About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zeeland band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

THANK YOU
You have the hq video of "Have a lucky day" by Morphine, right? Hope you post it someday 💖
holy hell. Why have I not heard these men before? And that saxophone makes me want to just lay down and die. Jesus.
Land of the glass pine cones. Saw a double bill of HSR and MRPH. Blew the few remaining brain cells.
@@vh3472 he plays 2 saxes at the same time on occasion...it's phenomenal, mind blowing to witness. And the 2 string modified bass *much! Miss this band so much 😢
I think the comment section says it all!.. 11yrs ago to 7 days ago, and every year in between.. MORPHINE were/are timeless! Proper musicians!!💛
Morphine would and should be so damn respected and cool these days. Incredibly unique and tight band.
i really really loved them and confused why they didn't explode!
Morphine was so good, too bad he overused "something good". RIP Mark
no no no, these days we got multi-culturalized, so we have HIP HOP
@@dr.frankn.furter6390 died of a hart attack
They are mate
RIP the two members of Morphine
Mark Sandman (September 24, 1952 - July 3, 1999), aged 46
Billy Conway (December 18, 1956 - December 19, 2021), aged 65
You both will be remembered as legends.
No.. I only just discovered these absolutely mind blowing artists🥺
Sandman went away too fucking soon.
I met Mark back in 1998, didnt know Billy Conway had also passed. RIP
@@marcosdepaula3593you met mark?!
Bill Conway.. 'perpetual motion' kept time like a f#*kin Rolex! 🙏
2 string bass, sax, and drums. That's it and sounds awesome.
Really some of the heaviest shit I’ve heard
Anti guitar 80's bullshit. Rock comes in all forms . And this traditional three roll original, man.
couldn't agree more... but you might want to throw in some killer vocals as well
@@LarryGoldman Yes, killer vocals too!
Bass sex and drums
I had tickets to see Morphine in London on I believe 9 July 1999. Mark Sandman passed away on 3 July. RIP, you legend.
so what happened, did you still go?
@@godsinbox I mean, the gig was cancelled. 🤷♂️
that's a lot of sound coming from just three musicians...amazingly good...
The bass line, the sax, Mark Sandman's voice... this is one of the sexiest songs in the universe
This group was and will always be the glue to a portion of my soul. I have never in all my life been as moved and affected by any other artist/group's music. When years later I randomly come across a video like this, I am assured my way through life will be a bit sweeter for the listening- and my bored and cynical heart gets to skip beats again. rip sandman
What an inspiring beautiful and thought-proboking comment!
I feel similar, not the same.. but i feel like i understand what you mean.
All the best from the bottom of Africa
And RIP Sandman .... genius.
I played in a band that opened for Morphine three times, once at The Middle East in Boston, in front of their crowd. They were always great. I wish they had one album that sounds (& feels) like they did live. Their stage sound was a mile wide & the low end came off the stage & hung in the middle of the room. I wish these two creative musicians were still with us.
They had an UNIQUE sound!
Fantastic quality, thanks! Hard to believe it's 20 years old
can't believe it is 25 years now.......
Almost 27...
28 years...
29...მ..
30 years now and still every bit as good as it was back then!
Damn, these guys jammed! Simultaneously intense and serene, totally unique, and superb musicianship. What a great band!
RIP Billy Conway, drummer extraordinaire.
😭😭😭
He is a monster
Um dos melhores de todos os tempos.
Everything Morphine.
Wow. This clip looks like it was shot last week. Can't believe the clarity of sound and video. Fuck, I miss Mark.
23 years of Mark's passing. His music legacy remains strong.
Possibly the greatest band to ever exist. Never tire of hearing them...
So damn lucky I got to see them twice. Just, just no words...
Me too!
Such a tight, unique, groovy band.
yeah, I love this band so much....Sure wish Mark and Billy were both still alive....just an amazing group, unique, special.... I listen to them regularly....always will. xo
Absolutely stellar performance... 10/10
Fantastic. Loved these guys ever since 92. Rest in peace, Sandman.
Morphine/Sandman, from 25+ years ago, posted on RUclips 8+ years ago--and I'm hearing for the first time today, grateful, marveling, happy. Thank you, 2metersessions. If you meant to keep this genius's memory alive, if you meant to make new converts, it worked. And that sax! I don't even LIKE sax, but this master is so inventive! I kept looking at the video--surely there was somebody on a keyboard, no? Is there a lead guitar? No? Is all that joy coming from just those three guys?? I'm not qualified to comment--I should leave that to true musicians--but I can give you a layperson's opinion: they were playing TOGETHER. They weren't trying to outdo one another; they seemed to enjoy the one sound made by three players. That's what makes this music timeless--it's their musical fit, nice and dovetailed. I expected to be bored halfway through or to hear the perfunctory solo ("watch how many notes I can fit into one meter"), but, no, I heard three artists enjoying the sound they made together. I'm now on a hunt for all the Morphine/Sandman music I can find. Sad he's not around to make more.
I still cry inside over Mark, such a unique band. Great vid!!!
still one the absolutely coolest songs ever.
One of the funkiest drum performances I've ever seen. Damn.
Right??!!
Fat bass, fat sax, fat drums!! This is fucking undiet music
Man, they are tearin' it up! Amazing three piece band...and you can't beat Mark's songwriting!
One of my FAVORITES!!!
never too late to discover great music....
I love this band more than anything ever... What a trio...
This straightens out the wrinkles in my soul...
I’m so glad I saw them live in Eindhoven. That was a very nice performance.
One of my top 3 fav bands ever.
what a great track. Such a great band, sadly missed.
This put a smile on my face and balm on my heart ❤️ I've loved them since the beginning
That's a masterpiece
Legendary !!!! Still listening ! Big respect from Siberia, Russia.
Outstanding performance, real rock spirit in its purest form. Cheers Sandman... "...and by 9-9-99 I hope I'm sittin' on the back porch drinkin' red wine" (Morphine - French fries with pepper)
Wonderful - listening to Morphine still makes me sad for the loss of Mark Sandman, whenever I hear it. Cherish what he and the band did leave us!
I was so fortunate to see them live (as an opening act for Los Lobos)...
Súbele Raul !!!!!!!!!!!
Jua jUa jUa solo pocos entienden esa !!!!!!

Perfect.
Killer freekin' clip of Morphine live. I've seen many and this is way up there!
wow need more of this sesh!
Dana Colley is my favorite saxophonist! And Morphine is one of my favorite bands!!
I saw Morphine at the Music Farm in Charleston, SC in 93/94. What a time.
Absolutely Fabulous !
2 string bass - Mark Sandman.
Saxophone - Dana Colley.
Drums - Billy Conway.
Thank you, Johnathan.
This song is buena buena buena
that drum groove!! damn!!
I know, right!
Just a word: thanks.
Thanks for this quality! Rip Billy Conway!!
Amazing performance. First song I ever heard from Moirphine over 20 years ago and still holds up. Sandman putting it on good here..
Mark, we miss you so much.
Some of bands sounds like this. The most part of this baritone sound is bass, harmony and incredibly deep voice. Also distorted vocals still in use. But, real voice without autotune and a lot of effects sounds way better.
That silky voice. Greatly missed, Mark

Gran grupo de los años 90 en que hubo aún una buena cosecha de bandas.
So that was take 1, nice job boys !! Incredible song, the sax tone is banging...
this is just BEYOND. It's just the right amount of everything with an extra "atitude".
Thank you so very much indeed. That's just beautiful.
The table is rolling!
Love it. Had to stop work just to listen and react.
Possibly best lyric ever, 'i know some people wanna make you change, well i, i know how to make 'em go away'
Morphine, una banda buena, muy buena. Saludos desde Argentina
Just incredible. ❤
Tremenda la calidad del video y el sonido! Hacen más hermoso este temón!
The quality is so good it looks like it's from the future of better quality. Well done.
Love it!
Totally smooth and cool!!
AWESOME
Una chimba ese tema, buena, buena en español, excelente
Thanks for the ride.
Golden voice on that man. RIP.
No one will top morphine, the legendary band (and the chemical) the best
Loved em since the 90s. So great to come across this incredible version. Thanks for posting.
Quadruple thumbs up. If only all live recordings were this good.
De lo mas original de los ultimos 40 años
So amazing live. No studio can reproduce that flow
Sooo alt und immer noch sooo Gut
What an amazing sound, I only wish I got to see them live
So GOOD
Just WOW! Love it! (love me a good baritone sax, too!)
I just recently found this band but totally dig their sound
These guys were dope back in the day....
This is ABSOLUTELY one of the best performances of Buena I've heard. Is there a dvd or some sort of collection of all their live performances?? Sadly I was only 5 when their first album came out and only heard of this amazing band from my home town of BOSTON after it was too late to experience them live.
It is the best. This 2 metre session recording (and Sharks Patrol These Waters) were added to studio albums of Morphine by Rykodisc on request of the band.
fuck yeah
If you are still in the Boston area you can see and hear Vapors of Morphine live. They are awesome. I have seen them multiple times at the Atwood in Cambridge and just saw them at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge on 28Oct2022. They also play the Paradise.
Great stuff. More please.
Sumamente diferente ,agradable y de muy buena calidad ...
Raw, no fluff of todays music. Good good good.
Maravilloso!!! Awesome!!! Buscaba algo para publicar en el aniversario de la muerte de Mark y me encuentro con esta joya!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!
