I have a TC-D905 and it has very good functions too, like the "ARL" (automatic adjustment of the recording volume) and its AU-BUS link with the CD, which allows selecting a cassette duration (C46, C60 or C90) and performs automatic recording from CD: find the highest peak of sound on the disc, adjust the ARL, distribute the songs to both sides and do the whole recording (leaving 10 seconds at the beginning, and 3 between songs) Now he is "sick" his turn to change his belts. What is Auto pause function? On my deck this is inactive... tap the button, but a function is not indicate on display. All clicking buttons are replaced for new.
This function is for dubbing only desired selections, means it is activated only when you copy a cassette from deck 1 to deck 2. Each time one playback selection on deck 1 ends, deck 1 goes into pause mode and deck 2 goes into recording pause mode.
its to insert a 4 second pause between tracks so the AMS works. Useful when the source fades tracks, ie The Cars 'Shoobedoo' into 'Candy-O', there is no pause but the CD will click off another track, although I like that continuity on those tracks. Metallica "Base Solo" into "Whiplash" also comes to mind.

No, if the tape deck is well adjusted, there are no problems with sound or "eaten" tapes
