    This is the 6th vid on calibrating a pH meter Ive watched and no one ever tests the calibration by testing the solutions after calibration is complete. Does anyone know how science works? We are doomed as a society.

    I have bought 2 off amazon that came with a tds meter... The tds on both set work well and are accurate. Both ph meters never work right. I calibrated them right, one would never work right at all it would only read 16.00 and 00.40. The 2nd took the calibration but never read right. It read the solutions right but never would read ph accurate. It was saying my tap was 6.13 and walmarts distilled being 8.83. Their distilled is 4.0

      Mine did too, I removed the battery and cleared it. Then I calibrated in the 6.86, rinsed in clean distilled water then put it in the 4.01 solution pushed the calibration button then push it again to get it to 4.01 before the error shows up. Same with the 9.18 except you have to push the calibration button twice quickly to get to the 9.18 calibration. Had to play around with it for a while. Mine comes up with a end message after each calibration. I also found that if I held the button a little too long I got the error message. Pulling the top out with the battery seems to be the way to clear the error. If yours is hard wired to the battery compartment remove the batteries and reinstall them to clear the error.

    Hi @mpjaoline, I used tap water to dissolve the buffer powder. Is it an issue?
    I have the same PH meter as yours and never used it yet.
    After calibrating the PH meter, when it is left open it reads 0.00
    When it is in the 6.86 solution it reads 6.04
    When it's in the 4.01 solution it reads 4.03
    When it's in the 9.18 solution it reads 8.97
    When it is in tap water it reads 6.05
    Can I considered that the reading of my tap water PH level is accurate?
    If I am aiming 6.2 to 6.5 do I need to do anything ?

    • @greendesert69
      @greendesert69 4 года назад

      umm of course it's an issue. tap water is a totally unknown ph. it could be anywhere from 6-8.5 ish
      you're supposed to use distilled water because that is a known exact ph
      that calibration is worthless with tap water.
