Don Mancini did a blood Buddy og story about a doll being controlled by the boy's rage but with his blood, not a A.I., so really his idea is very 80's campy like.
His OG title for the movie was Batteries not included, but there was such a movie of the same title starred Jessica Tandy.
Don Mancini is getting a lot of royalties from the remake including Tom Holland who contributed to the 50% writing of the script by including Voodoo, Serial Killers and Brad Dourif to create what the franchise is famous for. So I don't feel that sorry for Don.
Don Mancini and Tom Holland got royalties from the remake so don't feel sorry for them. Don, Jennifer, Christine bitch and whine on twitter since July 2018 just to stir commotion. It's all for show.

I actually made it in 2008 when I was really big on making DVD covers and posters not knowing there was going to be a remake. I posted it originally on ohmb (Official Halloween Message Board (RIP)) in a Child's Play thread, and it spread like wildfire throughout fan sites. The box was a real box i took a picture of for a 12" Chucky figurine. I still have it somewhere.

I remember my first Chucks movie I was 6 at my cousin’s house and it was on one of those old giant TV’s from the 90’s and it made me both intrigued and scared and it gave me night terrors

I wish we'd get a sequel announcement for Child's Play 2019. Unfortunately I don't see that happening because of issues with rights and box office performance.

@@Aqwtiny It also had some of the funniest and clever social media marketing - posters showing the doll killing the Toy story characters. Brilliant. those posters are actually what made me see the movie because I HATE DOLLS.
The remake honestly sounded great on paper, if they could I would love to see this version made. I really like the concept of the doll turning more human and exploring into it.
I would like to see a graphic novel version of this reboot, just to see what it would’ve looked like, to see exactly what Don Mancini had in mind.
I remember when this remake was being talked about- I was so hoping it would happen. I definitely would have preferred this over the 2019 version although I didn’t dislike the 2019 movie.

My best bud and I talked at length about the original remake idea when it was first announced. Disappointed when it fell through but given how dismal the Nightmare on Elm Street remake was, it was understandable that they backed out of the idea. I will say that as far as the franchise goes, Curse of Chucky was freakin' awesome. Curse was beautiful. It brought back the horror element that was missing from the later sequels. Fiona was outstanding, her Dad always amazing and everyone else involved was top notch.
Man I remember as a kid when I first heard about the 2010 remake happening I was so excited. I first heard the news from a old RUclipsr called Protopod and he’d always update on it. But then as 2010 came along we found out that the movie kept getting pushed back and back and back...to were it was cancelled and then the curse of chucky trailer came out and I was so confused but then did my research as a kid and found out what happened. Yeah I was sad to know it was canceled but happy to see them continue the story ☺️

Curse of Chucky was one of the best in the franchise, so I'm glad they went in that direction instead.
And I also really enjoyed the 2019 remake. It is it's own thing, and I appreciate that. It almost feels like a Black Mirror episode. Ultimately the judge of a remake is this: If this was the original, would we be remaking it today? Yes. If this had been the original that came out I could see it getting a cult status and franchise lasting to this day.

As interesting as this idea sounds, I’m glad it didn’t happen. Because we would’ve never got curse. And I think most of us can agree that curse was an excellent comeback to chucky after seed. When I was young, they actually called my mother for time to audition as the kid in this movie, I was 4 years old. My mom didn’t accept because I was scared of chucky at the time, I know this sounds fake but I swear it’s real

I'll admit I wasnt a fan of the new childs play remake, because I read how "modernized" it was. Then actually watching it, surprisingly it was funny, gory and not a bad movie overall

I remember the 2010 remake!!! I think they had made a small teaser of kids saying Happy Birthday Andy and that's all the possible 2010 remake got before the project went to scraps.

The twist of the doll turning human and losing the technological powers would've been very anti climactic. I love Don Mancini and what he did with Curse and some of Cult. He did the Charles Lee Ray thing in Curse and it was better than what chuckyboy explained from the planned remake. I'm not crazy about the 2019 one either.
The original will 4 ever be a legendary classic but the new one definitely exceeded my expectations I actually liked the new 1 & would recommend every watch it

Because on the business side, it wasn't a good idea to go for a remake at that time.
the project was planned to release in 2010 it was delayed a few times was then moved to 2011 before the nightmare on elm st movie came and ruined it
While the original idea of Chucky merely being a manifestation of Andy's inner rage is super interesting, I'm glad we wound up with the voodoo possessed version we now know and love. I _need_ Brad Douriff as my Chucky, and him doing the voice and playing the human version of Chucky makes the film, imo. Certain horror icons, you simply can't change the actor - Some other examples are Freddy, Pinhead and Leprechaun (ugh, the most recent Pinhead and Leprechaun versions are absolute heresy!)
Not going to lie the jumpscare at the end on the 2019 remake scared me

I really liked Bride Of Chucky. I don't know why, but I really liked it, it was just so weird, I loved Tiffany, and the story was ok I guess. The worst part of the movie was that sex scene but besides that I liked it.

I remember this when I was 10 and no one believed me, I didn't spend too much time on the internet but I heard about it and I guess I never found out it was cancelled as a sequel since I didn't know back then where to get a reputable source and also I wasn't very fluent in english. I just remmeber some years later starting reading about Curse of Chucky and seeing in the news they starting shooting. Even now some of the times I discuss the reboot and I mention Don's plans back in 2010, some eyebrows get raised, because they didn't believe there were those plans to reboot Chucky 10 years ago.

I actually prefer the original idea where Chucky is a manifestation of Andy's rage! Can you imagine the lore behind that one. How Andy himself and a detective could team up to find why bodies are falling everywhere come to find out it's andy. Or Andy's doll based on his rage. Soemthing like that is just so out there and terrifying to try to understand! It just might have worked!

When I was a kid a wanted to fight this doll so bad. I couldn't understand how people were running from a doll.
The 2019 remake makes me want to be dead.
I personally loved seed of chucky because of the simple fact that it showed chucky's witty and comical sides of his personality and i love that because it makes me feel like I really know the character all the way through and I thought it was cool now if they where going for scary then they would have done things differently and went for a different approach and maybe one day they will idk🤔 would be cool to see both sides i think u get a funny side and a scary side to the story

Chucky has been around for a long time, and when thinking of the greatest horror movie villain Chucky comes to mind. Right behind letherface, Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers, and Freddy Kruger.

Thank god they didn't remake it,and instead created sequels and a TV show. Other franchises can learn from Childs Play, it's better to continue with sequels using the OG cast and bringing in new characters then remaking a sub poar version of the original. I wish more franchises would follow Don Mancini's lead.
