When shooting a large caliber gun for the first time ALWAYS make sure to put only 1 round in the gun to keep a secondary shot/round from being discharged as a stray!
So when you squeeze the first round , does the hammer reset if you keep it squeezed through the recoil or will keeping it squeezed possibly set off another round? I've held a 500 it has a hair trigger
Who the hell gave an inexperienced shooter a 500 magnum with more than one round in the cylinder? That is picture perfect what not to do as an instructor. Unbelievably irresponsible.
Damn, nobody told him to hold onto it? This is why you should just start all new shooters with a .22 and work your way up (.380,9mm,etc) to avoid mishaps like this. Throwing a 44 in the hands of someone THIS inexperienced is just asking for trouble.
Never be afraid!! Just use caution. Common sense. You are correct on using one round only until you get used to the hot round ammo. I have the same 500 s&w. Must use safety at all times. Do not ever fire a weapon without proper training.
@@louisfeuer9714 i have been going around the internet trying to find different methods of preventing this, and i have not found anything else than just practicing with one round at a time, do you have any tips on how you could prevent this?

You can call him a clown and a baby for how he holds it but it’s the instructor’s job to assess wether an individual is qualified enough to shoot large caliber handguns like this, obviously the dude is not experienced and had no idea it’d recoil the way it did, and I’m sure he thought it’d be fine since the instructor was somehow cool with it.
Having recently shot my first 500 S&W Magnum I can tell you (most already know) it is quite controllable. You just have to be ready for it. Almost lean into it before firing. It is a nice gun to shoot just don’t hold it like a 22lr
Fully agree... it depends WAY MORE on the grips. Having a S&W Mod 29 in 44 Magnum with a wood grip, i can tell, it's definitely more hefty, than a .50 with a rubber grip... Imho the difference between those two calibers is minor and the grip makes the most.
