    Outstanding video as usual, Ben. As for Dalmore, they seriously need to increase their abv (40%, especially for a 15 year old single malt at its price point is completely inexcusable).

      I've had the cigar malt, 18 and king Alexander III and they are all phenomenal, not sure I've had the portwood reserve. Balvenie has an amazing portwood 21 but bang for your buck to me is the dalmore cigar malt

    I am a complete newbie ( I've only ever visited one distillery. (Kingsbarns last week )) in the past two nights I've been in to more distilleries than I could have managed in quite a few years and learned more about whisky making than I could have reading about it. I've also seen your India visit. Fascinating. I noticed an oil rig in the background which got me thinking as I used to be a derrikman and looked after and ran the pump room cw drilling mud. I think I could switch industries and anyone working in a distillery vice versa. The head distiller would be equivalent to a mud engineer. However forgive me for rambling on and thankyou for your enthusiasm and knowledge.

    Beautiful, luciuous color. Glistening. Looks like magic! How do they do that? Bottle design? Lighting? Do they put shaved gold like goldshlager? WOW. Makes my Cigar Malt taste even better! Jk - We all know they use red dye #40 from bugs, unreal.

    Every time the videos have higher technical and aesthetic quality. Better narrative ability. As a suggestion, it would not be bad if you introduced at the beginning of the video an infographic in the style of Google Maps or Google Earth with a zoom to locate the distillery or place in question. Thanks for everything.

    17:20 - The REAL questions that Ben should have been asking that guy "The Distillery manager" is why on earth does Dalmore adds *so much* caramel E150A colouring in their whiskies, why do they dilute so much down to basic 40%, why do they still chill-filter, and why is Dalmore so ridiculously over-price. I would be grilling "The Manager" if I were Ben....

    • @Innovate22
      @Innovate22 11 месяцев назад

      Agreed. Most of these questions would be perfectly appropriate, especially since their sister W&M distillery (Fettercairn) have adopted integrity presentations.

      He can't ask that. The answer is dalmore is a designer whisky made for idiots.

    I'm not new to Single Malt Scotch, but definitely not an expert or connoisseur. Isn't there a perceived rivalry between The Dalmore and The Macallan distilleries/brands? I recall overhearing something about each brand sees themselves as the pinnacle of luxury and of all distilled spirits etc.

    • @paintspot1509
      @paintspot1509 9 месяцев назад +1

      The ironic thing is that neither of them produce a quality product. It's all 40% or heavily filtered or fake colouring.

    I always thought Dalmore was rubbish because of the 40%, coloring, pricing & over the top marketing.
    Then I was at a blind tasting and had a line up of 12yo’s.
    I scored the Dalmore the highest because it was way frutier and had no harsh notes as the others had.
    So I had to admit I was quite prejudice..🙄

    My problem with dalmore is the 40%, the chill filtration and the enormous amount of E150 they use…. of Course Ben didn’t talk about this and goes along with the bla bla…..Dalmore ❌
