@@baconqueen2734 Thanks for the feedback! In my head I'm already planning it but it's going to require a lot of pickaxes, so I'm going to need more metal before I can start.
Looks like a great summer home! Not sure about living there full time due to the temperature change because of elevation. But if you DO decide to make it full time, you know you could get some good winds for windmill powered structures. Is it possible the update to v1.19.4 reset the bee area and you needed to reload the chunks or pick up/put down the skep to start the timer again?
@@Sarafimm2 I really like winter and cold snowy places haha I am intrigued by the idea to build on the side of the mountain and the lower temperature should also help keeping the food fresh for a longer time. I checked again on the bees and now it says 9 days. Not 100% sure if due to the repositioning of the skep as you say. But at least now it works :)
I didn't consider the amount of flowers. Beside that, the problem is that it was saying 10 days also some days before, like if the timer wasn't working.
Gosh they have made the leather making much harder, I thought it was such aprocess already. Nice ruin find in the cave. I have no idea whats going on with the bees!🤔 The view from that mountain top is really gorgeous, I certainly would go for it! 😁
The deterioration of raw hides has made their processing necessary since they cannot be preserved for long. I added the Oils mod because otherwise I would have to use all the fat just to not throw away the skins. I went back to check the bees the day after and it showed 9 days. Not sure what happened there. The view from that mountain is really nice and I think I'll build something there, but I need more materials and a larger amount of metal because I want to build inside the mountain and it's going to require several pickaxes 😀
You might have wanted to check the recipes for the High fertility soil 😉, the mesa will be a pain to get up and down but that view will be amazing to see, you will also need a lot more flowers arund the wild hive to make it swarm quicker.
I haven't check the recipe for the high fertility soil yet but I will! The view from the Mesa is great and I haven't shown everything yet 😉 You're right about the amount of flowers, but the problem is that the timer was stuck on 10 days since days and it looked like the would never swarm. Now I checked again and it says 9 days.
@@Necromundi70 oh yeah I've seen that. A bit expensive imo and that position it in a later stage of the game. Probably more for the compost because it takes time and you need a decent amount of rot. The charcoal finds better uses in the early game.
It's a very intriguing plateau and I'm already planning some buildings in my head. I checked again on the bees and it looks like now the timer is progressing. Not sure if the wild beehive needed a long time to detect the flowers or if me repositioning the skep trigger the timer. A mystery.
Thanks buddy! 😀 Not sure about the chunk. I often found wild beehives far away, set up a skep and found it populated after the usual 10 days. I checked again and it says 9 days do it should work now.
ciao kuraiden!
the only time I ever seen someone start a hive I believe they had the skep directly below the hive, not sure if thats how it needs to be, but he also had flowers on every block in a grid around it
The skep must be placed within 7 blocks horizontally and 5 blocks vertically of the wild beehive and the number of flowers in the range influences the rate at which the swarm will swarm according to the Wiki page wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php/Beekeeping#Finding_Wild_Bees I didn't start from a wild beehive myself since a long time and I thought that 6 flowers would be enough, but it looks like it needs at least 7 flowers in the range to swarm in 10 days 😀
What do you think about the mountain terrace with the goats? 🤔
Yes you should make your base up there with a cute path to get up and down

Maybe put the crop farm near lake level so your crops don't suffer from the cold as much as they would up on the plateau.

I believe you will find that the amount of flowers around the bees will affect how soon they swarm.

@@TheOddApe perhaps I sgould have said what High fertility soil is used for, as it is an ingredient for Terra Preta now

:D Lupines sure do take me back...
... to Lupin Ridge? 😆
@@TheOddApe You got it! ;)
it's an awesome place to build a base!! do it
Nice! 😀
Would the bees be affected with a chunk loading, as in if the chunk is not loaded the bees won't move to the skep. Nice location you have picked
