  • Maine unicyclist Avery Seuter reached the southernmost point of the continental United States on Saturday, Jan. 28 to complete a record-setting, one-wheeled, 2,400-mile adventure on the East Coast Greenway.
Seuter, who departed his hometown of Wells, Maine, on Sept. 8, 2022, is the first-known person to ride from Maine to Florida on the East Coast Greenway route on a unicycle.
After developing a keen interest in car-free infrastructure, Seuter rode to raise money for and awareness about the East Coast Greenway, a developing bicycle and pedestrian route connecting 15 states and 450 communities from Maine to Florida. To date, he has raised more than $5,000 for the East Coast Greenway Alliance. Learn more: www.greenway.org/avery
Connecting People to Place: The nonprofit East Coast Greenway Alliance leads the development of a walking and biking route stretching 3,000 miles from Maine to Florida. The East Coast Greenway is designed to transform the 15 states and 450 communities it connects through active and healthy lifestyles, sustainable transportation, community engagement, climate resilience, active tourism, and more. Strong work Avery! And great idea to stay off route 17 in South Carolina and Georgia, as someone who has (reluctantly) ridden that, hopefully those states can come up with a safer option along that section of the corridor.

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Avery in Melbourne Beach FL. We were told about him from a couple of Warmshowers guests and we kept our eye out for him and found him on A1A.
What a nice young man and what an accomplishment! He even allowed us to sign his helmet with all the others!
    Great job, Avery!
