Serious Sam TFE: 15 - The Great Pyramid (Serious 100%, Deathless)

- Another level I couldn't be bothered going for all kills since it requires trapping the boss and shooting wearbulls for hours which isn't fun to play or for you to watch, trust me. I also decided to use the real BFG of the game, the Serious Bomb, just for fun and also because it's the last level and they're all taken away from you at the start of TSE, which I may cover in the future :)
As for the level, it's bitter sweet. TFE is definitely my favorite game in the entire Serious Sam franchise and I've beat it countless times, but this is the first time I've ever recorded myself beating it so in a way it brought about a sense of finality and I couldn't help but shed a few tears. Honestly I skip the cutscenes every time I replay one of these levels but actually forcing myself not to skip them for the recordings really made me appreciate the simplistic beauty of TFE's story. When watching the final cutscene I was so pumped to go face Mental on his home turf and finish him off once and for all only to realize a new Serious Sam game did come out and that I beat it already and that I'm still no closer to beating Mental now than I was years ago when I first beat TFE. Not that SS4's a bad game but it definitely lacks the personality older Sam titles had. There's no mystery or wow moments, the closest it got was launching the nuke into the Tunguska portal and watching as flaming carcasses and machinery bits were blown out of it and wondering what could be on the other side. TFE pulls it off so naturally and flawlessly, like the scene inside the pyramid where the stone floor suddenly changes to metal while an alien landing pad is revealed or the first time a Highlander shows up out of nowhere.
Enough ranting, you get the point. TFE is awesome and it will always hold a special place in my heart as one of the best FPS games ever created. Playing through the campaign again has been an absolute pleasure and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have. I really hope once COVID blows over Croteam is able to regularly update SS4 into something special and that their next Serious Sam title pushes forward into a full scale assault against Mental's homeworld. As cool as the prequels are I want the story to continue where SS2 left off and continue on from there. Thanks again for watching and stay Serious!
