Saw them front row in Sheffield, i felt sick with excitement when this was playing .. screaming my heart out when i saw Geddy walk on stage i almost had a heart attack! Greatest night of my life ever!!!
Neil getting down with the disco version is PRICELESS!!! It is so cool that Rush has such a GREAT sense of humor. How can you not love these guys? One more thing...are Neil and Tom Hanks long lost twin brothers?
I just finished Geddys Effin Life book and had to come looking for this. Damn I miss the band.. Thank you for the lifetime of memories from a gen X'r..
Oh my God.... That was so awesome... that they don't take themselves so seriously after all these years... best RUclips video ever. You even got Neil to act!! AMAZING!
I was at the "time machine tour" when they were in Toronto, and they played this after every break. I was half deaf by the time the concert was done and IT WAS AWESOME!!! You can't duplicate this stuff with any other band. EVER.
Played in Vancouver, BC Canada on Thursday June 30th - wow!! Vignettes are sooooo funny!! Neil's solo killed!! "Closer to the Heart" made water leak out my eyes, eh! Almost 40 years and they still don't suck so bad! Rash rulez!!
@superunt43 That is definitely true. The world never truly appreciated the skill and talent of one of the GREATEST bands to ever hit a stage. I put them on a par with the Who, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Stones, etc: The real heavy hitters of rock history. They have forced themselves into the mainstream through sheer talent. The fact that they are funny and make fun of themselves just makes them even cooler. The world thinks of them as hockey jocks, but you and I know better. Rock On superunt43
steviea427 I’m not sure if I should be happy or to regret, but being 41 im only discovering them now, and Its like first love, they are just incredible !! Where I was ?
Ok so I can’t stop thinking about the fact that they had to go record spirit of radio with accordion and tuba for this. Not only that but several different versions! Did they call Weird Al? That must have been surreal for whoever did it. But they pulled it off. How could you do that without cracking up?
What makes it funny is they all make fun of their individual heritage: Geddy, the Jewish sausage man,Alex, the fat Yugoslavian and Neil the Scottish cop! Too funny!
@mrthundaboots Actually, Neil's playing the part of an Irish cop. Listen carefully when he says, "Jesus, Mary and Joseph" - he's saying those words with an Irish accent, not a Scots accent.
I saw them and Don kirshner's Rock concert when they open up with temples of syrinx into soliloquy and so on and for some reason I cannot find it anywhere
I have the Rash tshirt that Getty Lee has and at my high school, only one or two people knew that it was related to Rush, people this generation, make me sick... smh -_-'
@superunt43 The Stones definitely pale in comparison, but they are very influential, which is why I listed them. The Beatles and the Who are very influential also, and were creative in evolving over the years like Rush has done. That is why I listed them. Rush and Pink Floyd have much in common: they both put out complete theme albums which explore the human condition, they both have very heavy lyrics, and they both are awesome in musical creativity. I like other groups, but I LOVE Rush.
Dare I say that this is on par with Monty Python? And this is members of a major rock band having fun in this way. This is epic fun. And they're pretty good musicians too!
Absolutely hilarious... I missed the whole Time Machine tour but I am glad to see that the "holy triumvirate" are still willing to ham it up. Also loved the "Clockwork Angels" troll scenes. Hmmm.... maybe they can retire as the New Three Stooges after all? (Die hard Rush fan)
This is indeed the best version of the intro video - but it's too bad you didn't leave in even a few seconds of the ACTUAL "Spirit of Radio" just to show the transition... Thanks for posting, though.
So wait. The cop is Peart, Gershon is Geddy, and _ is Alex, and in the second film the director is geddy and the owner is Alex, but where is Peart in the second movie?
@superunt43 The greatest who ever lived? That is a TOUGH one. I will have to take some time and think it over. Rush is definitely in the top 3 though. They will probably come out as number 1 but I want to keep my options open. Rock On Bro.
@steviea427 You may indeed be correct? Talent does have the tendency to gravitate? May I humbly ask why the guys not own the hall, let alone reside there? Well, they are Canadian, world views them as only hockey jocks? Go figure?
Neil looks like Tom Hanks playing the conductor in the Polar Express
Yea he does. That's so funny 😂
Saw them front row in Sheffield, i felt sick with excitement when this was playing .. screaming my heart out when i saw Geddy walk on stage i almost had a heart attack! Greatest night of my life ever!!!
Alex Lifeson is actually a really good actor!
Alex is hilarious and a great guy. I always saw him bringing kids up to sit with him on stage in later years.
@@wiskyvet plus he is an extra in a few movies, so he technically is an actor.
Alex it's hilarious. He plays a great fat guy. This whole thing is hilarious
Miss Neil. Love that clip, so glad I was able to experience it in my life. Condolences to family, friends and fans around the globe
the dvd was filmed in cleveland OH. and that was my first concert ever. thanks dad!
Saw them on Snakes and Arrows in Albuquerque. Glad I did. Awesome show. Miss you Niel Peart. RIP.
My favorite band has always been RASH and the greatest drummer O'Mally....
“Nobody beats our sausage”
RIP Neal Peart
Let's all kill ourselves
@@bilbobaggins4710 You first .
I love how Rush doesn't take themselves to seriously they love to joke around. Great personality very wholesome humble guys 💜🧡👍
Neil getting down with the disco version is PRICELESS!!! It is so cool that Rush has such a GREAT sense of humor. How can you not love these guys? One more thing...are Neil and Tom Hanks long lost twin brothers?
Well he was into the Police and the Talking Heads.
RUSH is my favorite to this day. They made alot of 80's and 90's songs and they're still at their best at rockin'.
I just finished Geddys Effin Life book and had to come looking for this. Damn I miss the band.. Thank you for the lifetime of memories from a gen X'r..
Yes, I will never forget the Vancouver show.
First and only time I have seen them in our fine home country.
LOVE LIVE CANADA
LOVE LIVE RUSH !!
Oh my God.... That was so awesome... that they don't take themselves so seriously after all these years... best RUclips video ever. You even got Neil to act!! AMAZING!

Love that little nudge at Neil's past.
Nothing Rush ever did didn't suck so bad
Love this - Alex Lifeson is a scream!
To me you're a genius; To O'Malley you're a genius but to a genius, you're no genius. lol
Sausage, Kugel, and gefilte(r).....feeling a bit hungry now.🤔
RIP Professor. Peace to everyone else.
Clearly RASH is ahead of their time.
I Laughed my ass off when I saw this intro movie last friday, at their concert!
Freakin best intro ever
Oh man, it was so exciting when they came out, so incredible to be there.
Rush rules. Best band in rock history. Saw this show twice. Best concerts I've ever seem.
I was at the "time machine tour" when they were in Toronto, and they played this after every break. I was half deaf by the time the concert was done and IT WAS AWESOME!!! You can't duplicate this stuff with any other band. EVER.
If only they could release those remixes, I'd get the Spirit of Radio disco in a heartbeat
Saw them last night in Hamilton, Ontario. Best Rush show I have ever seen.
Real time. Half time. Bass time. SAUSAGE TIME!!!!
"It doesn't suck so bad this time, Papa."
I love their sense of humor. That cracks me up that he word "Gefilter" is on the time machine. Gefilter...as in Gelfilte fish. LOL! :-p
Alex is very funny and a super nice guy! Always brought kids to sit up next to him onstage in these later years. I appreciate that. RIP Neil.
Oh my... My favorite band suddenly became The Monkees....
How good actors they are... and funny too
Played in Vancouver, BC Canada on Thursday June 30th - wow!!
Vignettes are sooooo funny!!
Neil's solo killed!!
"Closer to the Heart" made water leak out my eyes, eh!
Almost 40 years and they still don't suck so bad!
Rash rulez!!
One of the best performances of the last years. RUSH, it's not a surprise!
I love this intro!! "garbage is my friend from old country" lmao
Love these guys

"Sounds like the damned howling in HADES!"
Ok so I can’t stop thinking about the fact that they had to go record spirit of radio with accordion and tuba for this. Not only that but several different versions! Did they call Weird Al? they are also GREAT actors &-))
They should make more of this stuff. LMAO. Great when I first saw it. Ten years already. Wow.
Holy crap 1..these guys are just sick..is there anything they can't do ?..comedy ?..wow..these guys are just the best !
3 people have had a sense of humour by pass.
this was hilarious, a classic way to start a great concert.
saw them this summer in CA
Ha I was at this concert very good night with Rush!!!!!
Who doesn’t love love a polka version of spirit of radio?
@mrthundaboots Actually, Neil's playing the part of an Irish cop. Listen carefully when he says, "Jesus, Mary and Joseph" - he's saying those words with an Irish accent, not a Scots accent.
Alex is just rocking the fat suit. He's having so much fun!
I saw them and Don kirshner's Rock concert when they open up with temples of syrinx into soliloquy and so on and for some reason I cannot find it anywhere
That is TOO freaking, funny! Who said Rush takes themselves too serious? NOT!!!!
I was 14 when that album came out
Eeet doesnt suck so bad dees time! I saw them last week in So. Fla. AWESOME!!!!
OMG! Alex is freakin' hysterical... he should definitely be should be in movies...
He's a natural comic.
this had me in tears...damn funny
the great part is: the polka version, disco version and bluegrass/country version are all good and catchy!!!!!
I have the Rash tshirt that Getty Lee has and at my high school, only one or two people knew that it was related to Rush, people this generation, make me sick... smh -_-'
And this is why I love Rush.
Absolute pure genius

So sad of neils passing
@superunt43 Alex and Geddy started the band in '68.Neil joined in '74....
Geddy with a mustache and soul patch looks like FZ
\
He is, he starred in a couple of episodes of Trailer Park Boys and a couple of other movies.
@superunt43 I will but I have to take care of some things first. I will get back to this thread as soon as I can.
He looks like Tom Hanks in the Polar Express when he's dressed like a Police Officer. It's crazy!!!
that was great
this was the intro film for the time machine tour.
test tubes in a time machine ( actually say that 5 times fast )
This is indeed the best version of the intro video - but it's too bad you didn't leave in even a few seconds of the ACTUAL "Spirit of Radio" just to show the transition...

When Alex will finally devour that overcooked piece of meat from whatever invertebrate alien, it came from.😂
Oh my shit this was awesome!
@Octovaitor The bespectacled cameraman, of course! The one that tells 'Warhol' that he hates him! lol. ;)
COME TO GREECE PLEASE!!!
It doesn’t suck so bad this time Papa... lol...
