- The $1.3 billion winner wrote the numbers! Powerball winner Cheng Saephan won a $1.3 billion lottery jackpot in April of 2024. He is splitting the prize with his wife and a friend. Cheng Saephan's story is very inspiring; he has cancer and had his last chemotherapy treatment a few days prior to claiming the prize.
A very spiritual person, Cheng Saephan wrote the lottery numbers on a piece of paper and slept with it under his pillow for two weeks prior to winning the lottery. He won on a computer generated quick pick and said that God chose the numbers for him.

I was going to say.. if you're trying to get interviews for the show, try hitting up the winners lawyers with a polite invitation to the show.. Those aren't all taxes. He took the lump sum. If you take the lump sum the lottery will only reward you approximately half of the jackpot because the advertised jackpot amount is actually a 30-year annuity.
As someone from a country that doesn’t tax lotto earnings regardless of taking the lump sum or not… that’s absolutely ridiculous !
You shouldn’t pay taxes on winnings unless you earn interest off of the money. That money is earned and can be taxed but taxing price money makes no sense to me 😅

Yes my friend, when I decided I wanted to win the lottery God asked me "are you sure?" And he has taken me on a very wild spiritual journey. I know we are all capable of winning it but we have to go through this journey and believe in it wholeheartedly.

I was pulled to the Universe and the Everything (it's all kind of voices in space at the same time) and asked me what do I want to be. When I answered I felt I was painlessly pulled apart to my atoms, mixed and put back together a different way.

Absolutely. There’s a friend of mine at my job who told me how he had a friend with cancer and he couldn’t get the better treatment option because the medication would’ve cost $30,000 a month. Now depending on what this lottery winner has and how far along it is if he lives until he’s 80 (the guy is 46 now) and somehow he has to be on such a medication for the rest of his life then that would be $12,240,000 for the total cost over 34 years which for him actually wouldn’t be that bad for extending his life, it would hardly make a dent relative to what he won.

Manuel Franco won 768 Million dollars and took home 326 Million dollars after taxes, now for 1.3 Billion, why it is only 422 Million dollars after taxes ????? I don't get it.....
Since the announced winning price 1.3B is almost twice to that of 768 Million dollars, shouldn't the take way home should also be twice here ???? Atleast nearer to the twice ????? For a price of 1.3B, the winner should take home atleast 550 million dollars after all the taxes
You have to factor in *current* inflation and current interest rates for lottery payouts, not just taxes for USA lotteries.
The Powerball jackpot (like a lot of large lotto jackpots) are advertised at the 30-year annuity rate. You only get the advertised amount if you agree to receive payments spread out of 30 years. If you choose a lump sum option instead, you are paid out at a much lower rate due to the time value concept of money. Then account for taxes. The highest US marginal tax rate is 37%.
Uncle Sam is the winner when someone win the big jackpot. The poor guy didn't even get half of the advertised jackpot on the billboard. The US government system is corrupted, its tax on the poor. Uncle is a greedy shark.
THE WINNER ONLY GETS THE TITLE, NOT THE FULL AMOUNT THE LOTTERY PROMISED ON THE BILLBOARD. WHAT A SCAM. AND THEY SAID THEY WANT TO MAINTAIN INTEREGRITY TO THE GAME FOR EVERYONE. THE IRONY.
