- State of BMW Display and Connected app after 3 years. A lot has changed in the firmware, as well as on the Connected app. BMW has significantly improved Connected app along the way they stumbled by introducing some bugs, but they were able to squash them with a little delay.
Overall, there are many quality of life improvements. Enjoy this video to see any fixes that BMW has issued over the past few months and also an old review of some of the features while riding the motorcycle.
Still not advised to use display heavily even for navigation while you’re riding. Always pay attention to your surroundings.

Man I miss those clear, cool, early spring days on LI. Does the navigation chew through cell data? Judging by all the reports of buggy behavior, it seems like it’s not worth the effort. I’d get those bar mounts you have, and put a Garmin Zumo on one. Thanks for the video 👍
It doesn’t use any more data then if you use a navigation app like Waze or maps. Most of the times I use Waze when I’m leading rides, I use scenic in both cases I always have connected app running in the background, but that’s just to log the ride data.
Good video, I have had zero problems with the nav on my 2022 RT. I have a dedicated phone (Samsung A34) for the nav, only have the connected BMW connected app on the phone without a sim.
Can you tell me how you have mounted the camera on the left side of your bike pls?

The Connected app is still buggy. It sometimes disconnect suddenly and it frequently guides you to gravel roads, dispite the fact that I have told the app to avoid them. If I'm riding in winding mode, it often chsnge it to fast mode by itself. Needs more updates.
That’s not good. It’s a new one for me since I have not experienced it. Post a review on their app on AppStore. They do reach out. I had done it in the past when I was having connection issues and dealer was charging me for latest firmware update. An email from BMW NA helped me.
You use iPhone or Android?

If you can try using a friend’s iPhone to see if you feel any difference. I did that when everyone was having Bluetooth issues but at the time only the firmware update fixed it. Nevertheless no one should be experiencing these issues when you spend $20k+ on a motorcycle. That’s why I still call the app and navigation a gimmick.
Connected app should be called disconnected app. It's garbage. Do your homework before buying a BMW if a functioning Nav is important. Why they didn't just use off the shelf (hint Apple Car Play) is beyond me.
Haha. Couldn’t agree more. It’s way better than what it was in 2021 but I still don’t consider it as a finished product.
