I agree, war and empire building is different to the petty non life threatening crap we deal with in a workplace. You deal with disrespect in that moment and if you need to pull that person apart in front of others you must do it with some interest on top. Otherwise they own you and you know it. Never fear confrontation it's the best way to test the courage of your own convictions. If you are not prepared to do this, enjoy living for someone else's convictions. Fuck that.

I used to take it personally when someone was disrespectful to me out of nowhere. I didn't understand why I was being attacked totally unprovoked.
I was often stunned silent. Not addressing disrespectful behavior isn't ok.
Now I understand there are people who simply enjoy pushing people around.
It's important to discern their intent in that moment of contemplation before responding.
If someone is being a bully it's important to immediately, strongly let them know you wont tolerate disrespect. Calmly, assertively putting them in their place.
Developing the ability to respond effectively in difficult situations is a very important skill.

All good in theory, but not always practical.
As my extended family lives scattered over a large country, meeting ùp for reunions takes a lot of organising.
Now, imagine this: it'd been a few years since I'd seen a certain cousin, and I greeted her joyfully. Her venomous reply was so shocking that I stopped dead in my tracks.
All through that event, held in a large restaurant, she was turning on the charm to everyone except me. Very puzzling. When it came to say our farewells, I complimented her on how well she looked, and she bit my head off.
Now, given the circumstances, I'm sure you can imagine how impossible it'd be to start a confrontation in such a public place.
Next reunion, 2 years later, was at an aunt's place, and this particular cousin was even more horribly rude. Now, when I'm a guest in someone's home, I cannot start an argument or accusation. I cannot and will not. I was shocked at the hate and contempt my cousin displayed, but only to me, but I kept my dignity and behaved as though nothing were amiss.
I said no goodbyes to her, but resolved NEVER, ever to speak to her again. That's 12 years ago. She still rings up, expecting me to grovel all over her. I just hang up.
Best decision, as far as I'm concerned. No use trying to reason with someone so arrogant and insensitive. Besides, her behaviour was so extreme, so loud and uncalled-for, it'd just give her an excuse to further abuse and humiliate me. Ain't gonna happen

My sister, told me today that God told her all my crops will dry out. She said I need to learn to talk to God before I make decisions. She told me this is what God told her to tell me. & I just quit my job to start a business, & it was discouraging to hear her say that to me. Mind you I just lend my sister money the other day, I take her son to school and her to work every morning because she doesn’t drive. She even told me to lower my standards. She doesn’t drive, she’s living paycheck to paycheck, and her boyfriend is living with her rent-free. She spent her Mother’s Day at work, and I came over this morning to drive my nephew to school and to drop off a Mother’s Day gift, and fell into a discouraging conversation with her. Ima pray about this but it’s difficult knowing she said that.

My view has always been…”As if your opinion of me matters…I like me just fine” I started doing this when I was a kid with my bullies…I would laugh at them when they flew insults at me for what ever reason that their simple minds were choosing to be disgusting human beings on any given day. I had so much disapproval of their actions and enough confidence in myself to realize that they had the problem, not me, because “I liked me just fine.” I always knew that they were in the wrong. I would even seek them out and ask them if they had any other dumb things to say today and mock them for their ignorant stupidity.
Yes..I got the crap kicked out me from time to time, but, most of the time when they saw that they couldn’t bother me and that I thought less of them than they thought of me…it wasn’t fun for them anymore, so these weak minded people would usually give up…and..I would still like me just fine. Be well.

They were losers in my view, so I didn’t think that I should have to put up with losers. It took me a few beatings by my bullies to get angry enough to tell them what I thought of them in front of the other people. I just learned how to make them look stupid, which wasn’t hard, and make the bystanders laugh at them and and agree with me.

Over the years, I have had to learn manythings, as I been wathing some of these different videos, it seems that I have been learning the stoic principals witout knowing it , as well as growth in mauy forms from within my soul and the subconsciuos. Real reflections of ones self, taking full responsiblities really do makes a difference in ones life.

It's hard sometimes, I can't shake that I feel worthless a lot. Perhaps I'm just too hard on myself? I've created a lot of problems for myself, it's affecting myself and those I exist with. It's going to be a long road. Don't mind me just journaling. 👀

Hang in there - you’re not alone in those feelings and action. Others have been their own worst enemy and receive disrespect as a result also, it takes time and concentration to fix, but by recognising your circumstances you have accomplished step one. So just keep going. I wish you strength along the way 👊

Disrespect shown by a child towards a mother, takes a lot of my energy before I give up till my my cup runneth over, then finally I say, I’m done n let go away from her n move on like an affair that wasn’t meant to be.

Some of this I find hard to swallow (maybe pointing to my insecurities). This type of contemplation is not valued in the modern world. If we take the example of a work colleague belittling you. It doesn't infer that person isn't more secure than you, just that they have learned the skill of using others as stepping stones. They don't necessarily promote themselves, just demote all those around them by undermining them. These people have developed this skill. In a meeting nobody cares if you go and reflect. You'll have one chance to respond but the expectation is you demoralise the attacker. If you don't your going to be viewed as weak. If you allow the attacker the floor when your talking or presenting, your done, your owned, pack up your kit and go home. This is the Corporate Ladder, kiss the ass above you, step on the head below you. Show empathy for those below you and you have hit the bottom rung by your own design. This is why I quit Corporate life, it's nothing but shit and I'm too empathetic, so I prefer to help others now, it's much more rewarding and I've never felt more wanted, loved and needed I'm my life. Love to you all.❤
