    I had to buy a whole new wardrobe in 2023 because of ongoing weight loss over the last decade. I’m a bit tired of shopping now, but I love everything I got, it’s 100% natural fiber/material and fairly sustainable, most is Euro-made, where working conditions and environmental standards are very good. For the first time, I shopped very thoughtfully and carefully, only buying fairly classic styles with an eye to modernity, versatility and longevity, it was a great success. I’m just filling in the last holes now and will keep spring and summer purchases to a minimum. Dressing is now a joy everyday! Summer dressing is hard in my hot climate, I can really only stand linen, but it’s too hot to iron it, so I love linen jersey. I hope H&M brings back their super-cool linen jersey dresses, I wear those a ton. I would love, when we get closer, extra-cool and lightweight summer options for high summer, which seems to go on forever here in California.

      Plus European made isn’t necessarily a sign of good standards, I’m from the uk where garment workers pay and conditions are notoriously atrocious and often illegal.

    • @solitairesimp1239
      @solitairesimp1239 7 месяцев назад

      @@rachelbrewin5618 the uk isn't part of the category of 'euro-made'. European made refers to the EU where there are EU guidelines in place. So Italy, Portugal, Spain, France etc.

      @solitairesimp1239
      Pay and conditions for garment workers in the U.K haven’t suddenly become poor since we left we the E.U, it’s been that way for decades, including when we were in the EU for decades. Our labour laws in this area have not changed since we left the E.U. Also it’s naive to think that E.U law is always enforced in Italy, Spain, Portugal, France etc with regard to pay, conditions, exploitation, environmental standards - it isn’t.

    • @solitairesimp1239
      @solitairesimp1239 7 месяцев назад

      @@rachelbrewin5618 still doesn’t change the general idea. The UK has never been regarded for its clothing production unlike the countries I mentioned that have been fashion and designer powerhouses for decades.

    I love the way you show that style and sustainability can coexist so beautifully. I also really appreciate the way that you show exactly what practical steps you take to put your principles into practice; more and more people mention sustainability in passing, but clearly have hardly changed the way they consume at all. I'd love to hear what your thoughts are on dry cleaning. Obviously the chemicals used in the dry cleaning process are bad from an environmental POV but some items just do have to be dry cleaned. I wonder how brave you are about what you try to wash at home, for instance....

    Mariola thank you - another inspirational and motivating video. I find your advice very ‘reassuring’ in terms of wardrobe selection and after watching I always reassess my clothes in a different way. I feel like this is a journey and we are learning along the way with these videos!

    So nice to see you again. I love the denim shirt with the pearls. I will have to try that look. I am working on a low-buy/no-buy year. The new year has me off to a good start. Your suggestions are well-taken. I am getting better at being conscious of the fabric content of the items I purchase. Thanks for your fabulous video.

    I love how you use second hand items of high quality. Yay! This is an awesome video. Coming up with outfits from clothes that I have or something that I could find at thrift stores is so much more interesting (to me) than just being a trend zombie and buying what everyone else is told to buy. Another great video❤

    Hi Mariola, you have such an excellent wardrobe/clothes. Love your styleing tips, especially in 7.05 min, and knitware instead of shawl. I wonder where you got those watebottles, and the backpack from first picture.. Pozdrawiam serdecznie😄

      Hi Malgorzata (Malgosia🥰). thank you so much for your lovely comment. It means so much to me. I guess when you wear a limited number of clothes and colours you become more creative. The backpack I already linked in the description box, but you can see more of it in my new video. And the bottles are from Chilly, we got them locally, but you can find a variety of sizes and colours on amazon. Pozdrawiam gorąco 🩷

    YES for shopping in our closets, nurturing our beautiful possessions, wearing them, re-wearing and re-styling them over and over.
    I am guilty of wanting to buy more and more and yet don't wear my beautiful things because they are “too nice”.
    For me, this year means minimal shopping for new. I will shop in my closet instead ❤️

      It takes a bit more time and attention to care for good quality clothes, lots of women are not willing to make that effort.
      Never put your clothes into dyer, especially wools. I wash my cashmeres in baby shampoo. ALWAYS wash darks and lights separately and turn dark items inside out.
      Coats, jackets with interfacings, tailored wool pants -dry clean 99% of the time or follow washing instructions on the label.
      your clothes will look nice and last a long time if you treat them with love,

    Great tips! I've become more interested in natural fibres in the last couple of months and it's made a world of difference. The experience of wearing a Merino wool jumper instead of one made from polyester / acrylic was just mind-blowing! I realised I had never had a jumper that kept me properly warm before, all my old ones just made me sweaty but somehow also not warm as well?! 🤯

      Witam serdecznie na moim kanale. Bardzo dziękuję za twój miły komentarz. Ojej angielski…bardzo długa droga. przeszłam przeróżne etapy: czytania książek, słuchania i oglądania TV i podcastów. Myślę, ze w wymowie bardzo pomaga wybranie sobie jednej (lub kilku) osób, których akcent chcemy osiągnąć i słuchanie ich wywiadów bądź filmów cały czas. Ja uwielbiam brytyjski akcent wiec polecam Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightly albo Tom Hiddleston. Później warto się nagrywać żeby sprawdzić jak to wychodzi w rzeczywistości 😁🥰

    We all know that we should avoid fast fashion, but that said , I have items from fast fashion brands in my closet that I bought more than 10 years ago and I still wear them, so not always it is that bad quality that I keep hearing all the time. You have to choose and choose well.

  • @MotoM0nk

    H&M and Zara have premium selection which is a decent quality items from natural fabrics. When deciding on eco concious retailers be aware of green washing - some brands are shout about being sustainable flag but actually may not be doing much in reality....also i'd stay away frim faux fur and vegan leather - these create much more plastic and CO2 than the real thing (of course am against new real fur - there is a lot of vintage ones on ebay at very affordable prices)

      Hi Kimberley, thank you for pointing that out. I can try and increase the volume next time, but I did compare it with some other videos on YT and they seem very similar. I also wouldnt want to go too high and distort the sound quality. I will examine it nonetheless, Regards😊
