Not sure why everybody talking about taking out the bones... they are soft, edible and a source of calcium.

This video was so peaceful to watch with the edits and close ups, plus the music.
But what in the what lol 😂 just onions and ketchup?
Try making a pilchards curry, add in ginger, garlic, spices (garam masala, turmeric, cumin, coriander powder or whatever you have), salt, chillies of preference (I prefer green but you can add chilli powder or chilli flakes), then add the ( I prefer deboned) pilchards and some peas with chopped coriander to garnish. Serve with rice 🤌🏼

Gently remove the bones while leaving the fish intact and set aside.
Fry (use lard, or veg oil)1 large onion, garlic, ginger.
    Add a can of tomatoes.
Add some chicken stock powder/cube to taste & salt and pepper.
Add chilli if you like the heat.
    Add a pinch of sugar.
Gently cook for 5 minutes and add the deboned fish.

Try pouring the tin onto a plate and gently opening the fish and taking out the long thin bone that runs along the middle and then transfering the fish and sauce into a pot of freshly boiled potatoes.
Then mince the fish into the potatoes really well and let it all cool down, then form nice size fish cake's and fry slowly for about 15 minutes each side until you have a good colour on each side.
Then you will have the tastiest fish cakes ever !!!

Not helpful. No idea how long the onions are going to take to cook or to what stage to cook them. Short of being caramelized? Also, how much ketchup I should use if I'm not going to use two fast food packets? How long does the entire thing take to cook? Also, the video could have been cut down by at LEAST two minutes if you took out the repetitive cutting and onion cooking. There was no need to make me watch all that and not give any specifics NOR write down the recipe anywhere.

@@sandie321 they were pilchards in tomato sauce, the added ketchup is (probably) to add a sour (vinegar) component to the sauce and intensify the tomato flavour.
