeral Hymn by Exodus and then listen to The Evil Has Landed by Testament...Exodus has the edge.....pure THRASH HELL for over 8 minutes...but this is just a stupid comparison..both bands have put in the years of excellence and both bands deserve our credit....these are just opinions..which are just opinions..either way they both put on a sick show.
Testament makes me want to headbang..Exodus makes me want to destroy my room...and gouge out eyeballs.....Exodus has been murder since the very beginning...Lee and Gary's solos are way tighter...not saying anything Testament does is bad..I just like Exodus way better...I would donate a kidney to either band.
The problem with Exodus ? Many changes of members during the years. Testament is there, also Exodus and Why? Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and ANTHRAX.Something happened in that is list, Why Anthrax? Exodus and Testament are better than those Indians.

but still testament is better than exodus....they never overplay
