I think people are already mad now when the honeymoon phase is over, people are beginning to wake up and realizes what kind of a mistake the Series S was.

It's very similar scaling; especially using UE5 builtin scalability. Mainly, they would be trying to hit a certain quality on the series s that isn't possible without optimization. For PC scaling very low, you let the user pick and choose options to hit a specific playability level that isn't possible on the console because it wouldn't pass Microsoft quality requirements.

Purely the series s which is quite a bit lower powered compared to the other 2 big boys on the market. However, Microsoft has a rule that games have to release at the same time on both consoles. Thats causing the issue.
The problem here is John, like a giddy school kid loves to regal us with his insight on the lower memory pool on Series S, this everyone knows and is not in anyway an insurmountable problem, it is a challenge faced across the broad spectrum of PC hardware and not a unique Series S challenge. Joan previously embarrassed himself in front of an ID software Dev , trying to chuckle about Series S only to be told - politely - it was just different hardware requiring different solutions and here his colleagues are gently trying to rein in his inner fanboy - the issue is and always has been the huge development resources devoted to PS prioritisation , which are 'directly' transferable to which other platforms ?? That's right exactly none - there are no other RDNA 1.5 consoles or those running PS API - this is a huge time drain of developer resources to get the best PS version they can - PC can handle a poor port because there will always be hardware good enough to make lite of poor optimisation - but it is far from ideal - Series X is by this point used to weak porting effort but something like Series S does in fact require actual optimisation - optimisation which doesn't just benefit a platform living on an Island such as PS, but benefits other consoles and PC as we saw with BG3 - so while i appreciate John continually bringing up what everyone already knows, maybe he would like to just once broach the topic of the single platform holding back all of the others with its 'bespoke' requirements taking up so much of the available development resource's.
Not this tired, uninformed and incorrect logic again. If it is holding back gaming, then logic dictates that *no* game this generation should be running badly on PS5/Series X where they have about 2.5-3x the overall compute ability. Unfortunately that is not the case, and we have games that run like garbage, if they were all Series S spec, why aren' the running better on *much* better hardware?

Your statement is inaccurate, the SS is not holding back the advancement of gaming technology, and I dare you to prove it. While you are at it, I need you to explain any game on PS5 that has performances issues, that *is not* on Series S.
The notion that the Series S is holding back advancement or development falls apart when we have a PS5 or SX with up to 3X the raw compute ability struggling to hit 60fps in games at less than 4K resolution.
If these games were just Series S limited tech packages, those premium consoles should be pushing 60fps without much issues at quality settings, not performance. The PC side of gaming as prove that lower spec hardware, isn't holding anything back, time and time again.
@@davidandrew6855 did you even watch the video before compiling this response? @@Kecinlin I think it’s funny how digital foundry shows game performance of series x vs ps5 when it’s 8 million consoles vs close to 60 million consoles.
PARITY
It's PS5 exclusive , delay Xbox version for 6 or 12 months
Any Xbox player should have to wait at least 12 months.
Series S day one fault for Microsoft. We said this 4 years ago but same guys on this video not!😂
Strange to hear that, especially since both ps5 and xbox have almost identical hardware
Purely the series s which is quite a bit lower powered compared to the other 2 big boys on the market. However, Microsoft has a rule that games have to release at the same time on both consoles. Thats causing the issue.
Just let it release on series s with 300p resolution like all other games. That would be easy.
Because it is going to run 1080p/30fps on Series X, that’s why.
Wtf ?
“It’s PlayStation’s fault”

XBox tax strikes again 🤣
"PlayStation rUiNeD Me LiFe"
According xbots is xbox tax, Lol.
Series s is holding gameing back
Not this tired, uninformed and incorrect logic again.
If it is holding back gaming, then logic dictates that *no* game this generation should be running badly on PS5/Series X where they have about 2.5-3x the overall compute ability. Not to mention any gaming PC that costs more than $1000.
Unfortunately that is not the case, and we have games that run like garbage, if they were all Series S spec, why aren' the running better on *much* better hardware?
Series S was a huge mistake
Series S is such a drag for developers... I think they should just ignore S completely, leaving that shit with 5fps to show Microsoft what's up.
It feels to me Series S was developed with backwards compatibility in mind only.
I regret buying a Series S.
Finally a series s owners admits it. Thank you. Honestly tho thank you for saying it
The Series S has been a massive handicap for Xbox.
Because Xbox can’t handle running Black Myth Wukong
Cringe
Series S is probably why RTX Minecraft will never see the light of day on Xbox Series X.
Series s is messing next Gen up
I think it would be hilarious if the new switch is more powerful than the Series S
Bought my boys a series s... they only play roblox and fortnite. It is the only thing its good for.... i had a series x and sold it as i could not justify owning it. It is handicapped by the series s. I have a PS5 and a good PC. Also picked up a refurbished steam deck. Not sure if i will buy another console for myself at this point. The first xbox i have had since the 360 and i was very disappointed.
_" It is handicapped by the series s"_
Can you quantify that for us? Exactly how?
If you are referencing the clause of games releasing same time for both S and X, I agree there, Microsoft should remove that requirement. If you are talking about limiting the abilities of the Series x, you are absolutely incorrect on that one. If anything DX12 Ultimate development is more of a hindrance than Series S ever was or will be, IMO.
@davidandrew6855 The Series S is worse in every way. Games that require a lot of RAM are definitely going to be running into problems
@@GhoulSolo___ That was not the argument was it? The OP said the SS was a hindrance to the SX, and that is just not the case. I never said that RAM hungry games won't pose a challenge for the S, just that the S does not hold back the performant abilities of the Series X.
@davidandrew6855 Nobody is saying the Series S is holding back the performance of the Series X or the PS5 because that's just stupid. They're saying the games that release a lot of the time need to be reduced in a lot of ways just to get it running. Brothers: A tale of 2 Sons remake runs at 454P on the Series S, and Larian had to take split screen out of Baldurs gate 3 because they couldn't figure out how to get it running
@@davidandrew6855 The parity clause is what I was talking about, I should have clarified. I spent more money on a console only to get games well after they release on other platforms because MS didnt put enough ram in the SS. I understand it allowed people to get to next gen at a lower price but ot also gave the middle finger to the people who bought the more powerful and expensive console. I am not familiar with the details of game development but I would imagine that they have to factor in the lowest common denominator when making games, so thwy just dont do things that maybe they could if the SS had a bit more under the hood.
Hopefully it was to build a setting with the ability to toggle off the cringe monkey sounds from the protagonist during combat. Remember the patch to tone down Aloy being annoying in HFW…this is worse.
Series S was a mistake
