Once you get used to the languistic differences between English and Japanese, the Starscream dub is actually a nice rendition. He has the cringing, spasic tones that ours has. Lighten up people. Actually, I thought it was cute, so :P

Heck, animes like Dragon Ball Z, in their original Japanese dubs, are equally dosed in terms of seriousness, violence, and lighter/funny times, and DBZ was technically made for teen boys back then on japanese TV, so why do that with Transformers Prime? I don't get it. Did they, like, really think this show was too dark and violent for their young japanese audience or something? That is what I reproach the Japanese who made this dub : they didn't make it seriously and thus they disrespected the original show in a way. Now call me a purist or something if you ever feel like it, just know that I'm from France and I watched TFP back then when I was in my middle to high school years, and the French dub, while maybe not on the same level as the original English one, was clearly done well enough and with the intent of keeping the same kind of spirit. The Japanese love their villains to be splashy and outrageous, whereas American audiences (at least these days) insist on having their bad guys act a little more low-key. Whether kabuki has any influence on it or not, I don't know, but Starscream's voice artist is intentionally stylized here in ways that Steve Blum's performance is not. If you look back to the original cartoons of the '80's, American voice artists were allowed to be a little more "pantomime" than they are today.
They still are pantomime, it's that it's used more for comedy sake, you can't just act all flamboyant and dramatic as a villain and think that people will take you seriously

I've liked him since the TV show Shinzo. I kept watching it and my sister was "Uggh" and than she heard his voice over in Final fantasy advent children and became a fan. She and my mother BOTH watch Transformer's prime. How cool is that?

it's poor, simple as that, they could have gotten a better voice actor i know they could. instead they go for an annoying clown voice, i just hate how when an anime from japan is dubed dub haters always go on about how much they butcher them, but when something like this happans in a american show people use the "its just how japanese talk" excuse to try to make it seem like its good. if a anime dub has voice actors that turned serious characters into joke characters i would say its bad too.
