My brother is getting married this Saturday and I wanted to make him a present using stone inlay. I made this walnut box with a crazy bookmatched grain pattern. I inlaid turquoise, jade and mother of pearl into the lid. Luckily I don’t think he watches my videos very often so I’m uploading it a little early haha. Watch as I show you how to inlay stone into a project and make a really cool grainmatched box.

Mr Katz Moses, I know this is an older video but one thing I love about it is the fact you use a lot of Stanley Sweetheart tools, Glue bots, Looks like a Narex marking knife and many other tools I own including every Suizan saw they make. I have owned these tools long before I knew who you were. I cannot afford Lie Nielsen, Veritas or other highend Plane and Chisels. The Stanley Sweetheart tools are amazing. Sometimes a little rough from the factory but they clean up nice for 1/3 the price. If you have ever dealt with the Gluebot company customer service they are top notch. and well Siuzan saws are just perfect in every way (except they don't make an azbeki saw.) I'm just glad you don't flaunt over priced stuff. Thank you for that.
You should play "Another One Bites the Dust" every time he comes over.
Really neat looking box. I only wish we could have gotten a better look at the completed product with the finish as the video cut out as you were applying the shellac.
I'm making a little box with inlay and a CA glued foam/cloth lining. Saw a Rob Cosman video where his carcass was MDF to prevent the veneer from bowing.
He is so fricking good in everything. I love this channel. This guy knows his STUFF!!!!! It's hard to find someone like him on video. Well done.
My guy! Thank you!
The I.D groove measurement trick was neat
A beautiful box, it could be the best I have seen. Can't wait for the stop block to arrive.
John Dunn thank you for your business and kind words!
You always amaze me with the level of your craftsmanship, thumbs up Katz.
OG Timbercraft my OG subscriber! Thank you brother!
Congrats to your brother and I’m excited to get my stop block. Cool box.
Great video, congrats, your lady must love it very much. Why three tangle? Triangle love pop-up while whatching this video, just my thought😂. Thank you for sharing
Great looking box...Fine craftsmanship...Good Vid. Thanks
Tom Lagatol thank you my friend!
Those are some sick inlays brothha!!!!!
Thank you my friend!
I really like the idea of these stone lines! I think it would look more accurate if the thinnest line was done first, so the thickest looks like its in front of the others.
Jonathan, you are killing it lately. Love the content. The box is beautiful. So excited, I just found out last night I won a K-M Magnetic Dovetail Jig from the drawing that you did with Donny and The Green Woodworker Podcast. I've been wanting to pick one of these up for the longest time, so glad I will get to try out my first dovetails using your jig.
Thank you so much my friend and congratulations! I can't wait to see what you make with the jig!
Awesome Memories Box Sir Mr Moses !
Thx’s Again
Thank you Vince! My brother loved it!
Great little project love the tips and explanations Thanks for sharing
Thanks bud!
Excellent project with some great ideas and techniques.
WB Fine Woodworking thank you sir!
Great video
This video has tons of great info. And box turned out awesome!
Awesome, inspiring project! Loved how the video came together.
Dam, dude I am addicted to woodworking vids on ytube, and my guy, you are phenomenal. I subbed a while ago and glad I did cuz I luv your brilliant work. You are doing ALL the things that I wish I was doing. Kudos
Cheers bud!
That came out cool as always :) One other trick I have done for some of my boxes is to use a bandsaw to cut off the lid...those blades are thinner and work nicely, then some minor sanding and you are done.
Someone I saw used a narrow no kerf pull saw to do that
A beautiful box, Jon! I've never seen the stone inlay like that. I'm definitely going to look into it! Also, I'm very impressed with how much your video production quality has increased in only 2 years! I'm not saying this one is cringy as it's still a great video, but your recent ones are fantastic and I appreciate the effort you put into them. Great work, man! - Joe
Bye the way, I just ordered your dovetail and pin guides. You can thank Matt Estes. He gave a very nice review and comparison to the David Barron guide. As you say, Cheers.
You just picked me up as a subscriber, I’ll bet many more behind me. Great build. Love the production.
Jim Welton thank you sir!
Box looks awesome, video looks awesome, editing on point once again. Well done!
John the Schreiner thank you so much! I worked my butt off on the edit so I really appreciate that!
It shows! It also shows me how bad my editing skills are lacking haha.
Been looking forward to the build video for this project!! Amazing work J!
tomtom cat thanks T-Money!
Loved the project and the video. One question about jointing the boards, is a He-man action figure riding the boards required? I have been using a dinosaur but it’s not articulated and isn’t giving good results.
Evan Dunville yes. You need something with lots of power so you can apply downward pressure. As we all know He Man has the power.
This box turned out beautifully! Nice work buddy!
Donny Carter thank you my friend!
"can cause it to taco". Love it haha! Beautiful box!
SimpleCove thanks brother!
That came out fantastic
Kaged Creations thank you sir!
Really nice design and build Jonathan. I like the inlay and also the mitered inset. I plan to make boxes similar soon. Can't now just had 3 surgeries. Just an idea. You tend to cut your videos short at the end. Such as: I would like to have seen the assembly of the inset maple and more information of the finish. That said, great video. Thank you.
Getting to order the dovetail jog which is the best to start with, due money issue I can only order one this month.

@@katzmosestools thanks
Box looks awesome, btw loving my 1:6 guide!!
Beautiful work 👍
Noticed in your stop block you had Phillips screws on the front. Any particular reason you didn't go with hand adjusters so you didn't need a driver for micro adjustments?
Edit: I was referring to 8:59 and had not watched the whole video yet so had not yet seen the one at 13
Have you ever used a Tacklife band saw? I bought one last year and it's the loudest and worst one I've ever had. I have to adjust the blade reels every time I use it. It sounds like a screech owl the entire time I use it. Do you know of anything else I can do to fix this? It's only a year old and I only use it maybe once a week.
Turned out awesome! Great work, as usual. You sure upped your editing game too, the video was awesome. :)
Fisher's Shop thank you so much bud! Really means a lot. I've been studying video editing like I'm preparing for finals hahaha
Is your dust deputy bin floating off the floor? Have you done a video on how your DC is all set up?
Ryan Peterson no there's shims under it. Yes. The video befo re e this is all about my dust collection system.
Nice build and cool jigs!
What does the stone do to the hand plane blade?
What 1/16” Diablo table saw blade do you use?
Have been watching your channel for recently. Thx for your content. I try to be efficient in production process (AKA lazy) in adding the stone to the routed groves then add the epoxy on top an having a overflow before it capitulates thru the stone. Would mixing the stone into the epoxy then pour into the groves work have better control? Might not have to fight the air bubbles?
Is there any time left to talk him out of it? Beautiful piece of work. Thanks
Mike Thompson hahaha I dont think so but she's a good one ;-) thanks bud!
Can you give a link to the Katz Moses beard trimmer? Or the Katz Moses nail clippers? Great video, thanks for posting
robzilla2165 next product is the Katz-Moses Jock Strap. Now you can confidently stand behind your table saw blade without fear of castration hahahaha
A Masters Of The Universe fan are we? Yeah.
liked for the He-man.
Wonderful job Jonathan! You’ve earned 101st like from me. Also congrats to your brother getting married and also - game over 😂😂😂
Just kidding ;)
Andrea's Workshop thanks my friend! Hahahah he just had a baby too so super game over hahaha
thank you
Nice Video. Could you just get the loud background music fillers to turn themselves down a notch or five? Ta
Wow! That came out amazing Jon. Those inlays look beautiful. What was the polish stuff you used at the end for the box? Thanks!
Shellac. Thank you so much!
Beautiful work! Did you tape the sides together when cutting the dovetails to save time or to ensure symmetry or both? Do you do that frequently? I've never seen it before, but I'm pretty new to this.
Chris Springsteen welcome my friend! Both I guess but mostly to save time. Thank you!
Awesome video, would of been nice to see the the finished product in detail without popup and a little at the end etc.. still thumbs up for me
DIY DAD yeah I regretted that too but honestly exporting and uploading in 4k takes about 3 hrs. There's a good shot of it at the very beginning and my instagram has the true glamour shot. Thanks my friend!

J-Rock, this question is WAY off topic but I have to ask; how many times a day to you scratch the crap out of your left forearm with that square sticking off of your apron like that? You are a man-beast if that doesn't bother you! haha!
Brandon White hahahaha once in a while but only if it's way extended. The pros far outweigh the cons. It's so handy to have my marking knife and square in the perfect place to use one handed. Thank you sir
Great video... but does anyone else feel like they are watching Jimmy Kimmel do a wood project? No? Just me? Mmmmk. Carry on.
So many Jimmy Kimmel comments
Had to stop watching. The music was getting to me and became too much of a distraction.
Get rid of the garbage music.
The box looks great but way too much slow motion footage and dramatic music. It made it really hard to watch. I'm not a fan of the beer commercial cinematography for woodworking. I half expected to see skimpily clad girls standing up in a pool and flinging their wet hair over their shoulders.
Hahaha I'll make sure to add the girls next time. Thanks for watching!
Wow 😮 stone inlay the American way. That means fake!! Calling this inlay is blasphemy!!!
This is casting.
“Don’t make a 3D print and call your self a sculpture”
And if you worry about taking to much of the box by splitting it, then learn to use a handsaw!
Blah blah blah. How's the weather up there on your high horse?
Jonathan Katz-Moses oh its wonderful on my wooden hand carved horse, because compared to you. At least I know I’m not either a liar nor an amateur. Because calling this inlay is showing you have no skills/knowledge about woodworking. You do know what Inlay is right? Well I can guarantee it’s not poring resin in to a hole.
Dude it’s not my work I’m protecting! I’m protecting the guys who true centuries specialized in inlays, and spend years to perfect their personal skills, and people don’t use centuries for some asshole to ruin it with pouring plastic in to a hole! Call it casting, call it river wood, I don’t care! But don’t you step in on real craftsmanship and call this inlay!
I actually came to this video, because I found it really interesting to see stone inlay, because after 20 years of mixed naver, boatbuilder and carpenter. I haven’t ever seen it before, or thought it was a reliable solution.
I’m so tied of you wannabe American “crafts men”, you are a fucking joke!
Even tho I never do this, I challenge you! I’ll make my first RUclips video, just for you! BUT it’s you and me against each other, building a rocking horse, so you have a horsy to sit on too(don’t worry I’ll give your mine, because you have no chance), using absolutely no power tools!
Take the challenge, and let me show you how I deserve my place on a real woodworking horse.
Answer this and I’ll give you all my info, e mail, address, name and what ever you need, I’m so tied of American RUclips hand craft posers!
And before you criticize my languages skills, then be free to answer me in one of my other 4 spoken languages.
You wouldn’t last a day on my workplace, maybe that’s a lie, because people like you can always be used for sweeping the floor!
But I am pretty impressed, you actually had the skill to hold on to the chisel.
Everybody let’s give Mr pretend A lot, a hand. I’ll bet he actually fool someone that’s his a craftsman, and he actually have skill. I watched a couple of videos, and you are a joke, and I have no idea why you post this shit!
And of cause I do, because Americans have no idea on how bad building standards they have, windows for a house were I’m from, coast on average the same as a house in UNITED STATE OF SHIT.
PLEASE TAKE MY CHALLENGE! I would really like to make a huge fool out of a piece of shit like you!
And then you can join the adult club, we will accept that you use a rocking horse, because we are used to American plastic shit and behavior, that does absolutely no good for the human existence!
MERICA!!!
FUCKING HILLBILLY! Oh sorry you clearly don’t have the intelligence to be a hillbilly!
