Not gonna lie I fucking love your roomates almost sarcastic engagement and his choice to be silent at the end rather than lie about his enjoyment. Honestly though, I found this useful so thank you.
You just made getting through Lincoln and Guba's article possible for me: I turned your presentation into a compare/contrast master chart as I listened (a million pauses later) and then I listened to this presentation all the way through to reflect on my understanding. I sure wish I did this days ago. Thank-you so much for taking the time to put this together for folk you do not know. Your generosity of time and spirit is appreciated.
Thank you for sharing your work! I am just starting a PhD in Transformative Studies and the first article I read on Paradigm Controversies made my head hurt. Luckily, I found your RUclips channel and I am actually excited to know more. I'll be sharing with my classmates. :-)
@@PatNorman I'm working towards living definitions of chance and indeterminacy within the field of experimental music composition. From what I can tell, there are mixed messages in my field, and whilst I don't argue for a "true" definition, (although I do have my own), I want to present the varying definitions as explicitly as possible.
Really really enjoyed this! Found it SUPER helpful, thank you. As a South African though I was disappointed that the continent of 'Africa' was defined as a 'country' during your explanation.
Apologies - I think we slipped between using the word continent a few moments before and country a bit later due to laziness. Second mention should - of course - have referred to Africa as a continent.
Pat, thank you for your explanation of the different research paradigms. I enjoyed your usage of pop culture to explain the paradigms. I am currently working on my master's degree in learning design and technology. We are learning about research versus evaluation. Do you believe that research differs from evaluation, or do you see them as similar/overlapping? How do you see the different research paradigms feed into evaluation?
It's a shame the movie Luggage of the God's is unobtainium these days. Great demonstration of interpretation... Update - No Way! Just bought the DVD on Amazon, somebody has kept the legend alive...
It would seem that axiology would the most foundamental factor in defining a particular research paradigm, since values and cognitive valences (instinctual/learned) shape how we see the world, including knowledge, and motivates what we do.
Hi, which paradigm would the 'imaginative' fit into? Their Ontology is 'Reality' is created by the reciprocity between subject and object, the observer and the observed.
Was following pretty well until... Jordan Peterson a positivist?? He's a psychologist, and postpositivist perhaps, but positivist seems a little incorrect.
I just started online university and had a really hard time understanding research paradigms. This video was very helpful. Thank you so much!
same here dude , i have exam tomorrow and i was stuck in this topic ... thank you @Pat norman

Wow I am replying to this late but I'd love to see the chart you built!

Great job on this video and presentation, guys! Much appreciated. (Note: @3:39 of the video, the term coined by K Conway was "alternative facts")
Oh yes, what a great piece, I am starting my PhD on financial accountability. It brings out clearer insights about research paradigms. Thanks
Pat, thank you for an outstanding presentation. You are an excellent teacher!
Thank you very much Belinda!
Thanks! It’s grateful to find your video when I am struggling to form my methodology in the 1st year submission.
Thank you! This has been of great help to me.
Trying to develop my own research paradigm for my PHD, this is very helpful thank you.
Really enjoyed this. I am studying for my research methodology final exam and this is helpful :)
Thank you very much, I'm glad to hear you found it helpful!
This was extremely well done -- thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I just started my master degree and this video is really helpful!
thank you so much for making this. It helps me understand research paradigm better now after being confused from class
Thanks for clearing up what is a Research Paradigm. I’ve started back to school, and your video is beneficial.
Thank you! I've been struggling with the aspect of my Thesis since I started my phd a couple of years ago. This has helped no end!
Glad it was helpful! What's your thesis about Jason?

Thank you so much for this helpful video. But I wish we had a bigger sound!
Amazing video , thank you so much for sharing it with us. I was studying a research methods course and this made it just easier.
Thank you sir
Really helpful and fun! Thanks for this
The other guys said ”Sheldon Cooper” 🤣🤣🤣
I just got here, but this is great content dude
Very well done! Thank you so much.

Thanks so much!!! It helps me a lot!
You're welcome!
Awesome video. One comment: Africa is not a country it is a continent.

Great explanation and your swearing made me laugh lol.
great video, good information. thanks for sharing
😂 “oh God, why the f*** animations” 1:49
Kelly Ann Conway spoke about Alternative Facts.
Please share videos of all research paradiams

Good discussion Pat.
"Alternative facts"
did I hear something on 3m45s
Did you say the F* word, here I am listening with my son!
Curious how you’d look at pragmatism as a paradigm? :)
Your videos are genius
It helps me understand the research paradigm better. Thank you so much . Your pronunciation is a little bit difficult. Slowdown your speech, please...
Yeah he rolls to much I could’nt grab some words. English is’nt my mother tongue language
Can we use positivism in qualitative research in social sciences

HOMOSEXUALITY IS ONLY 200 YEARS OLD??? What about the Ancient Greeks and Romans???
Why do you consider medicine, politics and education science when they clearly are not?
So unprofessional! You need to clean this up.
No it's fine. Go elsewhere dude.
