Fun fact: that’s an original song from her last Christmas album. It’s about her husband which wrote going through divorce. Last year she said she will never sing that song live ever again because she can’t get through it without crying. This one performance took her 7 takes to get though it without crying. She’s just too good and genuine 😩❤️
This song breaks my heart every single time I hear it. Her first Christmas album was her first album after being married, and her second Christmas album was her first album after being divorced. The stark contrast in emotions is a gut punch.

Haven't seen any reactions to this song yet which is annoying cause it's a beautiful heartbreaking piece of music. Glad you did this one! Hope on your own time that you listen to the full album version and her full live performance of the song. It's incredible
Her record label wanted her to do another Christmas album, since the success of her first one (wrapped in red) did so well and continues to chart on billboard each year. She wasn't feeling much in the Christmas spirit since it was soon after her public divorce, so this album (when Christmas comes around) has some songs like this that reflect where she was at the time. You should give both albums a listen, they're a staple for me every Christmas. She's such a talented vocalist and writer.
This was part of the daily covers (and sometimes her originals like this) she calls kellyoke on her talk show every episode. So many good ones. The girl can literally sing anything no matter the genre. It's quite impressive really
She did a special last year where she performed her new Christmas songs; I remember this one ripping my heart out because at the end she looked like she was about to cry and quickly turned away from the camera. I suggest watching this special if you want to enjoy her Christmas music, her Kellyokes' are just too short.

I remember the first time I watched this it was right after my mom had passed… I sobbed through the whole performance 😭 I know the loss she is talking about was a different kind of relationship but it touched my heart. Love her so much!! Her voice and interpretation of songs is just spot on!! Love your reactions!!

I love Kelly too! This is my favorite Christmas song of hers & probably in general. It’s a masterpiece that was born out of her pain that she allowed us to hear.

It must have been very difficult for her to bare her soul like that. Coming off her slap-in-the-face divorce and being the songwriter, the emotions must have been wreaking havoc with her head. She did a beautiful job and made me tear up, as usual. Loving the Kelly reactions. ✌❤😎

I didn’t know it was something she had written but I believe it without hesitation. She is a wonderful writer and very open emotionally.
