- In fall of 2021, I set off on a bikepacking trip from Calais, Maine. 29 days and 3,000 miles of incredible experiences later, I reached Key West, Florida! Here is my story :)

Listener beware, I did not do a good job with sound editing and the music is way too loud

I think this is the best video I've seen so far on the topic of long distance riding. To the point and kept one's attention. Inspiring.
Wow, you watched the video to completion and that's you're take-away.. Bet you are fun at parties.
My favourite part of this was when you showed you have friends in half the cities on the eastern seaboard, and then still described yourself as an introvert.
Also, great work, this is legitimately really impressive
RIGHT! LOL
This used to be called a lie.
@@sweetpadreIntrovert doesn’t mean you don’t have friends, it means being around people drains you and you need recharge time. As well as being more okay with being alone. It doesn’t mean you’re anti social
As a long distance cyclist for over 50 years, I was deeply touched by this video. Well done - it communicates what bike touring is all about: “The sights, the sounds and the way you feel, when the world expands from a spinning wheel” (from a poem I wrote after one ride in 1974)
I highly recommended reading “The Handsomest Man In Cuba”, a very entertaining account of Lynette Chiang’s solo bike ride around Cuba.
Thank you so much for your kind words and book recommendation - I've ordered it and cannot wait to read!
"I think we accomplish what we expect of ourselves" - such an amazing perspective!
Your video inspired me to bike halfway from DC to Key West. Thank you!
Wahoo that’s awesome!! Hope you had a blast :D
@@reginayan One of the best adventures of my life.
I also noticed on the ECG page that you joined their alliance. Congrats and keep posting awesome content!
Awesome ride, Regina. Thanks for sharing. At 70 years old, I'm putting this ride on my bucket list.
Excellent storytelling, excellent video editing, powerful takeaways and one heck of a bike ride. This might be one of my favorite RUclips videos of all time. Thanks for sharing the journey so transparently. I think it really captured what “type 2 fun” is all about. Your story will serve as an inspiration for many to get on a bike and to also appreciate life. It did for me. Thanks Regina!
Haha thanks Alex!! Definitely type 2 fun... maybe next trip will be cross country to you and SF friends...?
I very much agree with you... Very well done in editing.. and your voice is perfect for narrating/voice-over
@@reginayan Great video and great adventure. Only small problem i noticed is that music is sometimes way louder than voice (around 8 min) makes hard to hear what you are saying. But overall great video keep it up :)
@@filipmustic5677 I agree. I thought it was just me. And CC wasn't available. Still loved the video!
I’m very grateful you are ok from being hit by a beer😩…… very happy and releaved you got to your destination safely and happy
Greetings from Newcastle upon Tyne / England / UK . . . . I could hardly believe what I seen at 5:38 on the door of the bike shop, a poster showing the label of a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale, our famous beer. Fantastic video and it was a joy watching it. Very well done, you are great. 😀
I’m glad the RUclips algorithm worked and suggested this amazing video. Clearly one of the best videos I’ve watched about just getting out and having an adventure. Can’t even imagine it must have taken to turn the pedals the first time in Maine. So much unknown lay ahead but you persevered. Thank you for sharing this amazing journey!
Simply awesome! Thanks for sharing this remarkable experience. Glad you kept it straightforward, personal, and non technical. Never even said anything about your gear-such as what kind of bike you ride. Very enjoyable to watch. And what an adventurous, brave, and intelligent person you are to have embarked upon such an extraordinary cycling adventure essentially all by yourself. Such an inspiring story.
wonderful video and journey. You are amazing. You are changed forever. Congrats
congrats on your achievement. Tubeless tire systems are the way to go! have had no bummer flats moments since. Keep on riding!!!
You're a beautiful human being. Congratulations on such a great accomplishment.
Great video! I'm really glad I found it. I do a fair amount of bike touring and I'm trying to figure out "what's next" (I did the Pacific Coast in fall 2022, and Lands End, England to John O'Groats, Scotland May of '22; I've also done Oregon to Boston and New Orleans to Canada in the past). I'm 66 years old (and very extroverted!) and your video has really helped me want to do the Easy Coast Greenway!! I'm quite impressed by your mileage too! (PS - I've never seen the sunrise on a bike tour...). Thank you for sharing.
Wow! You’re Amazing!!! I felt very motivated watching this video…. Thanks for sharing! It makes me want to do that bike trip too!
Awesome bike ride, congrats
Wow just wow! You are a real life superhero! Thank you for sharing your inspiring journey!
Good day to you.
I am a senior rider on HONDA Cross Cub from Japan.
Enjoying touring ,camping and video uploading.
This is so nice video!
Awesome!!
Thank you so much for sharing!!
Have a nice day my friend!!
Leave full support for you !
Really enjoyed your video. I was baffled how you know all these people and how you just meet new people as you go. On top of that you said that you're intravent.
Bravo! What a way to prove your self wrong. Keep testing yourself as it inspires other to do the same. We are better than we believe.
@New Jersey: "Hitting some rain, but not crying 'this time' ". 😂 You're a great, honest writer.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderfully story. I really love the story. I am planning to bike The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route in two years.
You rock girl. Keep traveling whenever you can. I waited until retirement but after losing my wife and I don’t have the money to pay for it. Don’t hesitate, you never know what life has in store for you in the future. Safe travels, keep smiling, and take care.
That's so awesome! Congrats on pushing through all of the bullshit and making it happen!
thank you for making this inspiring video. I truly enjoyed watching your adventure. I am 63 yrs old and still hope to do an epic bike trip like you did.
Good on BK and Papa Pump at Bike Connection to get you going. Used to work there 20yrs ago. Best wishes. -U10
Great story few people will ever understand the emotions of finishing a journey like this .
Congrats on your epic accomplishment!!!… its amazing how a bike can be a tool of self-discovery #inspiring #waytogo #welldone
Very impressive young lady….now the west coast!
Wow, what an inspiring journey! You are a great storyteller, we felt every emotion you were experiencing. Thank you for sharing your journey!
That was an awesome video. It brought happy tears to my eyes watching it. Thank you for sharing your incredible journey.
You're crazy... and amazing! Congrats!
So inspiring. Go, Regina!
Simply Beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing.
Good morning,
It’s official I start the greenway august20. All because of you. Thank you again for that amazing video.
Be very careful, no real route sharing the road with cars most of the time
Just rode my first century. I've NO clue how you did 30 days of that with so little prep/practice. Amazing work.
Congratulations on the century, that's awesome!! And thank you for watching -- I didn't really go into this, but I bike commuted to work which was ~20 miles a day, so I did have a solid base leading up to the trip even without any specific prep. Also, slow & steady is the way to go on these haha so what I lacked in speed & power I made up in hours-per-day haha
Regina, you are inspiring! Thanks for sharing.
You did it! Proud of you! Forget everything and ride!
Way to go for a new rider - impressive long days with perseverance & courage !
Loved every minute of your trip. Congratulations!
You are so strong!!! Incredible!
strong story teller for sure
I love bikepacking/touring, I watch way too many biking videos and just watched yours. Loved it. I felt like I was there.
Having toured doing repeated 100+ mile days, I want to say, “Wow!” Thanks for sharing.
A wonderful adventure. Stay happy.
Awesome adventure, and what a great video. For your first long-distance tour, you kicked butt. What an accomplishment. Thanks for sharing 😊
This is my favorite bike touring video on RUclips! This is impressive both in the crazy amount of daily miles you did as well as the way you tell your story. Very inspiring!
This is an amazing accomplishment. Kudos to you!!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Wow , that's a great video and a great journey indeed with the bike . The bigest adventure with the bike on the road , meeting beautiful people and friends to survive to the preasure . So beautiful is the East Coast . Thank you so much for sharing and take care , my dear friend !🏅🏆🎩👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻🤗🌷
Cheers to you. Great trip. I very much enjoyed the video.
This was a wonderful video about an incredible adventure! Thanks for sharing!🙂
Thank you for sharing you experience. I'm 62 and I will like to do this one day...
Excellent!!! Thanks.
thanks for the amazing trip, awesome to watch
You are more strong mentally than physically, congrats on accomplishing your journey 💪🏻
this video really touched me. my mom was a touring cyclist in the 90s before i was born and I'm really falling down the same rabbit hole myself (riding in the NYC 5 boro bike tour this sunday!). I really connected with your openness around the challenges you faced on this trip. as i look into the future and think about long-haul bike trips like this, you've made me even more excited. thank you for your great storytelling!
Incredible the journey and the mileage. Great story.
Wow, congratulations 🎉👏, amazing how u did 140 miles in a day. Especially when you said you didn't train much.
The secret to any long trip is to pace yourself. Rest when you need it.
Lemon grass spray helps to keep the mosquitoes away. Lavender spray helps to keep the ticks off.
Thanks for sharing in your adventures.
WELL DONE REGINA! So inspiring! Loved your adventure!
Excellent narration and a very long cycle ride for an inexperienced rider, so well done to you for attempting it in the first place and well done for achieving your goal. So now you need to plan your next ride as you have an army of loyal followers who want more.
That was brilliant. Very inspiring and well documented. Bravo.
great storytelling - magic of youtube algorithm suggested this to me in Germany. thanks a lot for sharing.
Awesome video, thank you for sharing. Planning my first 5 day across NY on the Erie trail in 2 months, this really helps and inspires.
Ah, that sounds like a wonderful trip! Wishing you tailwinds and perfect weather
Erie canal pathway is a great ride! Enjoy!
This sounds like an amazing adventure as well. How do you even start to plan? I'm down in westchester and I'd love to bikepack and explore my state.
Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures! So inspiring!
You rock!! That is an amazing adventure I’d love to try!!
Wow how inspiring!! Your Awesome!!!
Such a great story, thank you for sharing!
Anyone who watched your video could not help but be inspired to begin their own adventure. Quality production and beautifully narrated. Thank you.
Wow! Great video and congrats. You are an inspiration to all.
Well done, with honest comments of your feelings and everyday situations. :)
Well done and very inspiring. While watching this video, I surprisingly realized you live directly across from my son in the same complex. I recognized the garage alley along with the interior layout shown later in the video. Small world.
Haha small world indeed! I've since moved out of the complex (I was 928), but if your son was there Aug 2021 to Aug 2022, we definitely crossed paths :D
This was a amazing video truely instorational stuff right here just amazing and makes my want to get out of the house and bike.
One of the best pieces of video storytelling I’ve ever had the pleasure of. Thank you.
Very nice!! Thanks for posting.
im 70 and this brought back memories of riding in my 30s. not long only 100 miles at times. thanks
You are awesome! Thanks for taking me along on your wonderful trip.
Isn’t it a wonderful adventure! I did the Greenway from Boston to Ket West 5 years ago at 59. It changed me as well… All so went across the USA 2 years ago, both trips were sol. There’s some wonderful people here! Have a wonderful life young woman!
Thank you Andrew! Wow, going across the country seems like a wild adventure, I hope to do that someday as well :D
an amazing and inspiring story... thanks for this ❤
Way to go girl! Something you will never forget! Thanks for sharing!
wonderful! loved it. Looks like an amazing trip and a great adventure
You did it right. Small panniers and gear set up. Wow! Thank you for sharing your journey.
I love your story telling. Your are one of the best out of the 100s of bike touring videos ive seen on youtube. Please make more. You are amazing 🎉
Great job! Bike tours teach you a great deal. Most people
Treat you well during tours. I've done 10 + tours. Excellent video.
What a great story! I'm so happy for you.
Thank you for this video!! The East Coast Greenway is on my bucket list!!!
Regina, WOW, just wow! What a wonderful accomplishment! I agree with other comments that this is one of the best videos of a long distance ride. Amazing how you categorized a month-long trip down the East Coast in such a short video yet I didn’t feel cheated and you inspired this 80-year old to not put off further enjoyment of my bike. Thank you.
That is wonderful. Long before you were born I went across Canada and parts of the US. Yes it is a one of a lifetime experience..
Very inspiring video. Really liked the message at the end of the video. Congrats!
Wow, what a great story. I truly believe your life is now forever changed in the most positive way!! This just popped up on my home page, so glad it did!
Absolutely awesome !!!! Well done
Wow, Regina. Beautiful story. Hats off to you…your strength and courage are absolutely inspiring. Thank you for making and sharing this video.
Congratulations!!! You inspire me and I’m an accomplished amputee cyclist. I rode 16k miles in 2017 but never did anything as epic as this adventure. Excellent video quality in telling your story.
Isn’t it amazing how much more we are capable of in comparison to our opinion of our abilities.
BRAVO 👏🏻
Thank you for sharing your journey of a lifetime! Such great commentary, wonderful scenery, and your memories of a lifetime. 4 years ago we moved out of the NYC area to Lake George NY area and the empire state trail is a couple minutes away.
All victories are just one more step further, lift the weight one more time, and one more heartbeat. You should be proud.
Awesome trip. Congrats on your accomplishment.
Thanks for sharing. You inspire me.
Woh! That's the Spirit. Keep Going 🚴♀️
What a beautiful story this brought me so much joy! 😊
I’m so proud of you.
