In times of slavery in Brazil, slaves wanted to rebel against the colonels, but for that they would need to have the strength to fight so they created a martial art called capoeira. This martial art contained several instruments, vocals and was very similar to a dance, all for the colonels to think they were just having fun during the night. One of these instruments is the one that Max usually plays. It is called berimbau and is still used today in capoeira.
Sepultura at their prime was peak metal. There will never be another. As much as I like new Sepultura, Soulfly and CC, i really hope the original line up reunites some day.

In 1995, I decide to go snowboarding in Upstate New York and while walking around, I see Evan from Biohazard. We would practice in the big room at Fastlane Studio in Brooklyn where Merauder would practice before us and Biohazard would go in after we were done. At the time, I was a HUGE Sepultura fan, and he says, "Igor, I want to introduce you to one of my buddy's from Brooklyn. And that's how I met Igor Cavalera from Sepultura. Em 1996 chorei pela morte dos Mamonas Assassinas e dos Renato Russo, mas veio esse álbum maravilhoso do Sepultura e me deu ânimo e orgulho. Que álbum revolucionário.
Muito massa que mesclaram os tambores com o berimbau, cheguei a me arrepiar quando 2:06. Não sou metaleiro nem nada, mas esse tipo de banda me orgulha demais como brasileiro.

Listening to this and seeing them on set, in their element, makes me think of a Native American dance, where the Everywhere Spirit speaks through the medicine man to the masses.. who dance while they soak in every word.
I very much enjoy this over the original, something about all the different instruments they use in the beginning, plus the guitar screech is much more prevalent giving the intro a bigger feeling in terms of raw sound, plus with the goat hooves and that nose whistle their man in tie dye did, it all added a nice feeling to the song.
Sepultura nessa formação era imbatível, o arranjo dos caras era inigualável! O Max estava no auge do seu vocal, a parte instrumental estava muito demais. Nessa época sem dúvida nenhuma a maior banda do mundo. Porém hoje tanto sepultura quanto soulfly está muito diferente do que a gente viu, uma pena.

Respeito demais a raça e dedicação do Andreas de ter dado continuidade a banda. E respeito alguns sons novos que eles fizeram. Mas a energia dessa formação antiga era outro naipe. Música não é só virtuosismo. É feeling também. E a era do Max tinha de sobra.

Listening to this and seeing them on set, in their element, makes me think of a Native American dance, where the Everywhere Spirit speaks through the medicine man to the masses.. who dance while they soak in every word.
I very much enjoy this over the original, something about all the different instruments they use in the beginning, plus the guitar screech is much more prevalent giving the intro a bigger feeling in terms of raw sound, plus with the goat hooves and that nose whistle their man in tie dye did, it all added a nice feeling to the song.

Sepultura nessa formação era imbatível, o arranjo dos caras era inigualável! O Max estava no auge do seu vocal, a parte instrumental estava muito demais. Nessa época sem dúvida nenhuma a maior banda do mundo. Porém hoje tanto sepultura quanto soulfly está muito diferente do que a gente viu, uma pena.
