As I mentioned at the end of the video, I've been considering (especially for the module highlights) livestreaming me messing around with them on Twitch or RUclips as I figure out how they work and write up the video script. Would anyone be interested? We can chat Foundry, DnD, modules, etc. If you would be interested, which platform would you prefer?
Not sure your timezone, but I would totally be down for this. I am playing WFRP exclusively, but all your content has been helpful and informative. I am Pacific time, btw.
I really hope you get way more traffic now that foundry is officially out. Great content. A good ol' Twitch stream would be nice to just see you at work and chat about how to make use of this awesome system. Thanks for the hard work!
That's very kind of you to say! I'm going to try and work out tonight when a good time would be to stream and hopefully I can do it this week! Thank you for watching :D.
About Time is mainly giving other modules something to hook into. The Calendar/Weather module for example, which will keep a constantly changing time/date.
This entire playlist was really a lot of fun ! Thank you so much for all of these! Easily earned a new sub during this - looking forward to all your new stuff!
Really appreciate this tutorial series, thank you! I just wanted to mention that if, like me, you tried to follow along with the tutorial using Token Marker, it doesn't seem to work very well with the current version of Foundry, as the marker showing which token/actor has initiative, will not move with that token/actor, like it does in this recording. I know you explained in the video but, as I tried to follow it and got stuck, thought it was worth me just commenting this in case it helps anyone else.
I just wanted to add my voice to those saying how useful your videos are! I immediatly jump in FVTT when I first saw it (after looking at MapTools, Roll20 and FantasyGrounds) and I've been learning so much from your videos. Thanks for putting all the time and effort into this 👍
Thank you so much for your kind words :D. It means a lot and I'm super happy that people are getting use out of them. I made almost the exact same trip that you did to Foundry :).
I totally binged on your videos, they are super! Keep up the good work. You basically sold me on this VTT; I was looking for one and this seems to scratch all of my itches. My only problem is that I'm kinda tech-awkward and the whole server/self-hosting thing is a bit worrisome. Could you maybe make a short video where you tackle this point (if there is enough interest, that is). Like how do you actually set up and run a session with other players? (Apologies if it's already in one of the published videos, I may have missed it. I think you mentioned it briefly in the first video but then I didn't find anything on it anymore). Again, great great work. It's so hard to find someone who is good at explaining things and able to keep a good pace so that people don't get bored after 5 mins.
For self hosting you just need to launch the game world. You can join through the program directly or you can use a browser and type "localhost:30000" (without the " marks) in the address bar. The others (usually players although there is no reason one can't be the GM) connect via browser. They type your public IP:30000 (just google "What's my IP" and then just like the first example except replace the "localhost" with your public IP. For Server Hosting....I have no idea really.
I've watched this entire series and it's been awesome! Such great tutorials! Thank you so much. 1 problem I haven't figured out yet is how to run multi-level dungeons? People go down a stairways and tokens should be on that spot? Do you handle it with many scenes?
I'm glad you've liked it! So multi-level dungeons can be a bit tricky. There's a few ways that you can handle them: 1. Multiple floors in one scene. You could place the floors next to each other and just move your players around between the different parts of the scene depending on what floor they're on. 2. Different scenes. When they hit a staircase you could jump to the other scene and in the bottom left go to the 'Players' menu, right click on the player and select 'Pull to Scene'. One additional thing that you could do that might make that easier is to use the Multi-Level Tokens module which will let you set up areas so that when your players enter them they will be teleported to another area. So if they step onto the stairs you can move them to another part in the same scene or another scene entirely that will be the floor they were traveling to. I hope that helps, if you've got more questions please feel free to let me know!
I have been working on these! I have a playlist where I've been adding all my module guides that you can find here: ruclips.net/p/PLGgCMB0gYnLFb1stKZJ8yuhd5N03tFhZU Hopefully that helps, I've covered 16 modules so far!
Thanks for pointing out where to get modules, I wander why the ShareData module is not listed in any of the list, and I think sharing data across worlds is must if you are using some modules to import data from other VTT's
This video was mainly made as a reference to use in future videos about how to find, install, and update modules. I have released a few videos on specific modules that I find useful like Beyond20, VTTA's DnDBeyond Integration, Dice Tray, and Dice So Nice. I have one uploading tonight on VTTA's Tokenizer module and a script written covering another two modules. These videos take a lot of time to make but I am working on getting them out as quickly as possible while still making videos covering core questions about Foundry functionality. Hopefully I can have a repository of videos before too long though!
There's not an available system package for GURPS but I believe a user in the Foundry Discord was working on it. If you're interested you can also take a look at the Foundry community wiki where there's an excellent guide on building a system and you could build it out yourself (or in conjunction with others in the Discord). Sorry I don't have a better answer for you!
@@EncounterLibrary thanks for you answer! Im going to have a look on the discord group abou it. Im no good when it comes to system building or programming but foundry still seems a good option for what i want on a VTT
You never explained how to go to the place where we see the "Add-on Modules".... you like...teleported there without explaining absolutely anything in minute 5:10

Yes of course, as for platform I really don't mind which one
Not sure your timezone, but I would totally be down for this. I am playing WFRP exclusively, but all your content has been helpful and informative. I am Pacific time, btw.
my timezone is very different to Americas but i will watch ur stream ( twitch)
Yes for sure, platform doesnt matter, just make it accessible.

This series took me from zero to functional in an hour. Well done, sir!
English isnt my native language but your videos with subtitles are gold man, ive learned a lot from you to use the program, thank you!!

I find “About Time” to be intriguing and utterly perplexing. Thanks for another great video!
About Time is mainly giving other modules something to hook into. The Calendar/Weather module for example, which will keep a constantly changing time/date.
This series has been amazing. Thank you for the efforts made and for your consistent and detailed narration, really appreciate it. Have a great day.

Really helpful, I'm enjoying greatly all the content you've been publishing. Thanks a bunch.
i would for sure watch a livestreamed prep sesj

Another super useful video :)
As you suggested i think you could launch a serie with your highlighted modules, or must have modules. I would be very interested if you do so

Because ShareData is a Method, not a Module. It uses functionality already in the base FVTT software. Modules usually extend what the FVTT can do.
bless you
next video should be on how to use foundry on the forge or other payed servers to host the games
Hey, the link to the Foundry-vtt-community wiki doesn;t work, would you please update it.
COmmunity modules site doesn't work anymore
Five months later and it is still down. I'm guessing it won't be back. ☹
Turn Marker Does Not Work because it needs updating now D:
The real problem with this video is that n00bs like me REALLY NEED the exact guidance on *useful* modules that you did not provide.
This video was mainly made as a reference to use in future videos about how to find, install, and update modules. @@EncounterLibrary Sounds like your "on it". Thanks. The D&DB integration looks really nice.
Trigger Happy is a module I would love to use, but doesn't want to cooperate with my brain.
sadly its not up to date anymore
I care.

GURPS 4th Ed. is now available in the Foundry Game Systems list.
