@@LGR I paused the video at 12:55 to come down to the comments to write almost the exact same thing. This IS my favorite LGR video of all time and I've literally seen all of them.
I enjoyed this. You should do something like this more often. The Computer Chronicles guys are comforting but your reaction to this show is even more comforting!
As a child of the 80’s the Computer Chronicles theme will always be stuck in my head. It was so awesome to rewatch the topics they covered in the 80’s and 90’s.
Clint. I've been watching for over 10 years now. I hope you understand how important to me it is that you did this regardless of your current circumstances. I don't say this lightly, thank you. It means a lot to me. LGR Christmas is a major tradition in my household.
@LGR it actually was. I hate "reaction" content usually because it's just braindead non creative types poorly pirating other people's works and profiting from them. But this is completely ethical - this show has not been shown for decades and your insight was absolutely wonderful. I genuinely would love to see you cover more episodes.
This was awesome. I wish we still had TV shows like this or something similar to Attack of the Show. I know we have RUclips but having something curated like this just hits different. Thanks LGR!
I love how Cheifet referred to Steve Wozniak as "The Woz" instead of simply "Woz". Makes the man feel like the legendary figure that he, admittedly, is.
So cool to see that there are others that enjoy watching old school Computer Chronicles. Over the years, I've watched every episode a few times, and it feels so.... cozy. Like hanging out with old friends.
I have downloaded the whole Computer Chronicles series, love to watch it and go through much earlier days. I always feel sad when I see Gary Kildall and think what we missed out on, what he might have brought us....
We had (old) Apple IIs in my Jewish elementary school and we had a bunch of Dafka games. I remember spending a bunch of time playing Torah baseball where you'd answer trivia about the Torah (Old Testament) and depending on the difficulty, a correct answer would merit a single, double, triple, or home run. I used to enjoy the animation you'd get of a hit and a player running the bases.
We had two of the Petsters, the robot cat things, in our house when I was a kid. They never worked right, never responded to sound or commands. They just drove around randomly and meowed. Entertaining for about 5 minutes sums it up, yes. But as kids we thought they were so cool.
@@Gino12164 That was my exact thought. 'They don't do anything except randomly lunge in a random direction, and their obedience is laughably questionable at best. Perfect cat replicas!'
These "reaction videos" to The Computer Chronicles are great! Hope you do some more in the future. I've also watched a lot of this series and you always find software or hardware you've never seen before. Thanks for the video Clint, and Merry Christmas! CHRISTMAS!!!
Stewart Cheifet - the technie combover king! Loved this and then The Screen Savers with Laporte, Norton, et al... Really amazing time to be alive to see the explosive growth in tech and how new it all was.
24:14 Steve Wozniak, after purchasing 5 mill in Apple shares in December of 85, would have around 3.5 mill shares and if he still had that today it would be worth around 875 million dollars
Hopefully 2025 will be a year with less hardships for you. Thank you for still giving us a Christmas LGR video this year. Happy holidays to you and your family Clint!
It didn't feel like Christmas to me until I saw the good ol Christmas Clone. Glad to see he survived the hurricane. I guess you can't break Christmas spirit!
Computer Chronicles was my go to in high school for keeping up with what was happening in the world of home computing and software. In those pre-Internet days, I cannot stress how important this was to see modern technology develop.
Some people watch others play games on twitch, others watch degenerate IRL streamers, i watch LGR watching one of my favorite nerdy show as a kid. We are not the same.
I really liked this. It was cool to listen about some stuff that was around basically my first Christmas. I remember not really having a family PC until the early 1990s. My dad had his PC for work, but that one was strictly off-limits. For most of my childhood, the family PC would be whatever computers my dad’s employer was in the process of getting rid of. Basically, every time his employer upgraded the computers and swapped out hardware, which happened a lot in the 1990s and early 2000s, he had the option to buy the old hardware at a discount and take it home. It’s fascinating seeing what computers were like the year I was born.
This year has been quite difficult for me due to ongoing health issues. You've certainly faced your own share of hard times this year, and yet the spirit of Christmas brings us all together once again. Thank you for everything you do, and Merry Christmas.
Always love these Clint and nothing better than going through old tech mags to see all the old missed opportunities and weirdness that still is out there somewhere. I hope everything returns to normal in the new year for you also check out UK show micro lite and maybe record the software they gave away at the end of the show instead of credits music
I used to watch this show every week in the early 90s as a young teen. Outside of Beyond 2000, it was the only real computer/tech show on.

Damn!!! I love that "LGR react to The Computer Chronicles"!!!! This series need to be a thing in the near future!!! There's a lot of episodes to react to!! Nice to see you back, LGR!
This is so fascinating to see as someone who completely missed this era of computers. It must've been such a niche show considering the price of the stuff on here. Even if inflation wasn't counted, those prices are _steep_ , I can't imagine how expensive it must've been to be an enthusiast back then
Merry Christmas Clint. As a long time viewer i wish you the best. Thank you for all the awesome content (A lot of nostalgia) and for being a very likeable person. Greetings from an old Dane.
Wasn't familiar with The Computer Chronicles, really happy you covered this as it'll give me something new / exciting to watch over the holidays - thanks a bunch
If you've never made homemade Eggnog I would *highly* recommend it. I took over the annual making of the family eggnog from the Czech side of my family tree. The recipe is 100+ years old at this point - point being once you try it with fresh ground nutmeg you'll never touch that store-bought slop again!
Never had eggnog. It kinda sounds like a dessert just looking at the ingredients, bit easier to enjoy than single malt whisky. Glad we got a Christmas watchalong.
Oddly enough I wouldn’t mind more videos just like this one. Thank you for replacing that warm fuzzy feeling I was missing on this incredibly cold morning.
Absolutely loved this show. I still have copies of it "somewhere" I recorded on my VCR. Stewart Cheifet is still with us!!!! Also remember "The Screen Savers" with Leo Laporte and the lil dancing pixie Kate Botello! Gary Kildall!! Imagine living with the thought it should have been "Digital Research" instead of "Microsoft" leading the world into personal computers!
I find Clint's trenchant commentary a lot more entertaining than the show itself, something of a MST3K vibe, or MCT3K if you will (Mystery Clint Theatre 3K, Mystery Computing Theatre 3K, either/or) 🎅🏻
I wasn't sure you were going to do one of these this year due to your circumstances. And nobody in their right mind would blame you if you didn't! Thanks for this gift to us!! Have a wonderful Merry Christmas!!
