    As a long distance cyclist for over 50 years, I was deeply touched by this video. Well done - it communicates what bike touring is all about: “The sights, the sounds and the way you feel, when the world expands from a spinning wheel” (from a poem I wrote after one ride in 1974)
    I highly recommended reading “The Handsomest Man In Cuba”, a very entertaining account of Lynette Chiang’s solo bike ride around Cuba.

Never even said anything about your gear-such as what kind of bike you ride. Very enjoyable to watch. One way to make sure you never get stranded with a broke bike is to become a AAA member. They now tow bicycles as well as cars. Well worth the money. I my bottom bracket went out in Nebraska and AAA actually send a roll back to take my bike and I 200 plus miles to a shop in Denver.

    I have done a 4,000 mile bike trip from Germany to Portugal and back, a 6,000 mile trip from Germany to Turkey and back and a 10,000 mile trip from L.A. to Alaska and back. All in 1988 thru 1992. I now live in the DC area and I have to say that I'm done with riding on roads. I would love to do the east coast greenway or a trip across the country from west to east. This is too dangerous IMHO. A hundred and forty miles on the first day with no training? Acadia Maine is ten miles from the Canadian border. I have ridden about 45 miles in one day without training and I can tell you toward the end of the trip I didn't want to sit on that bike seat any longer, let alone get up the next day and do twice the mileage. Bar Harbor is an island. Twenty miles in two hours is hardly rolling, you have to be doing 10 miles an hour, with no brakes, in traffic. I can't watch anymore, it is a great story. I love how you are biking in northern Maine in late September without a jacket. Pawtucket RI in the rain, no rain jacket, late September, wow, that had to be extremely cold. Can you say hypothermia? Great story.

      Yes and when it rains & one is riding even in the summer months it gets cold, how she was able to endure it without a raincoat is amazing, 140 miles with little training amazing too, She can easily compete in Ironman .

      @johnp5079 8 месяцев назад

      Interesting that she said 3000 miles the route she took is around 2300-2400 miles the reason they say 3000 is because they include other routes like the Buffalo NY, still to do 2400 miles nonstop in 30 days for someone that has not trained or has not done long bike rides prior is amazing but a bit questionable but either way many seem to have loved her story & that's what it is all about www.google.com/search?q=calais+maine+to+key+west+florida&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS881US881&oq=Calais%2C+Maine+to+Ke&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgBECEYoAEyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIGCAUQIRgV0gEJMTIxNzhqMGo5qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chro

    I have done many long cycle tours (some on CGOAB) and I usually really enjoyed myself but my monthly target distances was just a measly target of 2000km or 1250 miles. My longest tour was 8000 km or 5000 miles. I have done 100+mile days a quite few times but never back to back, plus I was a hell of a lot younger. I have known a few people to do multiple big days, like my friend Anna who did ~250 km/day going across the Nullabor, but then it was the Nullabor.
    The people make every tour special. You really get to know who you are as there is no one telling you who you are. It looks like a very cool tour.
