Gotta love smoothbrains who think they know something about film because some big money mass-consumption blockbuster they saw/heard about was bad. He played one part in making a bad movie that happened to be pretty popular. He's made good movies too you're just too lazy to even look them up. I'm not even a huge JJ Abrams fan I just think people who talk like this are idiots

Sorry but he destroyed star wars, he understood nothing about the political part, he made the 7th out of the first triolology. I can't take him as a good screenwriter... However, I did like mission impossible 3.

@@kyguy3242 tfa also draws inspiration from multiple sources and the plot outline for ANH is literally directly lifted from fellowship of the ring. originality doesnt matter. its not a mark of quality.
@@xXDexter3000Xx Lol ANH isn't directly lifted from Fellowship at all. Like I said, multiple sources gave its inspiration. I would probably hand most of Star Wars' inspiration to Buck Rogers serials and old Western films. LOTR itself is another original story that has multiple sources of inspiration. There's a clear difference between inspiration and outright copying the plot of another story. Force Awakens has way too much in common plot-wise with A New Hope. The same can't be said for mere similarities between LOTR and Star Wars. The only real thing those stories have in common are a setting & plot involving magic/the force, a battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil, and protagonists on the hero's journey. You'd be surprised just how many stories those elements apply to, but that doesn't make them all copies of each other. It's just a common story format. In TFA, they straight up have another death star, only bigger, which also destroys planets and then itself gets destroyed by rebel/resistance pilots at the climax. That's more than mere inspiration or common story formatting.
@@kyguy3242 except the death star is just an analogue for castles and fortresses in classic fantasy stories, so it makes a lot of sense to have another one in the sequel trilogy. personally i wouldve preferred if it was a plot point that developed over the course of the trilogy instead, but the notion that the creative thread starts w the death star is ridiculous. and yes, FOTR is structured like classical mythological stories, but the specific progression is copied directly in sw 77 (calling it ANH is sacrilege). thats not s bad thing. there's a few elements in TFA that are too close to SW77 for sure, but they only harm the overall cohesion of the franchise, not TFA itself, and its far preferable to characters in universe constantly acknowledging plot similarities as to make the audience aware that the creators are in on the discourse. i dont see why TFA shouldnt have been a soft remake of the best star wars movie. i dont see how it hurts the film to replicate the greatest blockbuster of all time. the stupid disneyplus shows and cgi childrens garbage are certainly "original" but they're also garbage and could be literally any other franchise. TFA is more star wars in its essemce than almost any post-1999 blockbuster. the world is just too cynical now to see the value in that.
