This is gonna sound really strange, but for about a year now I've been dreaming of building an LMP style car with a Hayabusa motor, I searched and searched and couldn't find anyone who's done anything even similar, it's been about 11 months since I last looked into the topic, and your video came onto my FYP, I thought it actually looked pretty interesting so I clicked on your video, when I heard you saying something about a Hayabusa I immediately re-winded and even turned on subtitles, low and behold, you're actually doing what I've been dreaming about, seriously awesome stuff, I'll be following along!
Dean, There called Stohr WF-1 we race them is SCCA club racing. They’re not alone with the Busa powered sports racers. I am sure you have heard of radicals. Their are a few extras as well. Check this link to some runoffs coverage. (Some cars are not running busas): ruclips.net/video/EsZEvovqKYk/видео.htmlsi=Gl_8zzcxuNveSp1v
Anton, thanks man! It’s tough being on this side of it all not knowing what the world thinks. Thanks for the good vibes. Hope the warm weather (I think that’s right North America winter is your summer?) is being good to you. Happy holidays!
You don’t want to sand and polish carbon fiber. You can only sand and polish the resin. There is not enough resin to sand and polish so we have to go another route. We also didn’t feel adding a skim coat of resin was a good idea because lots of added weight, risk of cracking cause it’s just “over” the pre existing carbon and resin, and how contaminated the body is from years of racing. Figured give this mold release a try! Thanks for the subscription!
@@commodorepdog32 i did mean really very lite wet sanding of the resin not through it until fiber itself prior to polish indeed, that was just an idea. Yes, coating would add extra weight. But of course you have better overview of what you have there.Yes, coating would add extra weight.
You’re right I guess I screwed up my reply. There isn’t even enough resin there to lightly sand safely. We already tried and burnt through in our test spot. So we vetoed it and went with the mold release. We did 3 coats. Going to probably have 10 on the car before we’re done.
Man I wish I had to confidence in my work to fix something like that. That project is an undertaking. That and even the flooded P1 the other channel is trying to fix.
Not just that. It’s structural. Very little of my work is. Once you’re doing repairs to structural components. You really should wonder if you can do it right. F1 teams replace tubs for a reason. You only see the damage you can see. With tubs some of the damage could be internal and you can just get KO’d by it later.

Why not wet sand and polish CF surfaces?

Is it supposed to look like the Batmobile?
No but she sure does. Part of the reason I want to put some bright vinyl wrap job on it.
