Great haul ! 😊 Aldi is usually dependable for staying within budget. As far as jarred tomato sauce is concerned, I’m old school Italian 😂 and for $2 for a can of crushed tomatoes, you can make your own and eliminate the high sodium, starches, and added preservatives in jarred sauce. So much fresher and clean tasting with crushed tomatoes, olive oil and garlic. Simple and fresh. Little basil and you are in sauce heaven ❤
I agree! It’s definitely worth it to make it with a can of crushed tomatoes instead of buying it pre-made in the jar 😄 I’ll have to make it like you said next time! It sounds delicious
The avocado chunks are actually pretty good.. plus they won’t spoil as fast as fresh. I bought two fresh ones and an organic coconut at a local grocery store and all three items were rotten.
Your Aldi only had the green lentils also. That’s all mine carries and I much prefer just good old brown lentils in my lentil dishes or red lentils in my Indian dishes like curry or Dahl. But, that is just me. Interested to see how you like them.
I’ve used them quite a few times and I like them but I haven’t tried brown lentils yet! I’ll have to pick some up at my local grocery store and try them to compare
@@LauraLegge to be honest, green lentils probably have more flavor. I always think green lentils have more of a peppery flavor. Brown lentils have more of a umami flavor, which I think tastes more “beefy”. But that is just me. And they usually are a little cheaper for me. I typically use lentils and am not really looking for that peppery taste. Again, I think that’s just personal preference. But, that is my thoughts….green lentils more peppery and brown lentils kind of bland and easily picks up the taste of what I’m eating it with.
@veggielovinaccountant I love Indian food so much especially curries. I wish I knew how to make my own to be as tasty as a couple of restaurants where I live.
I’ve used lentils in quite a few recipes and I don’t really have a favorite yet 🤔 I’m making a meatless meatloaf tonight with lentils so I’m excited to see how it turns out!
Great haul …. The Veggie Kale burgers are soooo good ! I love them ! I eat some meat and vegetarian at times ! And I agree that the Raos isn’t worth the price and it’s not organic ! Have a blessed week
@@LauraLegge same as any avocado. I usually don’t thaw them fully even for garnish unless it is going on something cold like toast. And I thaw them about halfway if I am making guacamole since it helps them mash without immediately becoming mush and allowing them to keep texture when you add your tomatoes and spices.
My son will not eat jarred sauce! He says nothing compares to homemade. So I make up a batch and freeze it in containers that match what I use it for. When avocados get to the point of ripping you want, place them in your vegetable drawer until ready to use. Plus, if you place any type of fruit( especially bananas) near avocados they release a gas that causes the ripening process up. Good if you have hard green avocados that need this, bad if you don’t. I will not buy milk that has a small exp distance. That or if nothing else and I have to have it for cooking, I will put some into a jar, and I will freeze the rest, until needed again. I was very impressed with the prices. We are just now getting an Aldi, and I can hardly wait.
I personally was not a fan of the veggie burgers. The texture seemed off to me and seemed light on seasonings. I even tried to doctor them up by adding seasonings to the outside and crisping in a pan. Still didn’t like them. I prefer to batch prep my own bean burger type items. They freeze wonderfully and then of course I can flavor how I want also.
Rao’s is not worth the price. It’s good but not great. I would rather make my own or buy another jarred version and doctor it up. That’s just my opinion and I know lots of people like Rao’s but I can’t justify the cost.
That’s what I was wondering! I have lots of tomatoes in my freezer waiting for me to get around to making sauce so I definitely can’t justify the high price of Rao’s right now 😅

I use the frozen avocado chunks in smoothies. They make smoothies super creamy and delicious. I find otherwise, I don’t care for them.
I agree with this! Great for smoothies but too water logged to try to eat regular or on toast or something
That’s good to know! Thank you so much! I’ll have to pick some up and try them in smoothies
Me too, paired with pineapple. I bet they would work in cowboy caviar and as avocado toast, too!

Oh no!
Hi Laura🙋🏼♀️ I’m happy to see your video here today. About the milk- my daughter doesn’t do well with dairy and she loves creamy variety oat milk.
Thank you! I can’t wait to try the oat milk!

Does the organic ketchup have HFCS?
No, just cane sugar 😃
Do you have a favorite recipe for lentils and are youor have you shared it?

@@LauraLegge you’re welcome… you will have to let us all know how you like them …. I also like their vegan meatballs … the regular ones … :)
@@robinlove6792 oooh! I’ll have to look for those! Thank you so much ☺️
@@LauraLegge you’re welcome! They are usually in the freezer section in bags … the brand is vegan earth as well ….

I use the frozen avocados pretty regularly since they go bad so quickly for me
I love the idea of them! I’ll have to try them. How do you use them?

Ok! I’m working on it now and it should be ready soon ☺️

You didn't go too bad over budget
True! I didn’t have any of the non-dairy milk, croutons, or blackberries on my list so it wasn’t bad considering all the extras I got 😄
@@LauraLegge 😊
Almond milk is good.
We tried it this morning and my kids love it!
