It's way more profound than what most people understand. I was blown away. Our forefathers were definitely divinely inspired. It's obvious this pastor has no idea. None. While the Founders were inspired, the Constitution specifically states that there is to be no established religion in this country, not even Christianity nor any specific denomination of it. People aren't even required to practice any religion , if they so choose. Many colonists left the lands of their birth specifically because of established religion.

They are laying the groundwork to do away with separation of church and state.
God created three things He called sacred ...Israel...Marriage...and Government. God created government...man created politics. The fact is that no democratic government can operate unless it relies on at least some Biblical commandments...so there can be no real separation of Church and state in that sense. But I do take the point that we are not to look to politics for SALVATION. Donald Trump is not a believer in Jesus Christ, he is a believer in America. My question for that pastor would be...would he be OK with his country being destroyed with criminals in charge who actively seek to undermine and destroy Christianity..is he good with that...or would he advocate that we should vote for someone who would prevent that ? If he has any opinion in the matter...he is involving himself in politics. We can't help but be involved in politics...but look what Christians like pastor Jack Hibbs are doing...they're getting involved. Pastor Jack was invited by the speaker of the house Mike Johnson, to open Congress with prayer. pastor Jack has also locked horns with govenor Gavin Newsom in California over abortion. Two maxims apply here " Don't be so heavenly minded that you're no earthly good" and " Praise the Lord...and Pass the Ammunition".
Not every American citizen is a Christian. Many people have no religious affiliation at all. It's obvious that religion and politics are a very toxic brew.
