- Finally back on the road after a broken transmission and Boom more van troubles. I think my van is trying to tell me not to travel this tear. UGH HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!!!!
My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after t11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts... to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED.

Freeze your blueberries in a freezer bag. They will stay delicious. The candy store looks fabulous. A great place to stop. Take care❤
I freeze blueberries too and take out what I need each day.
They are great frozen, wonderful for adding to pancakes or making smoothies in my Blendjet. 😋🥰

Chrome, before you pull that handle tool out, turn it half a turn. That way the plug will be twisted a half turn inside the tire. Always use the lube/plug glue as well, it helps the plug slide in. Cheers!
Just go with what your gut tells you as far as where you want to travel at this point. Can't go wrong when you listen to your gut. 😊
when looking for slow leaks in tires put a little dish soap in a spray bottle with water and soak it down then watch for the bubbles
Tire leak can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere, nothing you can do about it.
Chrome, my two cents is that you're letting that breakdown get inside your head. If you head back to the shop early, you're going to go stir crazy around November, if not sooner. Keep going!

California mojave desert and highways was hell on my tires living there for 3 years. I ran thousands of miles on plugs in each of my tires till I replaced the set. You'll be fine running a plug in a tire for awhile, I wouldn't stress about it.

I'm glad you were having fun backtracking but bummer dude on the tire. You got everything else fixed so ya know of course the tire decided to have some fun.
Next time, take the fridge out and plug it into the wall -- maybe in the Manager's office.

If you plugged that tire correctly, it's a permanent fix. I really enjoy your adventures. I once had to wait a week for an auto repair in Needles, CA. I think I stayed at the Bates Motel. Not fun at all, but I pretty much drank my way through it. Needles is known for being 30 miles from water and 2 feet from Hell.

Man, the tire plugging was such a callback to my teenage years. My mom was a postal worker and I used to plug holes in her mail jeep tires all the time when I was a young gun.
My wife likes watching your adventures, she gets pissed at me when I watch them without her ahead of time. I end up having to replay them for her. thanks for the laughs!

We here in the outback aussie use them, our 4x4 adventures , well they stake there tyres heaps and sometimes a whole pkt of the strips in one hole and they make it out of wild country.

BFG KO2's are an awesome all-terrain tire but they have a short life span compared to other off-road/all-terrain brands. I think you may get 1 more year out of them.
I love them but am just about to replace them. I got about 70k out of mine, which was 3 years. I don't know whats better to switch too since they were great in snow as well.
LOL, I'm on year 5 with the same set heavy offroad and on road use. You either have never had them, or you listen to stuff on the internet and think it's true.

Switched to Falkon Wildpeak AT/3's.
Maxxis RAZR AT are worth looking at.

Light the ends of the plug on fire and let it melt down. Blow it out when it becomes close to the tire .Will create a seal around the hole 👍
Chrome, the professionals will either do what you just did to the tire or tell you to get new ones.
You repaired just fine. You dont need to go tire shop.
Also. Stop into Stuies in Dawson Creek, The Shepherds Inn at Mile 72, the Pink Mountain Store at Mile 168 and the Buckinghorse for eats. Maybe save some of that candy for the drive from the Sikanni to Fort Nelson. And hit Liard Hot Springs, before you head west again.

As a FT solo female vanlifer, even with newer tires, I constantly worry about my tires because I'm more often than not traversing some seriously harrowing landscape - miles-long gravel and dirt roads full of washboards, ruts, potholes, mud, etc. It's nail-biting. I feel your plight, Chrome and Cruzie. Safe travels, thanks for sharing the ups and downs of your journey..

I had to replace two engines and a transmission in the past two years. I understand the loss when you can't drive your love.

I lived in Red Deer for 2 years recently and yes Gasoline Alley was a family favourite for the candy store and for the Donut Mill 🤘

From what I've experienced and seen of other nomads, I'm convinced that a lot of flats are the work of anti van life vigilantes. One thing that keeps appearing is a nail with the painted tip obviously dnipped off - as by a wire cutting tool. Maybe someone thinks this will result in a ragged more difficult to repair hole.
Look at the tread for the wear bars that serve as an indicators. You have to inspect all 4 tires.

I have put those patches in permanently many a times , over the last 45 yrs , even on the sidewalls, when they first came out in 1978 a salesman came in with about 200 of those between his 4 tires , side walls and everywhere, I usually give them a lil twist on the way back out to kinda ball it up inside the tire,even have used 3 at 1 time in a hole, never leaked, Oh and on my truck tires I don't even balance them, and never no shimmy or shaken, just saying

The plug repair will last the life of the tire. Have plugged several in my days without ever a problem.
The fires on Northern BC and NW territories are crazy. But the Alaska Hwy is great!

I’m at the part where you sneer at Honda Civics. Why does everyone do that? Aside from needing all new tires I have no way to buy, mine’s been a great little car! No other issues, & great gas mileage. Give us Civic owners a break, eh? My late friend was a Master Mechanic, & suggested I buy it. I miss him dearly, but think of him every time I get in that car. Now, if only I could put some new tread on her.🤦🏻♀️😂

chunks missing in your tires when you off road they way you do is normal. it's mostly from gravel roads. ask a tire sales person to show you the wear indicator marker that is on every tire so you know when it's time to replace them. low tread mostly increases danger of hydro-plaining in the rain.
