@@Ahmed-bk1gc Though in a segregated ceremony, Hattie McDaniel won Best Supporting Actress for her iconic portrayal of Mammy in GWTW in 1939, beating out all other white female Supporting, includung co-star Olivia de Havilland who was sure she was going to win and apparently was pretty miffed she didn't. Sidney Poitiers won in the late 60s for not that good a performance in my opinion.
Yul Brenner deservedly won Best Actor for The King and I in the early 50s.
Sharif was robbed of a Best Supporting Actor for this movie as Peter O'Toole was robbed for not winning Best Actor. Sharif said in an interview in 1963 that he flew out from Egypt to Hollywood to attend the Oscars as all the papers and world film critics practically said he was so favorited he was going to win.
As far as Sharif winning for Dr. Zhivago, maybe Best Actor for that...I don't remember other nominations for that year though so...

One of the best movies ever, in my view, with the story of the love and courage of the author underlying it. When The Sound of Music won best picture over Dr. Zhivago, the Academy Awards forever lost their credibility. Omar Sharif may not have been acting, but the world -- the women anyway -- fell in love with him and appreciated him. The story of Boris Pasternak and his mistress, Olga Ivinskaya, should be a warning to all under-educated students and Democrats who are today foolishly and ignorantly pushing for socialism -- "a different kind of democratic socialism," which of course does not exist. All socialism collapses into the horrors that Boris and Olga experienced at the hands of the socialist/communist state.

@@maijaliepa119 How old are you Maija? Unfortunate enough to have been educated in the dumbed-down education systems of today that don't require students to learn economics and history?
As far as the socialism ruining Boris Pasternak's and Olga's lives, here is a short documentary for you to watch: ruclips.net/video/mU0MMUcCqcE/видео.html
How do I know that all socialism collapses? I am old enough to have witnessed it, live, as it played out. Even Sweden, once a socialist country, that had to revert to capitalism to avoid total destruction and bankruptcy. I urge you to learn about Sweden's brush with socialism. Sweden's generous government programs today are funded by capitalism, as are the government programs for all mixed economies today, including the U.S. that funds the largest government healthcare sector in the world (medicare and medicaid).

Norma Mimosa i think people in usa r merely looking for a more equitable civilization. Where we all matter. Where all people have health care, for one example. Nothing on earth can be perfect. I lived (for a while) under wretched communism - and yet under that genocidal system, my 93 year old grandmother recieved in-home visits by a med doc. I no longer expect any human anywhere to be perfect - i should say i aspire to that non-judgmental space in my mind. Am sick-n-tired of assuming, judging, condemning-i choose the alternative. I will not condemn these who aspire for more balance. 💙🙏💙BLACK LIVES MATTER; FIRST NATIONS LIVES MATTER(NATIVE AMERICAN); HISPANIC LIVES MATTER, PAN-ASIAN LIVES MATTER. My White Privilege is speaking out. And, yes, when a Police Car stops me - i am afraid.💙🙏💙6-7-20💙🙏💙Be Safe💙🙏💙😷💙🙏💙😷 PS Upon reflection: I want to add - no one person has all the answers. No one system of political control has all the answers. One day at a time . Have gratitude for what u have today - for what is here today. And if u have health care, food, a home, an income, a car / friends, loved ones, pets - and above all: love and mercy, kindness, for yourself - what else do you need. Surely not fear.

    • @normamimosa5991
      @normamimosa5991 4 года назад +1

@@maijaliepa119 There is absolutely nothing equitable about socialism. Innate in human nature is for those who produce the best results to get paid the best for those results, without having to share it with those who are not producing the best results or, in fact, any results (those who spend their lives on welfare at other people's expense). Equity includes fair return for fair value. The value of, say, a customer service representative, is greatly less than the value of a doctor, or a CEO of a large company, or an entrepreneur who successfully creates products or services that millions want and use (e.g. Apple, Amazon, Starbucks).
What on earth are you talking about - your white privilege? In today's world, privilege is earned and has nothing to do with color. Shame on you for allowing agitators persuade you that you are particularly privileged. I can assure you there are millions of black and brown people who are far more privileged than you. There also millions of white, black and brown people who are less privileged than you. If you are so sorry about being "privileged," then how about seeking out rioters and handing them your computer or phone -- maybe give your bedroom up for one of them. Not likely, right? Then stop being a hypocrite.
Anyone who is stopped by police has certain trepidation; however, if you are on the right side of the law, and/or co-operate with them if you are pulled over for, say, a traffic violation, you have nothing to worry about. If people don't agree with alleged violations, they they can appeal them in the courts, not start fighting or attacking the police. Interestingly, since the police have been wrongly accused by individuals in the black community, they now video all their traffic stops. When those pulled over falsely accuse them of harassment or abuse, they post the videos on line for all to see what actually happened. Very revealing. The videos show the police did nothing wrong in these instances; that the violators were the aggressors.
In the U.S. all people have healthcare, not the same quality of healthcare. Those who don't have insurance, end up in the government system (medicaid). In countries that have government healthcare, I can assure you, they are pretty bad and out of date. I know, I have experience socialized healthcare. The U.S. has the best healthcare facilities & treatments in the world, precisely because its private sector and motivation. Most government healthcare systems today are in serious trouble; not sustainable. There simply isn't enough money. All Western countries, except Canada, have two-tier medical systems, including the U.S., as I pointed out. It's great that a doctor visited your grandmother at home, but I can assure you that this does not generally happen in socialized systems today.
ALL LIVES MATTER. The idea of dividing up ethnic groups so that, say, just Black Lives Matter is fraught with danger. Identity politics pits groups against each other & stirs up racial hatreds. As far as I am concerned, the quicker the term, "race," is banished, the better off we will all be. There is only one race on earth, the one to which we all belong, the human race. INCLUSION should be our mantra. Many people feel left out & are left out. In the U.S., the majority in the poor communities are black. Solutions to that are not to riot, loot, burn, attack and murder, lie about opposing politicians, attempting to bring them down, or painting all cops bad because a few are bad. Solutions are fixing causes. Priorities: Re-vamp schools in poor neighborhoods, including re-introducing discipline and essential subjects (math, all the sciences, history, economics, finance). Re-introduce absolute valuation instead of relative valuation. Re-introduce after-school & fitness programs - make them mandatory. Problem is that's not easy. Schools come under the jurisdictions of the states. Too many democrat states will not get rid of teachers' unions that prevent change and prevent lousy teachers from being fired - funding also an issue, especially if huge chunks of taxes go to healthcare. Next priority. Rid schools & universities from political agendas being taught, particularly the absurd trends these days: identity politics, gender stretching, safe places to hide when feelings are hurt, etc.
Wish you the best. Your wishes for me: "And if u have health care, food, a home, an income, a car / friends, loved ones, pets - and above all: love and mercy, kindness, for yourself - what else do you need." reveal your true thoughts. Too young to remember the bread lines under socialist/communist societies? Healthcare in the USSR was abysmal - no healthcare innovation as people were not rewarded for efforts. Incomes in Venezuela today are not sufficient to buy bread - people are rummaging in garbage cans for food. Very few people under socialism can afford cars. In the USSR and the Eastern Bloc, before their collapse, people were under constant fear because they did not know if their friends worked for the secret police. Friends, yes, and pets, unconditional friends to many.
Be thankful for the advantages of the world today, that, yes, historically grew out of systems, inventions, science and principles of the West (white people), giving all people the opportunity to share in the benefits, innovate and create themselves.

Norma Mimosa i just read that the Chicago Board Police Director was beaten with batons by his own men, during a demonstration. According to article, he was out walking, a demonstration materialized around him -police then beat him with batons while he was caught up in it. He is Black. As he says in the article, Chicago newspaper, it doesnt matter for a Black person what his/her accomplishments are, or who they are, they will be subject to racist exploitation-violence at some point in their life - for most black men it is daily.💙🌎💙My thought is this - this lifetime u may have EVERYTHING - but as they say - Karma is a Bitch - things change, the pendulum swings. 1 life u r a HAVE next life time u r a HAVE NOT. Balance. Sooner or later, this lifetime or the next, we all learn (imbibe) higher human-spiritual values. One is humbled. No one gets out of here alive. No one gets off the treadmill ladder of growing towards love/higher-n-higher evolution. We circle back here to this planet/dualistic world or to some other territory, in order to keep learning, evolving - we
keep growing in awareness. That is the desire of the “soul” - there is no question about it. One’s status changes lifetime to lifetime - in order for optimum evolution of one’s life’s experiences. Sooner or later one is humbled. All the world’s a stage” and we but bit players on that stage, lifetime after lifetime. Sooner or later one surrenders to the pull of the “better parts of one’s nature” to the desires of the higher self towards- o lets say: compassion et al. Read Alexander Solzenheitsen’s (spelling?) books on the Gulag. Educate yerself . 💙🙏💙Unquestionably that will be/is yer fate as well- to evolve. As all human’s fate is equal = to evolve towards higher “being ess” - sooner or later each one awakens. Good Luck with that♥️🎁♥️

The direct was mistaken by giving you the freedom of performance.
With all respect, no you don’t know how Arab in Arabian Peninsula communicate, greet, or act. You are familiar with Egyptian culture only, which is different. In addition, the historical era was different as well.
But despite the mistakes, the overall all was not so bad.
