The Coldstream Guards Drum Major leading the Massed Bands during the first few minutes of the video is D/M Stephen Ward ..... and he is without doubt the smartest and most precise Guards Drum Major we'll ever see ..... absolutely superb.

This is great to see. The BEAT played and performed in the old style that you really don't see anymore. Its been jazzed up a bit in recent years. I fully expect to see the Flying Grandpas or Top Secret on Horse Guards one day. That is if the show continues next year after the virus bit now. Some great music here. MULL OF KINTYRE was interesting to hear without pipes. Odd that it was played for the SGs in the Guards medley there. Then again PORTSMOUTH for the 3/1 Guards as Marines in Napoleonic Wars was another interesting tidbit. CROWN IMPERIAL is a bit ponderous but still a good finale piece in contrast to say 1812 OVERTURE. LOST POST with the Household Cavalry trumpets was moving and again something you don't hear much anymore. I liked NAMUR for the march-off. Who is the narrator for these older BBC ceremonials? He's very good and as informed as Ian Flemming was with the Ed Tattoo. Many thanks for posting this gem. If you have more please post.

Do you ever have anything good to say? Mull of Kentyre is a pretty obvious reason why they would choose to play it for the Scots Guards and it’s nice to hear something different then the usual marches like Ed castle.

Nice to hear German cavalry marches played by a British cavalry band!
In Germany we do not have that any more...

Does anyone know if the medley that starts at 15:19 (Something About a Soldier/When the Guards are on Parade/Changing Guard at Buckingham Palace/The Changing of the Guard/Soldiers of The Queen) has a name?

Gleysh I have had a look and nothing came up! I was only able to find parts of them like "Soldiers of the Queen" and "When the guards are on parade". But couldn't find a name for the whole medley sadly!

@@delvinrodriguez3341 Many thanks for looking; I had about the same level of success when I tried. It seems the same medley was used to march off from Trooping the Colour in 1988 - I think the commentator called it “Soldiers” but I had no luck with that either. Thanks again for looking.
