    This is crazy helpful for me. Thank you for the information. I have my mixed (AA / White) daughter for the summers and by the time she gets to me, her hair is crazy tangled. Her mom is AA and wears a fade style low cut because she hates doing her own hair. She washes my daughters hair maybe once a month if she's lucky. Every time I try to talk to her about my daughters hair, it turns into an argument because she says I don't know what I'm talking about. Ever since out divorce, I've tried to keep her hair moisturized when she is with me, but I always run into issues detangling and parting. Everyone can see her hair is too damaged and dry except her. I spent over 3 hours in the bath with her trying to detangle but I got nowhere. My fiance tried to help but when we got to scalp, it was too overwhelming. We are planning to try again in a few days when she is off from work and have more time to get it done. I'm going to "attempt" to follow your tips and advice and hopefully get it done as gentle as possible. She does have a VERY tender scalp.

      Do you have a natural hair salon where you live? Maybe you can take her for a wash, treat, detangle, and get her hair braided, so by the time your daughter comes back to you, it will be time for her to get her hair braided down again. While she has the braids in, her hair can be washed or conditioned and rinsed. I usually keep my braids in 1-2 months, but I know some people who keep them in longer, with little breakage.
      However, this would require you to maybe carry her to the salon more often than when you have her in the summer if possible. :)

    Starting the detangling process in the pre-poo process is KEY, especially for me bc my hair is so dense/thick. Recently I’ve gotten really good at detangling though so wash days in general have become a lot less stressful for me. And I have to thank you for that bc you helped me establish a routine that WORKS and now I enjoy washing/taking care of my hair. So thanks Jenn!!

      Try prepoo with oil, castor oil and Brahmi oil is great. I then wash with Hello Hydration shampoo while my hair is in a bun. I take it down to put deep conditioner in. I also use deep condition products with fenugreek and oils that encourage hair growth. KCurlsys.com has great natural hand made deep conditioners and oils. This has limited my shedding tremendously.

      Ah interesting! I haven't done that before. I always prepoo on dry hair

    • @blairwalker12
      @blairwalker12 4 года назад +1

      @@JennJackson now that's news to me... Hmmm I may try that. I was always under the assumption you prepoo only slightly damp hair, let it sit under a cap, then proceed to wash. I saw a technique where they sprayed their hair, put a light coating of olive oil, finger and comb detangled the hair, then set it under a cap cuz oil will mess up pillows. Then the next day while the hair was still in twist washed the hair, followed by adding deep conditioner for 30 min - hour ( detangling if needed). All that to finally rinse and add moisture and sealant (order based on preference) and style.

    Before I comment on the video,I want to say your makeup is beautiful. I have started implementing pre-poo b4 washing. I'm learning to use a diluted shampoo on my scalp instead of my scalp and hair. I try to wash in sections by my twists seems 😅 to unravel themselves. Great 📹!

      Thanks for sharing!! I typically do a combination of twists and bantu knots to prevent my hair from unravelling

    Your hair progress is amazing! I think I am too rough on my hair :/ I lose the most hair detangling. I’m Gonna try detangling only on wash days to see if I notice anything.

      So wash day detangling I love it!! It works!! Jenn💜🙌💯from pre-poo👌👌, I need to say this thou that I forgot to detangle with conditioner in and only realized when i was washing it out and halfway I ran out of hot water 😂😂😂😂🤭, then I stopped re- applied it then went in with my fingers and afropic comb( wide tooth comb was too expensive the last time I saw it in store) will get it soon thou then rinsed off😌😌😌😌 it was magical thank you sis💜💜💜 I was definitely sneaking up on her she did not see it coming🥰🥰🥰.... I went to work next day with my twists in... normalizing wearing twist... but I wanna bantu knot her for two weeks and rock my knots to work inspired by you boo💐🌸🌺
