I met Sammy Cahn when I was in high school. He was a customer of my Dad's. He was so gracious and friendly to me. Years later, whenever he appeared at local venues in NY, my wife and I would go to see him perform. He was very entertaining. Between sets, he would sit with us at our table for a while before going to his dressing room to take a rest. A dear, sweet man.

Absolutely wonderful ... if television only had this kind of quality entertainment today. Hundreds of channels but so much useless garbage ... how come with only 3 networks and minimal Indies the "old days" had so much more worth watching?

Cannot believe I'm viewing this on 15/6/23. I saw AND recorded this on my tape recorder ( I still have the tape along with several other Perry Como 'Kraft' Music Shows transmitted on UK BBC Television in 1962. Had a viewing fig. of c.11 Milllion.
Terrestrial TV in the UK has largely abandoned expensive music progs and reshowing on BBC2 & their extensive catalogue from the Sixties to Eighties.
They don't make 'em like that anymore!!

Eydie says it with "It's magic." Truly a great spin of the fantastic melodies of Sammy Cahn spun by Perry and Eydie with piano virtuoso Andre Previn and a line-up of supporting singers and great dancers. Real show biz. Everyone knows these songs.

What a load of rubbish. There are many great singers around, most of them don't perform on television and are therefore unknown outside their small scenes. Television and the producers who choose the talent are the problem if anything, and the entire culture has changed, so audiences have also changed. There's no shortage of talent. Take Previn for instance, a master all -rounder (still there's probably no one around who can do all the things he did,) but every major town in the world today has a handful of pianists who play jazz at least as well as he ever did.

@@Piratebreadstick True muscians such as pianists, yes, very talented people are everywhere. I am speaking of singers today, no talents like Justin Beiber, Rap (CRAP) singers, those types. What passes for talent and so called music today is a joke!

Very nice comment but then your view regarding Streisand conveying more emotion in her singing? I always felt Streisand and was a cold bird. I feel that she thinks the song in her head and then sings it, while Judy Garland and Eydie Gorme and assuredly Connie Francis are just pure singers. I guess Barbra Streisand is a sphinx to me and I’ll never solve her riddle … her riddle being her appeal.
